David lee Roth was a good showman but Freddie Mercury was a legend at it. But then again, I in my old age would put Ozzy, and AC/DC in the same light. They are legends. Happy to see you younger generation open your horizons our (yours and mine) legends of music

Eddie's smile is part of what made him so great. Instead of trying to look hard like so many musical artists tend to do, Eddie always had that big warm smile of his and it was wasn't just for show nor was it for the cameras. It was just part his natural demeanor to smile and it always made him stand out.

David Lee Roth was a great frontman and performer. I bet you'd love his music video to "Just a Gigolo". Also Eddie Van Halen, the guitarist of the band passed away recently. He's considered a virtuoso and one of the most influential guitarists. His Eruption Solo is iconic and he also played the solo in Michael Jackson's "Beat it". Van Halen was a real fun band.

Van Halen (pronounced with a "hard A") is the surname of Eddie (guitartist/keyboardist)& Alex (drummer). Yeah. It was technically their band, & Eddie was the virtuoso; all the members had a distinctive appealing personality & image, but it was David Lee Roth who brought the show. "Diamond Dave" was with the group since they started & broke big in the late 70s, until 1985 when personality issues & artistic differences finally split the group as it had been up to that time.

Texas can hear you Girl! Van Halen ruled the Rock and Roll world. One of the founding members, Eddie Van Halen, passed away last year. He took the electric guitar in a new direction. He was voted Guitar God by Guitar Magazine and Guitarist of the Century by Rolling Stone Magazine. Eddie's guitar, called The Frankenstein, is now on display in the Smithsonian. Your enthusiasm is so contagious.

I live in Shreveport Louisiana, where Valerie Bertinelli and her family were living when she met Eddie Van Halen in1981. They married a year later. Saw Van Halen three times in the 80’s (they would kick off tours here in Shreveport so Valerie and Eddie could visit with Valeries family). I wasn’t a huge fan of their music but their shows were insanely fun and I’m glad I saw them with Roth and before Eddie passed away. Lots of fun!

The guitarist Eddie Van Halen who recently passed away was an amazing player. When Michael Jackson was recording Thriller in LA he was working on Beat it. He told Quincy Jones he wanted a cool guitar solo in the song. He asked Quincy who the best guitarist was. Quincy said Eddie Van Halen. They called him and he was at home in LA working on the 1984 album. The album that Jump came from. Eddie came to the studio and listened to the base track 1 time. Told them to run it again, and played 1 solo that ended up on the album. Michael asked him how much he wanted for the session and Eddie said, no biggie keep it for free and thanks for the fun. Quincy and Michael were like, are you sure? How about a percentage of the single? He said no thanks. Within 3 years of its release the song was the biggest selling single in world history with 27 million copies sold. Dude was just a nice guy.

Met Eddie when they were doing a concert at the Saddledome in Calgary Alberta Canada. I owned a night club there and he came in the middle of the afternoon. Just me, him and the bartender. I didn’t know who he was at the time (I think he knew that ) as I wasn’t into that type of music much. Him and I talked for 2 hours and I finally asked him what he did for a living. He said “ I play in a band sometimes”. Cool. What is the name of it I asked? He said Van Halen. I just about fell off my chair. It was at that time I recognized him and realized I’d been talking to one of the greatest electric guitar players in the world. I will never forget that. Super nice guy. 😊
