When they introduce Rubén González, the crowd goes wild! Uno de los tres más grandes pianista sonero de todos los tiempos: Lilí Martinez, Peruchín and Rubén González.
Indudablemente que el proyecto BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB, nos dio la oportunidad, de redescubrir grandes figuras de la música cubana que hoy son celebridades, donde el común de las gentes del mundo entero, da un claro valor a su talento y aporte al desarrollo de la música cubana; desde nuestra perspectiva damos inmenso agradecimiento al verdadero gestor de este fenómeno cultural señor JUAN DE MARCO GONZALEZ. Al cumplirse 95 años del natalicio, de uno de sus recordados integrantes, convertido a través de los años en uno de los más impactantes pianistas cubanos, de todos los tiempos; no podemos menos que recordar su fantástica forma de jugar con el piano, a pesar de la artrosis reumática que afectaba sus manos; aun cuando el maestro decía: “Cuando me acerco al teclado desaparece la artrosis” Nos referimos a Rubén González Fontanills, como era su bautismal, nos lleva a sus 75 años de edad al reconocimiento mundial, cuando a pesar de su enfermedad nos dio una lección que superaba los límites de la admiración, con un talento a toda prueba con la exquisitez interpretativa que aun sigue retumbando en el mundo entero. Había nacido en la Encrucijada, cerca a la ciudad de Santa Clara, el 26 de mayo de 1.919, su niñez paso entre las clases que le impartía su hermana Josefa, que era maestra de escuela y había asumido la responsabilidad del funcionamiento de la casa, el juego de pelota en el amplio patio de su hogar y las tres vacas del solar, consumiendo leche recién ordeñada y tomando guarapo del ingenio de Nazabal, bebida que convirtió en su favorita a través de los años. Luego, para el año 1996, es llevado por Juan de Marcos, al más importante proyecto musical de la música cubana de cierre de siglo “EL BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB”, donde este insigne músico se da a conocer en el mundo entero; Junto a Ibrahim Ferrer y Omara Portuondo, en el 2002 recibió la Orden Félix Varela, máxima distinción cubana otorgada. Sostenía el maestro Rubén, que le había gustado trabajar con muchos músicos, pero que se sentía especialmente a gusto cuando lo hacía con: Miguelito Cuni a pesar de su carácter; lo consideraba una voz inigualable, lamentablemente fumaba mucho; con "Cachaito" López con quien trabajaba de memoria, al igual que su gran amigo el contrabajista Fabián García. Fueron sus dos últimas producciones los álbumes: “Presentando a Rubén González” y “Chanchullo”, trabajos que alcanzaron altísimo reconocimiento mundial. Se nos fue el 08 de diciembre de 2003 en la Habana.

You did a great job capturing the emotion of the music, and the zoom lens is great! Would be great to see other footage you might have
