- The Dumaguete Public Market is a vast riot of smells and colours. There's local cooked foods as well. If you want to "Eat Dumaguete" the Market's the place to go. I did... Bod Bod and Halang Halang.

Hi dear new friend thanks for share this video I love ❤️ see you again yummy yummy
Credit to Zelle for overcoming her shyness so that she can talk to you and give you pointers on the dishes you're looking for. Credit to her boss for hiring her. I bet she became a minor celebrity in her area after your interview. :)
I hope so.
Wow, that's awesome and what a coincidence, because we ate chicken halang-halang in my last vlog upload.
kudos to those people who entertained your queries with genuine pleasant enthusiasm and cheerful attitude, ...
Nice blog down the local market......
awwee. Rezil's a very close mine. proud of you mother😍😍
Hello Marshall waching your blog hope you enjoy dumaguete
Welcome to Duma and enjoy your stay!
That young lady is so gracious... AND that old lady... she's so gracious as well... It's just raining gracious ladies there in Dumaguete!
"that old lady" so rude lmao
@@jamesortega8681 tell me,why she is rude?
@@marjoriecadanilla7546 smh
@@marjoriecadanilla7546 you want people to call you old lady? 😁
It's called moron/muron (the chocolate suman/sticky rice) in our province and I like it paired with coffee. :D
Don't forget to visit Sanz Rival store in front of the boulevard.. Top notch desserts..!
For the coldest beer in town go Bogarts Sports Bar right on the Boulervard owner is a Aussie named George.
Another enjoyable vlog, the lady at last place you went to was great, looking forward to see where you go next :-)
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks Mike.
I think Rita kinda liked you 🤣... She had that look in her eye 😆😆😆😆....
Looks delicious
nice going Marshall - you are at the right place right time as always🎉🍻
haha, thanks mate.
Is Bod bod = Suman (tagalog)? It looks Ube and taste like Ube, it is Ube! lol. You swallow the labuyo? LOL. Thanks Marshal for the entertaining videos. Love it. Kinda places I go to. Adventures continues ....
Be cautious always on your bag or wallet put it infront of you to prevent it from pickpocketing
Always put your bag in front of you Marshall because pickpockets are everywhere in PH..
The chocolate sticky rice is called Moron in Leyte
Kabog is Millet Grain.. And should be eaten when still hot - freshly cooked.. When they get cold the coconut milk in them makes them taste not as good.. It is my favorite suman.
hello sir Marshall very nice video
25 pesos wow that's a great price my family originally is from dumaguete but i grew up here in Manila... hope i can visit my province
Definitely Lau, you must get down here, it's lovely.
Hi Marshall, hope you are enjoying Dumaguete!! It was nice bumping into you at Manila Airport! 😃 Mr Blair
Hey mate, Hope you got back in one piece; long trip for you. I'm enjoying Duma. Stay in touch.
There we go!!!❤❤❤nice thanks for the sights
I am enjoying your adventures,Marshall, keep up!
Thanks, will do!
Bodbod Kabog Plain and Hoto Dark Coco is the beat suman/drink combo I ever had..
I've watched many foreign and some local vloggers describe Manila to be very crowded and loud. I didn't know if I could relate to their opinions toward the place because I've only been to Metro Manila 3 times myself, but I only just started to realize that Manila really is very loud and overcrowded since I am used to the sights and loud sounds in the background of your vlogs. So there's no coincidence, I really could sense the chill vibes from where you are now, and from you when you're anywhere in the Philippines, except for most places in Metro Manila.
That chicken halang halang looked good ! 😋
Thanks for the market tour! Make sure you go to San Rival for the Silvanas!
Your choice of bodbod was excellent with the purple yam with mango and my personal favorite bodbod kabog which is made with sesame seeds. Having them with sikwate or native chocolate drink was perfectly paired. I grew up in Dumaguete City where I studied at Silliman University's elementary school from grade 2 to 5. Silliman is the Philippine's first Protestant University. You should stop by the campus and check out their church, Hibbard Hall and Luce Auditorium for their architecture.
Will do. Thanks.
I have eaten many times in "Building number 3" I just never knew it had a name or anything. Most of my meals there were under $2 US. I will be back in August for a few weeks and am looking forward to the local food again.
Nice foodies, very affordable for just ₱25 only? 👍 All of that for just 95 pesos😮😮😮 very cheap, i wish here in Manila, the prices of commodities is like that?! 😞
There is a way to eat budbod without getting your hand sticky…do not unwrap it ..just cut the banana leaf from the end ..split it in half..just like opening a banana fruit ✌️
Marshall, such a hit with the ladies. :)
I try to make it look like that haha.
Marshal❤
Keep safe
Wow! 😮 Just with that you're surely will be get full. I wish i could visit other places in the Philippines 🇵🇭❤️
I hope so too!
I think its a kind of suman "kakanin" . It's normally paired with coffee.
Hi Sir, u're the only person i've seen eating bod bod without using the wrapper, its meant to protect the hands from getting sticky, and our chicken halang halang here in a part of Mindanao do not use coconut milk, they use soy sauce. Take Care .___.
That's interesting, soy sauce. I had to show the whole thing to the camera so I unwrapped it all the way and then got down and sticky.
Hello Mr Butters, food here in the country is a lot healthier bec they are whole food.. Very rare using colorings or chemicals.. Enjoy!!
Yes and, maybe I'm imagining it but, people look healthier. Maybe because they walk a lot too.
Mr Butters are u still in dumaguete.. Need to meet up with other vlogger.. BUD BROWN and every man has his story (?)
Mr Butters, u answer fast. 😂😂😂
@@ameliatiu5260 I'm interested in local Filipino people. I'm not into Retirement issues and Girlfriend issues. Just local peeps and their endeavours. Thanks for the reply Amelia.
Oops I didn't mean it in those ways.. Just a meet up with co-foreigners and exchange tales of philippine experiences.. OK. Thanks.
Get to ground zero cafe look for the old dog
Hello again mr. Marshall, do you know Dumagete market is a very cleaned?! dislike in Manila market very worst! I proud to be a Dumagete!
I love ♥️ this Dumagete because of chocolate 🍫 is delicious yummy sweet! 😋🤤♥️👍
Yes, it was a very clean and nice place Richmond.
I haven't had chicken halang halang; it does look like chicken tinola, except it's spicy; looks good!
Hey Roy, As spicy as you want with those little Labuyo chilis. Small but hot!
Labuyo Chili is about 80,000-100,000 Scoville units🤣🤣
Is that bod-bod similar to or something like "suman" (sweet, sticky rice dessert)? It looks like one. Is it? Thanks.
She speaks English well.
Are there any places to stay that you liked. I can check them out and pick one before I get there. Thanks
I'm still at the Go Hotel and I've extended, even though their Internet is pretty bad the room's quiet and it's 20 Pesos in a tricycle to the action.
@@marshallbuttersvlogs6880 I like it, and if you are a walker like me it is about 2 kilometers to the action. Thanks. Unfortunately, we will miss each other, I won't be there for several months yet.
Another yummy episode.Dumaguete- famous place for retiring expats.I hope you get an interview with "Every Man Has a Story".He's based in dumaguete.
i hope your gopro is alright
Its not sesame seeds its millets
Eat kakanin without getting your hand sticky by using the banana leaf wrapper as your glove, so to speak
It's a tricky exercise as the banana leaf seems sticky as soon as you start to open it. But, it makes good sense to do that.
Hey Marshall. Hope you get to meet up with "Every Man Has a Story" and Bud Brown. Both foreign vloggers are from Duma.
I wish i could have a gf who is visaya, can help me to travel in visayan and mindanao area, in the future ❤🇵🇭
that call MORON dude, its a ground rice powder and others been flavour with chocolate
Not Bod Bod?
@@marshallbuttersvlogs6880 It's similar. Different regions just has different terms and ways of cooking
its not ground rice powder, basically is just sticky rice grains cooked with coconut milk, a little sugar and a little ginger then wrapped in banana leaf then steamed. (puto with more ginger, biko is the same but sweetened with brown sugar or muscovado). there's also another type made from gabi (taro) but its not common, usually made to order bases. also another one made from cassava. mango is usually served with the bodbod to alleviate the greasiness.
@@Alvyrre oh i see, because budbud in mindanao is basically a grated CASSAVA with sugar, sorry if i got wrong, I see it has a chocolate it there i tough and I assume it was a "MORON" from the VISAYAS REGION of LEYTE specialty.
