Love of many people going cold, lack of self control, signs in the sky, the sun will be blotted out.... Repent, God's Judgement Day Is Near. When you begin to see these things, look up, your redemption is near.
California is a Earthquake prone state that suffers moderate sized earthquakes to large ones every 10 to 20 years with the San Andrea's doing its performance North or South 200 years or so respectively. If you lived in the state for at least any longer than 15 years or so its likely you've heard of a good size quake or experienced one. The average quakes range in the 4.0 to 5.0 ranges with the occasional 6. Large quakes for the state are 7s to 8. 7pointers usually hit on average about every 7 to 12 years. The State is huge and is covered in faults all over the state. These faults are what makes the states impressive mountain ranges, valleys, and hills. San Andreas herself being again responsible for much of it. Its also somewhat volcanic in its past as well. The State is heavily populated with most people living in the coastal cities. These cities are vulnerable to Earthquakes especially if they hit in succession. This is why aftershocks are so dangerous. In the case of Los Angeles, if the San Andrea's was to hit, it would cause devastation along the Southern Califronia area with destruction being nightmarish in the Riverside area and tapering as it reaching LA itself. Much of the area is runoff from the mountains and aquifers scattered around the desert. So there is the possibility of liquidfaction and heavy damage. To make matters worse is that besides the aftershocks after the main quake. It has a high chance of activating one of the fault lines that goes into LA in this case the Puente Hills Fault. Nasty little fault that was found in the 80s after it tried to level the towns, of Whittier, Montebello, Puente Hills, Hacienda Heights, and El-Monte, and that fault goes right into Los Angeles. So yeah there are concerns. Oh and never mind that if Alaska ever decided to have its 9.0s they would bring tsunamis down into the pacific northwest and well into California. Those can damage and kill people if they landed in California

I tried an 8.0 earthquake on Guam, and I will attest to those who haven't experienced one that if you were to hold a camera still by hand the outcome will look exactly like 1:21, however you will most likely fall flat on your face from the trembling of an 8.0 quake.

It literally will happen in California from either the San Andreas fault or worse a tsunami from the cascadia subduction zone, we just dont know when, but anytime between now and a couple hundred years. Both of those events are guaranteed based off of how tectonics work, we just cant know when. And you’re woefully unprepared.

We do build buildings to better withstand the shakes but that the best we can do. Can build sea walls for tsunami but would just be building hundred foot tall walls along the cost for the absolute worst case scenario.
