His name is Themberchaud. He once had a... arrangement with the dwarves that lived in the mines that are his lair, and they fed him so much this is the result. I _LOVE_ him!
Yeah, ignoring the fact that he's so big it's easy for him to trip, hence him tripping over the fallen chain and log rolling over the edge. This whole chase was the most exercise he was permitted to get in centuries.
I enjoyed that he used his bulk to his advantage so much. The penguin glide, the tipping of ramps, the roll on the side, he uses that mass with his attacks, rather than having to fight against his own portliness and adventurers at the same time.
Themberchaud demonstrates just how intelligent he is all throughout this scene. He regularly uses his own weight to his advantage, letting gravity and momentum propel him faster than he would be able to move normally. While his D&D stats indicate he can't fly very far, his normal movement and climbing speed are the same for a normal red dragon despite his bulk, and that's how he manages it.
It’s even better when you learn the lore about red dragons you see a large chunk of the time they spend awake when they’re not rampaging is coming up with contingency plans for if their lair is ever invaded and once it is they’ll pick a plan at random that applies to the situation and they’ll go all in so they can spend the minimum amount of time thinking during the fight so while some people complain about how dragon chungus here just acts like a rampaging animal I actually really like that they kept him to this in the Lair cause it’s 100% in character for red dragons
Dragons in D&D are not just beasts but fully sapient and highly intelligent beings. They have their own language and culture, and were the inventors of the study of Arcana. Its the reason why Draconic is the standardized language used for magic. In some settings outside of the Forgotten Realms, dragons have even built entire complex civiliations. I thought I was the Only one! 😕
I love how he just figures out at one point that he can roll around to squash them. XD
This movie had no right to be this fun and awesome
Themberchaud ain't fat! He's just big-boned!
I have to say this is probably the best reason I’ve ever seen for a dragon to have to fight the protagonists on the ground rather than just doing a strafing run
Fun fact : the fatter a dragon is the more healthy they are and the more powerful so this dragon must be tacking incredibly good care of him self
Look at him he so cute and chonky
He reminds me of those loafy cats 😂
Didn't know caseOh reincarnated as a dragon.
I finally feel represented. . .by a dragon. . .with a thyroid disorder. . .
1:46 This lloks exactly like the Scene in Jurassic Park where Lex breaks through the vent during the escape from the Velociraptors!
That my Favourite Scene in D&D!
It’s a direct reference iirc
I probably missed 10 minutes of the movie because I laughed so hard. I couldnt breath.
1:42 absolutely LOVED the jurassic park reference
One of the best scenes In entire movie. Adorable freaking dragon
i like how this is a dragon and not a wyvern. dangg i wish i would love to see smaug like this
Uhhhh
Honestly I'm alwayse annoyed when People say Wyverns aren't dragons.
There are Multiple Forms of Dragons
@@hermannmakuta3311 I'm asian so serpent like dragons are also a form dragons in our culture i get it, or even attach a bat wings to a monkey and call it a dragon, it's a dragon, nobody sees them real life, it doesn't exist in real life. What i'm trying to say is artistic design choice of fictional creature, i'm getting annoyed of every concept artists being lazy and using same format every time. Kudos to the dnd cgi team tho
0:30 look at my boy sliding
the chonkey dragon was so funny!
My 1st reaction to Themberchaud was to recite the old chonk memes in my mind
Specifically "Aw lawd he comin'" and then the "Absolute Unit" one
Paladin: You’d have done the same for me.
Bard(thief): Yeah. 👀😬
This fat dragon is cannon is the best part
oh look, a book accurate Syrax!!!
I laughed hysterically during this scene. The fat dragon sliding and falling was too much. But still lethal!
The dragon looks cute ❤and also feel bad for the dragon bc his so chunky😂
Want to feel even worse? He has lived all his life in the Underdark, he has never seen the sky before.
"And now I am far too large to ever leave. Even if I tore the entire place down around me, I could not claw my way to the surface from here. Instead, I remain buried in a prison of my parents' making, far beneath a sky I've never seen."
- Themberchaud's lament
Regardless of his depressing backstory, he is still a dangerous dragon (Red dragons are the strongest breed of colored dragons in Forgotten Realms D&D, a lot of dragon hunters are hesitant to face them, and they generally have a really big ego) he'd rather have you as a his servant or another layer of fat on his body than have your sympathy.
Reading some of these comments, I’m so glad I’m not the only one who find this chonky dragon look so CUTE!! 😍😍🥰🥰🥰
So this gave me a damn Overlord Flashback. Sometime in season Four we get to meet the frost dragons.
Out of the many children the Male dragon had, he had one son that was basically obese just like this dude.🤣🤣🤣
But he was a shut in book worm which is why he gained so much weight. And bc he always read in a dimly lit room, he had to wear glasses due to his failing eyesight.
Ironically enough, he survived being killed bc he knew so much and that ended up benefiting his Majesty Ains Ool Gown.
Did they…just depicted the redditer?
Also, Themberchaud the dragon isn't new to D&D, it is an original character from back in second edition. There are a lot of things in this movie that were throwbacks to older editions and I love it.
