Hollow Knight is a 2017 Metroidvania video game developed and published by independent developer Team Cherry. The player controls the Knight, an insectoid warrior exploring Hallownest, a fallen kingdom plagued by a supernatural disease.

@@Novastar.SaberCombat lmao kinda, it looks like a crouching animation but really you just hold the button you use for spells instead of tapping it like you would for spells. it's why some new players tend to get vengeful spirit on accident when they're trying to heal

"you can cast some heal spell" focus is the first spell in the game lol. Ryu going no heal so far is wild but its so awesome to watch.

Me: Beating Trial of the Fool after extensive testing of all possible builds in the field.
Ryu: Beating Path of Pain before learn what basic buttons do.
Challenge Level: No Heal
I would ABSOLUTELY watch a full playthrough of this game. There are some really crazy challenges for it too like Steel Path, the Godmaster (difficult boss rush with more story), The Grimm Troupe, and waaay more. Props to beating The Path of Pain like a boss!

The beauty of this is Hollow Knight is essentially a game of exploration, like Breath of the Wild or Metroid, but then you find these top level platforming sections out of nowhere. And the gameplay mechanics are exquisitely finetuned.
It also has some of the best boss fights you can find in any video game, and there're are a ton of them. The Colloseum, Final Boss and King Grimm are some highlights, but you can also to play secret bosses and hard version of the bosses after you finish the game, for endless amount of fun & content.
Imagine if they made a sequel for this game! /s

i think i would have just... looked up how to heal if i forgot lol. when i was completing hollow knight, i definitely didn't do this lol. but i did it all with no guide so i don't think i even knew what all i missed
wow so many people that are personally offended about the healing thing. I am curious about what trinkets are equipped. I think when he keeps hitting the ceiling while pogo-ing I believe it is because his nail is longer than normal from the trinkets
Yea he definitely has mark of pride equipped, possibly the one that gives more soul for taking damage as well but not sure on that. Also im pretty sure he knew how to heal, i mean its one button lol and if he was still this good at the game i dont see how he’d somehow “forget” that. Was probably just for engagement and it seems to have worked well.
@@-Mintyy To heal you have to hold down that button. If you only tap it, you shoot a fireball instead. Ryu probably tried all the buttons once, and only got the fireball shot, then gave up.
He definitely has mark of pride. Perhaps long nail too. I think I also saw steady body. Not too sure for the other ones.

This is such a coincidence, I just picked up this game 2 weeks ago and just finished that white palace. Except i DIDN'T finish it. I cant believe i missed this challenge! I need to go back! I need some path of pain in my life!

i LOVE that you're playing HK, Ryu. Please do a series on beating all the pantheons! Pantheon of the Hollownest is one of the most insane challenges I've ever tried in gaming, and I'm old.

I’m almost positive he knew how to heal but played it up to get more engagement from comments. I mean it’s ONE single button and if he’s still this good at the game as we just seen there’s no way he somehow “forgot” that you hold the spell button to heal yourself.
Pretty sure he's just good at platformers, he could've gotten used to the physics faster than most, plus they are pretty responsive in hk
Lets be real its a hold Input. Its easy to miss if you not familar with it movement also cancel's it so it seems legit imo

I left my console on for three days in the last room because I work all day, so I never died and went back. I never thought about the door being open if you go back, that's an amazing touch that they let you skip a little section for when you try again
I loved the path of pain when I encountered it for the first time. It was the most fun part of the whole game.
Same, I’m still pissed they decided you can only do it one fucking time. Like why? Why limit the best part of the entire game to once per save file smfh. (I get the story lore and why but that’s bs imo)

He knew he can heal and he knew how, come on :D If you figure out the chrystal dash you figure out the heal. Besides: every gamer would try every button intuitively. But well played, the comments go crazy on it, gets you traffic and of course it remains impressive to beat the path of pain without healing. Very good and smart performance, however I actually think you're above this kind of marketing stunts.

Took me about 3 hours to clear the Path of Pain and I actually remembered how to play the game so I could heal and never needed to go back to the beginning lol.
Breaking news : man reaches Path Of Pain without remembering about Focus : "It was the first ability I got and I forgot about it immediately!"

Hey Ryu! Just throwing it out there, there's an underrated gem of a game I recently beat called Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus. Very hollow knight/ori inspired with the art style of cuphead. If you enjoy those I would highly recommend it!
