I agree that this set is amazing. I've been putting together my kriegers this week and they are so detailed and well posed. Taking my time with it too, since there's only ten of them. Sometimes less is more.
Awesome video, im getting ready to paint these guys. I also run a Mortgage and Insurance business in New Zealand, and now i feel i have missed something by not sponsoring hobby channels :)
I wish I could help you but I do my colour matching by instinct. It's very hard to teach people how to do it when I just "know" roughly which colours to combine.
Fantastic OSL effect. I was worried about the pants being too light at first, but I should have known better. I’m painting up a full 10-man kill team for a friend & I’m definitely going to use some of these techniques.
La virgen santa Juan! Que cosa más chula. El efecto de luz del arma es canelita en rapa con su reflejo en casco y proximidades...sabes que mi i voy a pintar este finde no?😬 Eres un grande amigo. Trabajo exquisito😍
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures im loving it, currently painting them and this is by far the best and most easy to follow tutorial ive ever watched. Keep it up 👍
The OSL reflections on the helmet look so realistic. I'm curious, how do you know where to place the highlights? What's the logic behind it? On things like helmets and other curved metal surfaces, shields etc
That's a very good question and one that is very hard to answer because the truth is that I just imagine what a source of light would do in my head and apply it but that of course is of no help to anyone. A better answer although still probably not the answer you are looking for is look for reference, both in painted minis and real photos, you can even do them yourself with a cheap colour led panel and some cooking ware. Hope that helps.
This is an amazing tutorial, thank you so much. Just one question, for the second highlight on the coat, you say it's a mix of temple guard blue and nightlords blue, but the video overlay says night lords blue and thunderhawk blue. Just wondering because I plan to follow this exactly!
Any chance we might see some Battletech Mechs from you for the Eavy Contrast series at any point? You do amazing work, you do great guides. I struggle with painting models the size of warhammer but with the Scale of a 100 ton Battlemech and making it come out decent, but the way you use colour is consistently great. I have used some of the demonstrated colours/ techniques for Marvel Crisis Protocol minis and it's always come out great
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures All good. The techniques are pretty universal so the work is still appreciated. Thank you for what you do, one of the best on UA-cam
Been using this method to paint my kill team and they look marvelous! Might I ask how you recommend painting the Grenadier's white mask? I'm a little lost on how to paint and highlight white on such a small mask... :c Love the tutorials, please keep them coming!
Well, what I do for those kind of details, is basecoat with Ulthuan or Corax, shade with diluted Space Wolves Grey and highlight with white. If you do a recess shade you will save a lot of time in clean-up. Watch my Emperor's Children 30k video to see how I did it in his tabard.
Got damn I love the "worn" parts of the helmet and shoulder pads. Really looks like they have seen battle. :D Would it work with other colours as well?
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Well, the "wornines" looks great with the metallic colour you picked (looks superb). But I'm leaning more towards using a camouflage of four different colours of Light green, dark green and bege and marineblue/black. (The colours of the M90 helmet). I'm trying to picture in my head how it would look like with a combination of your "worn" trick, if it would just look messy or if it would give an impression of a worn camouflaged helmet used in many battles. :) If you understand what I'm trying to describe :D

Very cool breakdown of the OSL process, this is one I'll be coming back to for reference in the future. Also one of your best minis I think, really impressive work! How did you base him, in the end?
These look better than FW's long outdated Kriegers. GW's plastics have surpassed FW in terms of crisp, clean detail, as well as durability. Moreover, the sprues produce far more consistent casts than resin, are easier to clean and assemble, and are (somehow) cheaper. FW basically has no place anymore outside of characters series figures, and supporting specialist games. Thankfully, they are pretty much done meddling (and ruining) 40k.

Yessssss the painting king is back

this is low key the best osl tutorial i watched so far, as it is in the context of painting the whole miniature.
Thanks ☺️
Wow the osl was amazing, makes me want to tackle my Darth Vader mini. (Love to you tackle him too!)
Thanks! What a great mini to apply this technique.
I might paint him at some point because he is amazing but not for now.

great video as also ways. thats one dislike is clearly the only surviving Cadian

Hi Juan! Amazing job as always. I'll try to emulate your painting guide with my own krieg veterans. Keep doing this awesome videos.

I think the funky colour scheme is a version of the french WW1 uniform.
It is indeed, the uniform is basically all french, and the helmet a mix of French and German

Amazing. It may be muscle memory for you, but any tips on keeping your brush shape plump, yet perfectly pointed enough for the tiniest spots?
Use a good kolinsky brush and make the tip with your mouth, it's the best way
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I do that, but I guess I've been drawing the bristles out instead of relaxing them toward the ferrule, thanks!
That's not do with the technique, it's all to do with the brush you use, different brushes have different profiles

Hey so uh since I will never ever be able to paint this well can I just buy the model off of you because it's insane haha
Well, you usually could but this one is already sold. Sorry.
Is contrast medium he same as paint medium?
No, Contrast Medium is contrast paint without pigment, and the chemistry is very different from normal acrylic paints
