I always carry an ultralight tarp and a couple adjustable poles. If I have to set up camp in the rain, the tarp is the first thing to go up. I can assemble a freestanding tent under the tarp and move it to an edge where the tarp shields the entrance. The tarp can provide cover for a picnic table. It can provide shade to work on the motorcycle if you break down in the middle of the desert.
Hi Mark, I'm 7 months late to the party on this one.. 😊 But with your dislike of toggles - get some small stainless steel keyrings just large enough for a toggle to fit through end on. Wind a keyring on to the loop the toggle is supposed to go through, then instead of trying to put the toggle through the loop just pop it through the keyring and it should still hold the door or fly open when rolled up.
Hey Mark. Thanks heaps for all you do on this channel, super good stuff. Just wanted to update you on this tent. I watched your review recently ( really good thanks) and just purchased this because you could set the fly before the inner tent, keeping everything dry. Like you, I love this feature. Unfortunately, since your review, the manufacturer has changed the fly connections, which means you need the inner tent in place before you can install the outer fly. Just wanted you and your viewers to know. Received new tent from Amazon on 12/08/2023. Cheers
Hi Mark, thank you very much for the heads up on this tent. I've had a Mongar 2 from Nature Hike for the last two years and it's great , light, strong and most importantly waterproof. I toured for two months in Europe in 2022 by bicycle and it was faultless. Sadly on the way back to Australia my bike box didn't end on my flight, this meant it was delivered by Singapore Airlines a few days later. Unfortunately Australian customs inspected the box because it was unaccompanied baggage and after inspection they didn't tape it back up. So during transport to me the aluminium tent frame was lost at some stage :^( . The aussie supplier doesn't carry spare frames and wanted $295 for a new tent and still do. When I saw your video at $169 I immediately ordered a new tent through your amazon link. Thanks mate, keep up the great work. Ps I'm doing a lap of Australia from Narooma in NSW, leaving the 26th April on my Yamaha XT1200 Super Tenere and will be camping using the Mongar 2.
The things Mark does in his own backyard, while the rest of us are sleeping in our comfortable household beds. Thanks Mark. Another informative review. 👍🏻🇦🇺
I’ve had this tent for a little over a year. I use it for motorcycle camping and it has been great. I bought the add on vestibule last summer and it’s great for when your parked in one spot for a couple days. It allows you to keep anything extra off the bike (luggage, gear, etc) and out of sight. :)
Very informative review of the tent. I like the fact that you loaded your gear in it as if moto camping. It gives you a better idea of real room in the tent . Thanks ,and keep them coming. 👍
23:55 - I have a smaller 1P (claimed 2P) tent from Naturehike and it’s really good that you point out that flaw with the low reaching mesh on all sides. While it is annoyingly breezy on a cold day, it also lets dust in freely in the gap between the fly and the low floor. After a windy night on a spot right at the rocky coastline, the tent, myself and all the gear was covered in dust and sand. The fly really should be a bit longer so one can stake it out or close it depending on the situation
A solution for your toggle issue mite be the Sea To Summit Field Repair Buckle Side Release 2pin 20mm. I used them to upgrade mine and they work a treat. I actually carry a few different sizes of them most of the time as my hands have a nack for busting clips. And why I needed to upgrade my toggles lol. Sausage fingers aren't always a good thing. Although my Mrs doesn't complain lol.
So, after watching your video, I bought the same tent on Amazon Canada, 169.00$ with a 30.00$ rebate offer. Unbeatable value! Thanks so much for sharing your evaluation on this great product. Keep on doing what you do. Cheers from Montréal!
G'day mark, another cracking video. Great to see you showing all the pro's/cons and taking the time to show it with the cross bar lowered, and setting it up under the fly. Nice to see a tent come with some decent pegs. Looking forward to seeing you put through it's paces in the real world. Keep up the great work.
WOW! just found your channel. i am in the U.S. like that tent. easy set up, love how the clips work on the corners, free standing. the tent i have now is a 3 person, it's huge for me, set it up once, took about 20 minutes, the stakes are crap, it does pack small, it's a nice tent, fits on the back of my bike nice, but i need a rain proof 50L bag to carry all my gear in. haven't camped yet, but soon. looking at a lot of people on YT and how they camp, cook, carry, etc. loved this video, you explained everything great. i thank you for that. be well, be safe.
Great video. I bought a different model, same brand from Amazon and I am mightily impressed. The design is just freakin awesome. So easy to use. I’ve tried it out overnight and absolutely no issues with moisture, ventilation etc etc . Really impressed with this brand. Definitely worth a look if you are budget conscious or even if you’re a rich bugger worth a look. I’d back up everything Mark has said. Huge thumbs up!!!
Patrick .. I’ve got a couple of Hillebergs … but I worry about them being stolen if I’m away from them (they are so expensive!) … so I agree with your post above 🎯.
What an absolute bargain! We really enjoyed the video. We have the exact same brand but we got the 4 person because we're 2 in there and still tons of room for gear. Lightweight and short aluminum poles are why we bought it. It's been good to us so far and really can't go wrong for the price. Thanks for the video and hope Nay and yourself have a great weekend. Cheers
Thinking depending on where you are camping, you could just use the base and fly… but with all the mesh seems like a night time viewer if you go fly less.
Completely thorough and informative review, as always. 👍🏼 Thanx so much for displaying weights and measurements in our crazy American standards. 👍🏼 (it actually helps a lot) Been following the channel since you were staking out the back yard for the now famous “garage”. What a fantastic ride indeed.
I agree I bought a Naturehike cloud up 2 in silnylon and was blown away by the amazing quality. And i did not pay a lot for it. Chose it because the length fit in my saddlebag. I must say I prefer your straight walls, and side door, mine is a single door on the front.
Great tent for the price! It has a very similar design to the REI half dome 2 which I've had for years. For an even lighter weight, slightly more packable shelter you can just use the ground sheet, poles and rainfly which is a neat feature. 👍
Wonderful video, love it!!! That is very similar to my Big Agnus Seed house except yours has two doors on either side which is WAY better then the BA which has one door and vestibule on the end.
Hello Mark; That is a very nice tent, its good to see new Tents that are useful for Motorbike Adv trips; I like it... Thanks for the Review of this model. AS i use a Hellenox Camp Bed, I will continue to use my Howiqua 3 person tent...I just like lots of space... David..Adelaide..Tiger 900Gt & Scrambler...
Last night I’ve got stucked in a snowstorm in Chile. There was no way travelling forward with my motorcycle. So I had to set up my tent. Man I’m so happy that I use a tent (hilleberg) where the inner tent is just implemented and it just takes me 2 minutes to set up the tent. Even though I think that NatureHike products are pretty good. Nice“review“! Jens
This is the tent that I bought a couple of years ago and I still love it. I usually prefer to camp with a Warbonnate Ridge runner bridge hammock though.
Very thorough review. Thanks. I prefer hammock camping. My Hennessy hammock is very comfortable, very lightweight and it packs small. I can't always find two trees, so a tent would be good for motorcycle camping, particularly in a desert or above the tree line. I bought the bits to pitch my Hennessy hammock on the ground but it's not very easy to enter or exit and it's very cramped. It's more of an emergency no-tree shelter. I'd like to do some longer motorcycle camping trips and there would be times when I'm stuck in the tent for a day due to inclement weather. It'd be great to have a tent like the Mongar 2 that had enough room for me and my stuff comfortably, and particularly enough room to sit upright.
I have a couple of these Mongar tents and they are great summer tents. Lots of mesh. Good quality. However some of them come with different fixings in the flysheet making it not possible to erect fly first when raining. I modified one of mine so you can and was an easy job. I have just ordered a vestibule for mine to add some space as a base camp set up.
Not sure how I just randomly found and watched a 35 min video of a random tent getting reviewed, but what a good review!! I’m getting ready for my first solo camping trip on the motorcycle 😊. I’m from the Netherlands and just googled this tent and found it a Temu for around 100 euro😮😮 I’m still researching but it looks the same as the one on Amazon 😮
Bloody Riper!....How did you know I needed a new tent? Looks good to me...I'm gonna get this for my next adventure ride and the 2023 riding season... Great review. Thanks Mark! Steven in the USA....
Star River is a very similar tent from the same manufacturer with higher side walls on the inner. I do prefer the Mongar myself though, because you can't admire the views while laying down with high side walls, unless you wanna let in the mozzies, of course. It is a summer tent for sure, but I'd get something smaller (and easier to warm up with your body heat) for winter anyways.
I found in cold weather - by taking an emergency blanket and a bunch of adhesive Velcro dots meant I could screen off the prevailing wind side to stay a little more protected. Also, the guy ropes left on mean you can tie off a small tarp on the guy ropes and extend the tarp to the bike for a bigger vestibule in inclement weather.
Mark your two door two vestibule “requiment” is spot on !! Hikers don’t carry lids and gloves etc … bike camping guys do need a little more vestibule space ! This tent is attractive.. but maybe just a smidge too small for 1.83m guys ? If you have a Helinox cot or a 9cm pad … that’s too little space for feet !! You’ll touch the condensation.😢
Thanks for this. I am currently looking for a tent and I had been looking at a hammock tent that can be a ground tent too. As a newbie I hadn’t considered that you do need room for all the gear! Incidentally, 40 years ago, when I was a biker first time around, I came off and skidded on my backside until I head butted a fuel pump just like the one that you have! The pump attendant, a family friend, watched the whole thing as I arrived at her feet! Shame overload. Ripped the heel off my cowboy boots too! She still reminds me occasionally which is nice...not!😒
I hv one I picked up in Thailand simmerler but taller so better when hv to spend rainy days chair fits in very comfortably, I can almost stand up , I spend 3 months at a time summer months traveling state parks. Done the north pole run Last yr I hv inverter on my bike so hv electric 😅 😀 mines all cortex materials and hv door on both sides 😀 😄 bought over there 75 $ costs me about the same to ship back 5 yrs ago , but mine is larger pac. And fiberglass poles
nice tent i have to say... only drawback i see is that there is only mesh on the sidewall and with rain or opening the vestibule you can have rain dropping inside the tent
Great in detail review as always! Looks like all the people buying from your review has bumped the price up its now $219 haha ! This review inspired me to replace my tent and I decided to spend a little more and go the other 2 man version Naturehike Opalus Lightweight Camping Tent 4 Season Backpacking Tent , not much more costwise but gives me that bit extra space. Cheers
Can you test the Lone rider tent? Seems very nice sized and built in garage is nice too. Plus the fact the living area is a tent inside a tent makes one think it should work very well
Hey bloke, I'm surprised you didn't accidentally set fire to it... 😜 Keep up the great work, you are a legend and my ADV wife and I really like your videos...
Freestanding, one pole, what's not to love? thanks! Unfortunately, not available on Amazon at this time...in fact, no other tent models from this store are available either.....
like your vids on tents, just looking at the howqua 2 what i saw in one of your vids, now ive seen this vid im not sure lol, just wish you could show the tents in their bags so i'd know how big the pack size is i'd need to get on the bike.
Used this same tent on a adv 7 day trip mid winter to cameron corner. Only fault is floor became torn due to bottom of legs on my lightweight stretcher / cot rubbing. My fault as i should of used some sort of padding to protect the floor. The ground sheet supplied is very lightweight and its worth debatable.
Does this type of tent have a specific name type? I ask as it seems to be identical to the Lone Rider ADV tent and I'd like to look to see if there are others of a very similar design. Thanks.
I bought a “cheap “half decent 3 season tent quite awhile back along with some camp gear wanting to start camping …..still hasn’t happened yet lol but now I’m already thinking of upgrading the unused (setup in living room only and waterproofed seems ) tent for something like this 😂……I did just get a bike too , thou a fz1 isn’t really a camp bike hehe
Cheers, from New Zealand! I had to laugh, mate! Talk about doing everything kak-handed! Lol. Groundsheet/ footprint, frame, THEN INNER, then cover! Super easy. Lol.
Great review, I'm not sure yet if I should go for the 210T polyester or the 20D Nylon. The price difference for me are just 5€, is ther something I can go wrong with the 20D Nylon?
Really like that tent and thanks for doing this review, however I'm not keen on the fly sheet being so high from the ground, too much cold air going through, pitty too as I was ready to pull the trigger on buying it 👍
Me too! Love love love the nomad. I have the 3 person one. I use aluminium poles from an old tent (alu poles are shorter folded). I have a separate bag for the poles and an old sleeping bag bag for the cloth making it easier to fit on the bike. It's simplicity and set up speed in the dome design and enormous amount of room inside and its big doors make the nomad a real winner for me. I sleep on the diagonal though otherwise I touch the sides at 6ft but I use one triangle for all paniers, top box and mc gear and the other massive triangle of floor space for whatever I feel like because it is huge. I just wish there was a better quality version of the same simple design.
Buying a tent for a return to moto camping trip from UK to Greece and back last September/October the tent options are numerous! Ended up with a $114 AUD pop up 2 man tent. Quality is good. Nets and outer are all in one package, out of the bag and UP in 25 seconds! 100% Honest! Y Waterproof, plenty or ventilation and air flow for 40c temps. Out the bag and up and if raining you can be in it in within 30 seconds or so in the dry. You can open the two doors and put the pegs in whilst under cover + 6'5''/195cm and I'm OLD, riding bikes for over 60years!!!!!!! Nice tent but all that faffing around and time to erect and take down. The pop up is down and folded within 40 seconds, it take long to get it back in its bag.
@@Marcspix. "Olpro" is the brand, quite a few seller's in the UK. I liked that it went up so fast and I could get straight in it in rain after 500km in rain. Plenty of ventilation in 40°c as well and you could leave the small top cover off on very hot dry nights on Adriatic coast. Compared to friends Vango at 3 + times the price it came out well they were still faffing around with. Poles whilst I was under cover.
Great Looking tent! Lol i could have put money on you keeping that one the more the video went on haha. The ability of outer fly first for setting up in the rain is the first thing i look for in a tent it is such a handy feature.
Really like the design and weight of this tent, but I think I need to see if they make one for taller folks. All that gear you put in there, and no pee bottle?
Just a little over 5 pounds? That's not bad considering what you get,it doesn't brake the scale. I've seen other so-called light weight kits that are not so light weight.
Yes, tarp over tent entrance is the best all weather set up !!
.
Hi Mark, I'm 7 months late to the party on this one.. 😊
But with your dislike of toggles - get some small stainless steel keyrings just large enough for a toggle to fit through end on.
Wind a keyring on to the loop the toggle is supposed to go through, then instead of trying to put the toggle through the loop just pop it through the keyring and it should still hold the door or fly open when rolled up.
WOW that sounds like a great idea... thanks I'll give it a try! 👍
That is one more great idea I will add to the list to do to my new tent. Have never seen one without toggles. Those fabric loops are so fiddly.
Hey Mark. Thanks heaps for all you do on this channel, super good stuff. Just wanted to update you on this tent. Had this tent for about 3 years it's been on many an adventure and withstood many a storm I can't fault it at all.

I am surprised that the helicopters don't swoop in and arrest him for doing this in his own backyard. Aussiland is such a fascist sh.thole now.

Got one and i am very happy with it. Done many campings with it, stood strong on 80+ kph winds and flooding storms with no scratch nor leaks at all.
The most generous and genuine UA-camr on the planet! Bless you and bless Nay!
This is the best video I have seen showing the capabilities of this tent..
So, after watching your video, I bought the same tent on Amazon Canada, 169.00$ with a 30.00$ rebate offer. Unbeatable value! Thanks so much for sharing your evaluation on this great product. Keep on doing what you do. Cheers from Montréal!

I have a NatureHike stretcher, it has the option for both low and high off the ground.. another great product by the company.😎
Nice review Mark. Even got me thinking about tents again!
Good Onya Nerb!
What? Nerb in a Tent?! It’s a scandal!! Shock! Horror!!
What an absolute bargain! We really enjoyed the video. We have the exact same brand but we got the 4 person because we're 2 in there and still tons of room for gear. Great information Mark. I like the just go for it setup as well makes for great entertainment.
Thinking depending on where you are camping, you could just use the base and fly… but with all the mesh seems like a night time viewer if you go fly less.
I bought the Naturehike ‘Star-River’ few months back. Pretty much same layout but has larger door openings on both sides
The Outdoor gear review has an extensive test on this model. Does some great reviews on hiking gear.
Been using mine hiking for several years now. Great tent!

The best review on the internet! I have just bought one in 20D fabric. I like it more than my Big Agnes Copper Spur hv2.
Solid review mate looks like a great option 👌

That's funny. I just posted a new tent video yesterday. I decided to go with a larger 4 person tent, the Coleman, Hooligan 4.
nice tent i have to say... only drawback i see is that there is only mesh on the sidewall and with rain or opening the vestibule you can have rain dropping inside the tent
Great in detail review as always! Looks like all the people buying from your review has bumped the price up its now $219 haha ! It’s back to $170 a few months later
Can you test the Lone rider tent? Seems very nice sized and built in garage is nice too. Plus the fact the living area is a tent inside a tent makes one think it should work very well
Good review Mark. I'm with you on those bloody toggles. They are a pain in the you know what..
Thank you for sharing this video how to set up this tent!
Hey bloke, I'm surprised you didn't accidentally set fire to it... 😜 Keep up the great work, you are a legend and my ADV wife and I really like your videos...
Was looking for something a bit better then the one I currently have, many thanks for the review, have ordered one before everyone else does.
Very good review Mark and bloody good tent.
Freestanding, one pole, what's not to love? thanks! Unfortunately, not available on Amazon at this time...in fact, no other tent models from this store are available either.....
Very similar ten is a Star River by nature hike , also very good
like your vids on tents, just looking at the howqua 2 what i saw in one of your vids, now ive seen this vid im not sure lol, just wish you could show the tents in their bags so i'd know how big the pack size is i'd need to get on the bike.
Glad you listened to me!
Same design as a hubba hubba rent, but way cheaper 😊
I never thought the cot would fit in the tent. I does have a lot of great features for the price, Mark.
Brilliant review Mark, cheers!
👍
Excellent review there Mark! The tent looks the Dogs Nuts👍🏻😎
Does this type of tent have a specific name type? I ask as it seems to be identical to the Lone Rider ADV tent and I'd like to look to see if there are others of a very similar design.
Thanks.
How short can you pack it down to fit in a pannier? Min length of the poles?
I bought a “cheap “half decent 3 season tent quite awhile back along with some camp gear wanting to start camping …..still hasn’t happened yet lol but now I’m already thinking of upgrading the unused (setup in living room only and waterproofed seems ) tent for something like this 😂……I did just get a bike too , thou a fz1 isn’t really a camp bike hehe
Brilliant thank you for going in-depth on this one 👍
Cheers for the vid mate! I've been lookin for a decent tent and found a crowd that sell them here in nz. 😁
Well that mat separate bag will be useful in case your mat gets dirty.
It's a tow season tent .If you go in an area where there is minus 15 centigrade, then what will be the case with you ?
I have the Naturehike chair and it's also a good bit of kit too.
Another great review Mark. Could you salvage the clips off of the old tent and sew them onto this tent. You also stitch some extra pockets in?
Love your videos, mate, great stuff from the UK.
i like it a lot but its no longer available. i do have a tent anyways tho one of those instant pop up kind. thanks for the video
Cheers, from New Zealand! I had to laugh, mate! Talk about doing everything kak-handed! Lol. Groundsheet/ footprint, frame, THEN INNER, then cover! Super easy. Lol.
Hey Mark..Can you have a look at the mesh on the inner tent and see if its Midgie proof?...a must in the tropics...many thanks
I don't know how to tell? 😩
@@BikerBits is the mesh a lot? Finer than normal. Fly screen on the house
Not long enough for me at 6'3" among other issues I saw. But decent for an inexpensive option.
Great review, I'm not sure yet if I should go for the 210T polyester or the 20D Nylon. The price difference for me are just 5€, is ther something I can go wrong with the 20D Nylon?
what's the go with having the frazzledrip ball? you got something you need to tell us?
Really like that tent and thanks for doing this review, however I'm not keen on the fly sheet being so high from the ground, too much cold air going through, pitty too as I was ready to pull the trigger on buying it 👍
You could try getting the cot in without the legs on then put the legs on after it's in the tent
That would work! 👍
Could possibly put the ground hook loops inside the actual tent hook loop? Making the lack of tautness a non issue…
Looks good. Would be nicer if the vents were higher up as a lot of warm moist air will stay at the top. Otherwise looks like a deal!
Nice tent Mark, still happy with my Oztrail Nomad 2, value for money. Except trying to get it back in the bag, it's a squeeze.
*I don’t like bags in bags*
Bloody right Mark !
One big bag for everything speeds up the process
Buying a tent for a return to moto camping trip from UK to Greece and back last September/October the tent options are numerous! Ended up with a $114 AUD pop up 2 man tent. Quality is good. Nets and outer are all in one package, out of the bag and UP in 25 seconds! 100% Honest! Y
Waterproof, plenty or ventilation and air flow for 40c temps.
What Brand?
Flash sale where I am on their site so 20% discount on rrp......pulled the trigger :)
Great fit in the Tanax seatbag.......
Almost like the LoneRaider adv tent who is better but this tent you show is maybe second best.
Sure beats the Mitchell biker swag, helinox stretcher is a little bit glamping.
Most hard core would just use the sea to summit inflatable mattress.👍👍
I wondered where Wilson went! Is he ok?
Did you do a water shed test?
Good looking tent! I’m still rocking the howqua 3! Been thinking about something new myself so might look into these 👍
Really like the design and weight of this tent, but I think I need to see if they make one for taller folks. All that gear you put in there, and no pee bottle?
Also, that putting it up backwards was genius. Never would have occurred to me.
i always take the toggles off and replace them with magnets
Mark what length is the pole set..
Gday mark thank you for another great vid
Mate just wondering when mct is coming back I miss it on a Tuesday night thanks again and keep them coming
This Tuesday coming 👍
Just a little over 5 pounds? That's not bad considering what you get,it doesn't brake the scale. I've seen other so-called light weight kits that are not so light weight.
13:00 ... I thought he were going to have a Russell Coight moment :)
