- 🎸 Elevate your guitar skills with exclusive guitar lessons & tips at JustinJohnsonGu... Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to master advanced techniques, I'll share with you everything I've learned in my guitar journey 🎸
The "Forbidden Riff" (the intro guitar riff of "Stairway to Heaven") was the the first thing I ever learned when got my first guitar, so writing a solo guitar arrangement of this really brought me full circle. It was such a journey diggin' into this song's riffs, vocal melodies, bass lines, chord progression variations, voicings, and of course... the most epic guitar solo ever recorded! Every time I arrange a new Led Zeppelin tune for guitar, I gain a new world of appreciation for them. If you want the tabs, here's the link: www.musicnotes...

Thank you!
are these tabs for the version played here or are they tabs for the original by LZ?
the Guitar Pro file come too ?
AMAZING JOB! Thanks for sharing it.
The only dude left in America who can play the "forbidden riff" in any music store or any other place his swampy heart desires. This is just superlative. Thanks Justin
kevin O'Rourke
PERFECT! I was going to write the exact same thing!
Best comment i've ever read
He kind of had to share this one with us at some point. And it was sweet. Thank you Justin
Agreed!

I'm 65 years old and still a Led Zeppelin fan. This is an amazing performance ! He is really a very good musician !!!
I’m afraid that I have to disagree with you. He’s a great musician.
You have a gift of making the vocal melodies sound very natural and not rushed. Often times I hear folks attempt to do this while playing their own rhythm and the melody comes out as stuttered, hurried, and/or mechanical. You sound like two people…it’s really amazing to witness.
Indeed
It's even more amazing to hear it.
He's the Best😊
The only one to have the LICENSE TO PLAY STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN. No words man, full respect.
Don't understand why this is forbidden to be played in guitar stores. Justin, this is the finest and the most superior rendition of this song. I am so happy to have stumbled upon you. Everyday you supply me with a new "treat" from this channel. Thank you.
Music store employee: "Sir, we dont allow that to be played in.....oh, i take that back, you go right ahead sir!"
lol Perfect reply because goes with what I first thought and tribute to him as much music as I have saved on the web and at home other than the vinyl with this on it I have not even heard this full tune in yrs :) but didn't hesitate to hear him doing it acoustic:) Thanks for the :) Peace Rick
Well said. I love Justin. If you want a treat listen to Thea Gilmore singing Sweet Child of Mine. Enjoy. Greetings from the UK
I always read this kind of phrase that says "stairway to heaven not allowed to be played in music store".
What's with the song? Sorry i don't have any idea.
@@benaplokcampandgo I think that its more to do with the huge number of times someone would want to check out a guitar, and then try to play the first bit. Over and over all day this would go on at a store. The clincher is that it was usually a really bad effort, probably since a beginner would be most likely to have been shown how it was supposed to work, but couldn't quite get it. Imagine being a guitar store employee and having to hear that all shift. Even when it was played well it would have been so repetitive to a worker. Example of a great song that the radio stations ruined for some by playing it all the time as well.
@@michaeljarvis5489 i see. I thought theres a law that prohibit it to play and you'll be put to jail. Thanks for the reply mate.
Love how you so seamlessly combined the backing music with the vocal aspects. PS - who are these people who downvote these videos? They must live a miserable existence
Guitar center employees of the 90s

No accounting for Taste in music. Bushyboy Oz.
At 1.5k up and 5 down, most of those downvotes are probably unintentional fat-thumb mistakes.
I'm sure it was an accident, they really meant to push the "like" button!
Yes there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run there’s still time to change the road you’re on. Skillful job on this cover man
I read your comment just as I was singing that exact verse.
The stairway to heaven or the road to heaven . I choose the road .

@@lebe220 I did , but I didnt use the masks . I could not breath in them . And I didnt do the lock down, I need to be out. What did you do? I dont judge.
Justin has taken perfection to a whole other level. No other arrangement of this song even comes close.
Oh stop !! Lolol Do you know how many covers of this song there are ?!!! You havnt even heard a 1/4 of them so say “ that i’ve heard” please.
Damn. No words to explain the real master-level execution of this. Inspiring.
BORING guitar slappin' WHAHWHAHHWHAAa
That's really what this is huh? Blues taken to its limit
It’s amazing indeed!!
What a time we live in. I can just hop onto youtube and and savor a post modern delta blues player's excellent arrangement of Stairway to Heaven. Thanks! and Bravo!!!
At 3:45 I was like......here we go, how's he gonna do this? Was not dissapointed at all. How you kept the solo in time, walked the bass down with your thumb as you played the fast section.....mind blown!!!!!
I was looking for this comment. So true.
@@coryCuc I was too 😂👌 The amount of muscles moving separately at one time in his hand is insane 😤
I noticed that too , he is at the level of Tommy Emmanuel for sure. God skill level .
Yes, also noticed that the low E string was tuned to F to make this more seamless
Six and a half minutes of pure genius, arrangement and execution absolutely top notch. Easily the best cover I have heard of this.
The comfort and ease you play with shows just how much work you must have done over the years to get there and combined with what presents as a natural talent for expression culminates into simply beautiful music when you play. I hope to one day be as comfortable with any of the instruments I have picked up over the years!
I've played this song for over forty years. Hat's off to the master.

I always just stop what I'm doing to listen to these. They always have such a nice sound
Next week is my 70th birthday and I have loved this song since the first time I heard it so many years ago. But never played so beautifully acoustically. It will be my birthday tune to start my seventh decade 😉 . Thanks for all the talent and beautiful music you share with all. You are a very special, talented individual.
Happy 70th birthday, Jan! I love that this will be part of the soundtrack!

I'm 75, and I still say, that this is the best rock and roll song ever!
Fantastic session. Makes me long for the days when men played music with feel, technique, and passion. Thanks for playing one of the greatest guitar songs ever written. Pure joy and love for all who love music.
At one with your instrument. I’m so happy for you to have reached that level of capability. Thank you for sharing your beautiful music with the world.
Thanks! I close my eyes and I feel like climbing a stairway to heaven.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the support! 🎸🤘
This is the best acoustic arrangement of the song I've heard. I love it.
Absolutely. And there are SO many.
Lucas imbiriba still is the best

I too learned that intro very early in my guitar journey, however I've never learned the whole song. Your arrangement here is the best cover/version I've ever heard. Amazing how you could even nail that solo while keep the beat going! You are the champ brother!! BOOOOM!!
🔥💯🎶🔥💯🎶
Did you ever play it at guitar center tho?
Jesus you can hear the words. Amazing.
YESSSSS,so do I. I can really imagine and see on my mind the golden lion "Robert Plant" shaking his Tamborine and the mystic Jimmy Page playing his double-neck electric Guitar on the stage of the Central Park Stadium in New York😙😙😙💕💕💕✌✌✌🎤🎸🎧🎶🎻🎼🎹
Don't know why you have to use the Lourdes name
I've been listening to this song for 50 years, and love it every time. I thought I knew every note and nuance by heart. Listening to your sweet, quiet, sensitive rendition was like hearing it for the very first time, only better. Your style and interpretation allows the true beauty of this song to shine through, more than anyone else's version. Thank you, Justin.
I've been a fan of Led Zep since I first heard one of their songs as a kid in the 70's. That was even better. I never thought I would say that...
Regular guitar player; Plays Stairway to Heaven.
Justin Johnson; Plays Stairway to Heaven while sitting next to a lit up stairway to heaven. Genius.
That is a killer lamp
I Just Love that lamp, and now after hearing a he is my buddy
I love the attention to detail in your videos as well as the music; always right setting, attitude and clothing. Love it
I got chills when the solo kicked in
You should go into a guitar store and play them that!
Cool idea.
🙌🏻
And if the clerks still try to shut you down, then tell them that you are playing "Taurus" by Spirit!
Wayne's World !
No stairway...
Thank you Justin! I convinced my wife to listen to you this late night, despite she has to get up early in the morning. And I noticed with pleasure also you play on the Furch guitar, we are both Czech...
So nice to see a master and his instrument in harmony of each other,
The most high would tell you that you have pleased him very well.
Mighty long walk backwards in time, this was just stunning.
This was the song that let me really grok what "taking chords apart and putting them back together" really means. Love the way Justin can get the melody, lead guitar, bass, and sometimes percussion out of one instrument.
Finally someone who knows what it means to really what grok means
You said what I was feeling but didn't have the words for.
I dedicate this song to my sister who passed away last year..it was her favorite song. You know who she is. Thanks brother
Sry ‘bout that man ❤️
@@r3dh4wk71 thanks friend. I hope you have a great weekend
You’ll see her again…
Very heartfelt sorrow for your loss...I lost my son in 2020...he is the reason I found Justin Johnson, who just showed up on my phone one summer mourning...morning...he caught my eye because he looks so much like Donny Jr...and I'm still not over it...Justin filled a request of mine and my husband, by playing his rendition of Tears in heaven...Justin helped me through my loss...he can do the same for you, God's Love, Mary
Dziękujemy.
Dziękujemy!
That was probably the most pleasurable experience I have ever had watching someone play the guitar. Absolutely love your creativity. 👏
This speaks to a particular part of my soul, that doesn't get a lot of use nowadays. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Every dance I went to in High School played this song 🎵 as the last one of the night. One of my all time favs.
Who needs a stairway to heaven when we have this miraculous guitar player on earth! Fan-tas-tic!!!
Mr. Johnson certainly knows how to get the juice out of every note....... A sweet, evocative arrangement.
Justin is a guitar God! I can't say enough about him, he is truly up there with Hendrix, SRV, and Clapton.
Your music is so relaxing! I had my grandma listen to this while she was getting shots because she's like seriously afraid of needles. It helped her calm down, and she forgot that she was getting shots.
I could listen to this over and over......wait a minute......I do!!! It draws you in. So clean and such depth but every note amazing! Mr. Johnson, your music is top shelf. So good that I am not accomplished enough at anything to entitle me to use your first name. Please keep up the awesome work! And Thank You for all of the amazing work you have already done!
It's the guitar that makes the world go round. And men like Justin!! Awesome.
Whats sets this fella apart for me is he find and places notes into spaces left by other guitarists. flawless.
Perfect for today. Easy on the ears and the mind. Thank you
There are people who have tried to do this with machines to do it for them and like its skill. But none of these "midi packs" cannot replicate anything like this. This is what music is, this is what musical skills look like. This is a beautiful performance that out beats any machine there is out there and always will. Thank you for performing this beautiful piece
AMEN To That ….. And I’m climbing that stairway to heaven! 🎼 🎸🎸🎸❤️
Because it's done by a living human being with a God given gift.
@@mattmccain8492 I would call it dedication more than a gift. He's probably spent tens of thousands of hours playing guitar. If you put enough time and effort into pretty much anything, you will get really good at it.
@@josephr4761 Do not agree, I tried. Only the blessed crack through the ceiling.
Gifted is an understatement. Absolutely fabulous arrangement.
Always puts alittle tear in my eye but it always makes me happy when I’m thinking of the good times I had with the family and friends that I have lost! They are always here with me when I’m listening to this beautiful music!
Justin, you are simply incredible! Every time I see one of your videos, I think ‘This can’t be topped’. Then you top it!
While I’ll never have your skills (I’m 66 now), I learn from you with each video. Thank you.
Awesome arrangement and execution! By far the best acoustic version I've ever heard.
Knew it would be good. But that was unreal. Gave me the chills.
Justin this is just sublime. The feel and emotion projected in the arrangement reflects just how indelible this piece is for those who were fortunate enough to have the opening lines of Stairway tattooed upon our hearts and minds when we first tried guitar.
Most grateful brother J.

Your sound is magic, your fingers's
movements are hypnotic.
I could listen to this man's videos all day. He is extremely talented.
This is the best cover of this classic song that I have ever heard and seen Justin! Thank you for sharing.
Lucas Imbiriba bruh 👍
Tears in my eyes.
I got a chance to see Led Zeppelin in concert years ago. This was the very last song the played for their encore, it’s always been my favorite 😍. This is such a beautiful rendition of it. I love the way you play! Thank you ♥️♥️
Watching the Masters hands is mesmerizing. That is the most clean playing I have ever seen. Technically perfect. Oh my goodness.
Anyone would have to practice for incredible hours and even from those, only a handfull have a true gift. This is just beautiful.
Head phones, eyes close pure solace. Thanks Justin
Beautifully said 👍🏼
You are my idol mate. Not just being an awesome guitar player but also presenting humble, unpretentious, friendly approach. Btw awesome shirt and hat collection;)
I thing that shirt is very rare..
Amazing my Brother. I'm 53 and a Combat Veteran who doesn't hear well anymore, but what is completely unexpected is I used to listen to Hard Rock and Classic Rock as a teenager all the time, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Boston, Bob Segar, Sammy Hagar, RUSH, AC⚡DC, and the Eagles and the list goes on and on but as I have gotten older I hear the real Beauty of the Instruments and not so much of the Vocals anymore. You are VERY VERY Talented and you've Killed It to get this Great. Hell of a Job Brother. God Bless You.....
Thank you for your service and sacrifice Michael. Our veterans never get enough respect. I'm also 53, had 2 uncles and 2 uncle in laws serve in US 🇺🇸 Army, so I just grew up with respect for military. I grew up with same music as you, lost some of my hearing in my right ear due to black mold destroying my eardrum but still belt out tunes because I love to sing and even though I cannot play instruments anymore due to lupus, RA, diabetes/neuropathy, and fibromyalgia I still love the sounds they make when others who are gifted play.
How..do..56 yrs here...this was great and I play..Justin plays slow music..it's excellent. I was deployed as a Jet Engine Mechanic..Desert Shield/ Storm..sat in with bands over there..
Another spark of genius to enhance my day. You have a unique gift Justin to bring the music to life and journey into the ether.
Best example of playing with soul beats every fast player, that was really beautiful to listen to.
Mr Justin Johnson...Daaaammmm... I have never heard it played so well in my life. Thank you.🐺
Wow!!!..... You just put me in a state of nirvana! ....Just sublime!
You have warmed my heart! What a WONDERFUL arrangement ... THANK YOU!!!!
Brilliant work brother!
Stairways been a life song since school days and Im 59 now - but never heard it like this. Stunning.
Хорошо дядька играешь. У меня пальцев таких нет. Увы. Чувствую тебя как родную душу. Спасибо.
That’s what you call magic of the fingers
Could be my favorite to date. The unexpected ghost of Hendrix was brilliant. Thank you! ❤️
Over the years I’ve heard many renditions of “stairway to heaven”. Yours is one of the best.
