I understand the need for backflow system certifications in industrial applications and for high rise buildings, etc. However, I can't conceive of what practical purpose it serves in a residential irrigation systems where the potential for any reasonable and sustained pressure to cause a reverse flow into a municipal water system exists. For residential applications, this seems like a totally ridiculous and costly requirement. Is there any case anywhere in the world where a residential irrigation system backflowed into the municipal water supply? This is not a nationwide standard (based on the four locations that I've lived). It's as likely that my garden hose used to wash the car or in other tasks could backflow, though there is no requirement on residential (non-irrigation) hook ups to have a backflow preventer. Otherwise, every house in the US would be required to have this. This is another example of government over-regulation and should be revised for reasonable and practical reasons.
You speak the truth. This law was mandated by the U.S. EPA in the clean water act. It is a bureaucratic mandate. Most of the worst laws are contrived by bureaucratic mandate in which we have no say, no control and very little if any recourse. Thanks for sharing your comments Brett.

What he says isn’t true, you can’t have years of back-flow experience, and NOT be licensed. In Washington, you take a 40 hour (one week 7:30am to 4:30pm) then you take the test, if you pass you get licensed.
In Ohio its true, they want five years of backflow experience.

Well it may be true in Ohio, so maybe you should say that at some point. Instead your making it sound as if that's the standard in all 50 states.

You come off as some kind of god dammed backflow guru, without ever clarifying oh, by the way I'm spouting Ohio regulations.
So I retract my calling you a liar, if you admit your misleading statements, or at least clarify them in a new video. These are the requirements set in the state I'm in, Ohio. Your states backflow testing requirements may be different. Be sure you check with them.

Yep, yep. These valves don't protect your drinking water but instead of that pollute it, they are designed to protect other customers from drinking your used water and they even charge you for that. I test backflows. 40% of them don't even function. It's a joke.
@@DefundTheFringes yeah it's pretty clear he doesn't know what he's talking about. In all states, you are required to have your valve tested yearly. They do work, they are designed to keep contaminated "grey" water from entering and contaminating your domestic water.
They aren't intended to to do what this idiot is saying. These Trumptards never cease to amazing me with the sheer level of ignorance. @@laszlokramer5052 so you would want to drink water from a building that dosen't have a backflow preventer on its sprinkle system? You would probably be the first to sue if you drank contaminated water too.
@@macneoh7418 I am a certified backflow tester in America. I live in the European Union where we do not have any backflow preventers, yet nobody has ever died from drinking polluted water. The only pollution in our water system occured in 1993 when the US bombarded Serbian water system with chemicals on purpose.
