- This was such a fun project. I use my Cricut to cut a vinyl design for this project. I should you how I cut and paint the bottle to transform it into a beautiful light.
For Projects like this, I use an inexpensive vinyl because I'm taking it off. Here's the link for that and the paint I used.

Instead of using seam ripper how about using small or skinny tip tweezers then you can grab it from middle...no scratching of the paint!

You might want to try to use a black matte primer.....

Hi Barbara, I can definitely help if you have more questions. For my wine bottles I normally use a 9 inch wide decal. I see in your other comment you said you ordered one. Was it the right size for the bottle you're using? I hope your bottles turn out perfect for your kids. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want. I'd love to help any way I can.
Really nice project thanks for sharing. Just purchased lights on Ebay with a cork insert and battery switch attached to the cork you can buy how many metres you need and really cheap. Hoping it will fit my bottle if not I am sure I can work my way through a bottle that the cork fits.

In which material is that love you to the moon and back printed???is it paper?
It's a vinyl decal. I make the design and cut the decals on my Cricut.
Can you please go more into detail. I've tried this and when I take off the decal all the paint is coming off with it 😔 what am I doing wrong !! I'm trying to make one of these lamps for my daughter birthday.... We always say love you to the Moon and back and I thought this was so cute. Please help!!!!!
Hi! I'm sorry your having problems with the paint. What kind of paint are you using? In some of my more recent video's I use spray paint. I would recommend trying that. Be sure to use spray paint that has primer.

Yes, I tried it without the primer and the paint just peels right off. I've only used the chalk paint and spray paint but I would think other acrylic paint would work just fine.

Hi Dawn, if you check out the description of the video there's a like to the adhesive vinyl I use from Amazon. My favorite vinyl is oracal 651 which has a better adhesive but for projects like this I use one that is easier to remove.
When do I put on the sealer coat?
The sealer will be the last step before you remove the decal. I recommend letting the sealer dry overnight before removing the decal.
Can you use Armour Etch.

Can i use sauce bottle instead of wine bottle?

The edges of the glass are not very sharp. It depends on how straight it breaks.

Love the information; well presented. Why does younger generation have habit of speaking with voice rising as if asking a question when not asking a question. It is very annoying.
