You definitely CAN magnify a 1x prism from Behind. You just have to match the focus on the prism and the magnifier (it works up to a 3x magnifier). Just get the 1x looking good with the diopter, then adjust the magnifier accordingly. Done this with several magnifiers and primary arms 1x micro prisms
To expand on @@nijoe70 comment about the resultant first focal plane scope from magnifying in front of a prism scope, the reticle and BDC etchings get bigger at the same magnification as the image, so the ballistics still work. Holds for 300 and 400yds still… um… hold.

For anyone that’s wondering, EOTEC’s optics are supposed to look blurry. The reason being is so you can see your target through the optic. Also if you get a magnifier it basically takes away the blur. Just a standard infantry cat here but EOTECH has been in use with the military for a long time and is truly battle tested and proven. @@auggiedabandit what I did was zoom out the focus on both to the maximum and then first adjust my prism apone to a clear picture and no more. Then you do the same with the magnifier while it is cowitnessing the prism and fine tune more focus in until you have a clear picture. You will have to adjust the windage and elevation on the magnifier to perfectly alig the prism reticle. Keep in mind I have not been able to get the 3x clear up to 10 yd in this configuration but you're not going to be using the 3x magnifier within that range anyway. Hope this helps out brother!
Way too many companies make optics with the most convoluted, horrendous reticles I’ve ever seen. I just want a dot. I don’t need lines and ticks scattered within my sight picture.
I like the holosun ones where you have a dot and a circle around it for close up stuff or can turn off the circle to just have the single dot for long range.
That circle and marks are meant for ranging your sight. For example, on a eotech, the other ring represents where the bullet would hit from if I remember correctly 250 yards out. In the end i would rather have them then not

This guy knows. Unless you have eye problems EOTECH is the best solution overall. Unless for some reason you think having to replace a $5 battery more than once a year is a problem. There is literally nothing going on directly in-between the eye side and front side windows, the entire optical train is above or below it except for the reticle hologram which is completely transparent and sealed in the eye side window.
No no it’s much more like a red dot / magnifier, but instead of an LED bouncing off mirrors for Your reticle, you have an etched reticle that can either stay pitch black (good for lots of scenarios in bright daylight) or illuminate red, and the primary arms cyclops gen 2 , aka the slx 1x microprism, gets red dot bright, but with a consistency due to nature of the illumination such that the same brightness that works in the daytime / against white walls with bright white light, also works in low light / complete darkness. It’s really and impressive thing, if the elcan didn’t exist I would consider running one permanently
The biggest downside is that you can't place the prism all the way forward on your upper receiver. The red dot has the advantage in that. Especially if you have to put the magnifier in front of the optic, you definitely cannot take advantage of scooting the red dot further towards the front. Main reason that's important is field of vision. The more forward your optic, the more field of vision you can see around your optic.
If you use a quality 1x ( the ones from primary arms) they have an insane amount of eye relief and you can actually put a magnifier behind them, and then you bdc reticle is still accurate!
Hes talking about eye relief, if he doesnt even have space to put on on the back of the rail. If he moved the prism more forward for a magnifier to fit then his sight picture would be terrible

Red dot does not project red dot on the glass, EOTECH laser does. The transparent mirror on a red dot sight just reflects the red LED dot in the sight into your eye.
Personally i wouldnt trust monstrum optics with my life but ive had great success with some of their scope rings and mounts. Sometimes they are the only company that makes the oddball mount that i need.

I feel like your magnifier is way too close to your optic. I have the Ghost and the Marksman and I believe they say it needs a 1/2” clearance between. But if it works- whatever 😂
Prism won’t flare if you have astigmatism, that all I run is etched prism scopes. For that reason. A red dot becomes a giant blur for me.

The problem with this is it magnifies the reticle since it’s etched making it larger than if the magnifying is in front .

Kinda sounds like you have astigmatism. All those UI elements on the reticles would make the sight convoluted and blurry.

Primary arms 1x prisms have incredibly forgiving eye relief/eyebox and will work with a magnifier behind the optic as well as with night vision.

I used to have a vortex prism optic with a 3x magnifier behind it...worked just fine once it was tuned in.
PRIMARY ARMS SLX, GLX...have HUGE eye relief and can work with magnifiers.
