Definitely one of the best comparison videos I have watched. I passed on both of these. I really don't have the space, but they are both very cool in their own ways.
If you have a masterpiece collection you have to go for Haslab imo, just down to size. Outside of that Studio Cell is just better for everything else. Yes the transformation is a pain, but after a few goes it's not bad at all, considering the engineering. It's kinda why I started a legends collection to go with Studio Cell, he's worth it.

Great video Tm. Sad to see you're letting studio cell unicron go. For me, I'd pick the studio cell over haslab because I prefer the sculpt and articulation more than anything else. I think over the years, studio cell unicron is going to age better based on how it looks.
I regrettably passed on the HasLab Unicron but I did pick up the 01 Studio Cell Unicron. I hadn't got back into Transformers when the HasLab was going on. So I picked up Studio Cell as a full in with hopes of getting HasLab Unicron somehow. Seeing them side by side really no comparison.
Great review, I thought I was a fan of the Studio Cell 01 due to the cleanliness and engineering. But!!!!! That Haslab is seriously impressive and only when they’re side by side can I appreciate what Haslab have actually done. The sculpted detail (which I didn’t think I’d be a fan of) looks amazing and the paint just takes it to another level. Not sure which I prefer now
For once, I agreed with you on every category, TMReviews. My choice is Cell, since I really could not order Haslab Unicron. Although, even if I could have with the same price I still would have chosen Cell. It is just much more accurate representation of the movie version of Unicron, and with the improved planetary rings that I have bought separately, their differences in planet mode are not that striking. I care about the scale, but in Unicron's case it does not matter, since neither figure is not even close to the right size with the Masterpiece scaled figures.
With the new Studio Cell updated color scheme of the actual cartoon exact Grey and yellow and just the accurate sculpt and excellent engineering its Cell hands down. HasLab only has its large size as an advantage considering cost it should have been better. You cant even really pose HasLab well its so clunky while Cell you can pose him so many ways.Even in cell's planet mode you can add the additional panels updated extension rings and stand doubles as the mouth to improve the overall look. Cell's see through stomach panel even leaves the option to put an additional light inside the stomach to light that area up to create another cartoon accurate feature, I put a light in mine looks very cool. I think Haslab made a valiant attempt it has some good points but Studio Cell actually pulled it off brilliantly.
My final choice was room space. I did the measurements. There was only one place I could put a figure. I chose Studio Cell. Am I ever gonna transform him into planet mode? Hell no. Am I gonna pose the hell out of him and enjoy him like heck in robot mode? hell yes! Like I'm content where he's at. You walk into my room he's instantly the one that catches your eye. I mean so does Hasbro's, but if I had gotten Hasbro's I'd wanted him in planet mode. That thing is absolutely gorgeous in planet mode. I just enjoy Studio Cell's robot mode more.
Haslab is bigger and has a slightly nicer planet mode, bu that's because he's a shellformer. Cell is better in literally every other metric. I'm definitely glad I went with him instead.
I was always turned off by the panel forming and chunky proportions of the haslab unicron. TMReviews live stream changed my mind a bit because I did not know about the various upgrade kits. There are kits for separating the panels from the body to form the planet and robot at the same time, plus the LED upgrades for the eyes and the rings. All of that combined will make the haslab unicron an impressive display piece. Personally, I am sticking with my 01-studio Cell.
@@gtoney AHAHAHA OK to each their own. I also build Gunpla I'm big on aesthetics and build quality ......I'm a cherry picking MFer lol. I'll take build quality and what's pleasing to the eye all day long over scale.
Went with the Pumpkin version of Studio Cell. Definitely looks awesome with Legends scale figures. I should have picked up the HasLab version just for resale value. It's definitely not worth it but I guess lots of people think it's worth quite a bit more than it sold for initially. 😁
I suggest you keep Haslab in planet mode and Zeta in bot mode! You may even get the conversion kit that allows you to remove the shell of the Haslab planet and have him in both modes
Great comparison video, best one I’ve seen between these two. It’s a win win with either one unless you looking for scale. That thumbnail image, makes me wish that they will be a OS Studio Cell at a haslab size. Maybe it will happen…..But awesome video as always.👍🏽
I've decided to wait until I get the Fans Toys Unicron. I've already built an extension on to the house and reinforced the foundation. Took out a few trees as well...should make it easier to get the heavy equipment into the back yard when they deliver it. lol
Nice comparison vid though the One point I have to seriously question is giving the transform point to the Haslab unicron. You did not really go into that part since showing the transformations of each on camera would be a headache and then some, but judging by vids from other reviewers, transforming the Studio Cell version seems like its a lot easier on the user's hands and arms due to sheer mass alone, plus going through the process with the Cell toy lets you really appreciate some of the cleverness to the engineering that lets you switch between modes. Put another way, I dont think anyone will get up and transform the haslab version just for fun or to play with it while with the cell toy that's actually something you might do to occupy idle hands.
I want a version of Cell that's the same figure but has all the greebling and panel lines like the Haslab has, I much prefer the sculpt of Haslab, the asymmetrical details on his chest, the more detailed and robotic face, the bigger horns, he just looks cooler
While I like both figures I’m definitely not worried about scale and more so accuracy is robot mode. I got my Cell for $300 shipped and am fairly happy with it. Currently displayed with Fans Toys takes on Galvatron and Cyclonus as I eagerly await their version of Scourge/Sweeps
My prediction: Screen Accuracy - "Sorry Haslab, but you lose." Honestly it's a giant tossup to me. I like the Haslab size and detail work, but I prefer the highly clean look of the SC figure. And let's face it, the ring/wings for the Haslab figure are really distracting with all that waffling. It's waffling done with an eye on detail work as opposed to just a static waffle, but it's still highly distracting.
Haslabs main strike against it IMHO is the shell-forming kibble. For all that cheddar for the price, the engineers couldn't find ways to minimize the planet-shell kibble, while a third-party entity without a fraction of the resources made a more animation model accurate toy, and for half the price. If I ever got a Haslab Unicron I'd keep it in planet mode as the scale, as well as the fact it has the better implemented 'planet eater mouth'. While Cell is the better robot mode Unicron, and would be displayed in his robotic glory.
99.999% of people seem to despise the HasLab "kibble." Personally I don't mind, and actually find it neat in its own way. I like chaos. He is the chaos bringer. Never been one for the "clean" look thing, even if in this case, anime accurate is something to seek after (and we all know ho Hasbro seems ofdly incapable of that selectively) Studio wins me over hard af though because of the engineering ❤ It's everything I want in a transformer 😍😍😍 Need them to show Hasbro how Atmada Optimus is done. Need a proper trailer > base > supermode legs with the proper artwork knee bend mechanism.
Funny story: 01 Studio Cell was formerly known as "Zeta Toys CORE STAR" before Hasbro dropped a "Cease and Desist". And because of that unfair heal, the Haslabs Unicron is a panel-lined chug, with a backpack so prominent and heavy that needs its stand the whole time.🤬
The hips to the sides were very loose on my Haslab, I also had problems with the joints that keep the wings in place, those were way too tight, and then again one of my elbows is too loose. You forgot to mention the eyes (hardly visible though).
Fun fact if you use the scene we’re unicron eats galvatron to determine masterpiece size unicron would be 23m tall as in that scene unicorns head is 8.5 galvatrons tall This is akso a massive low ball as the movie like the cartoon doesn’t keep the models to scale and if taken at face value then the ship would be unable to fit into unicorns eye
I don't give a crap about Unicron, all I can think about is how the Fanstoys Fortress Maximus is twice the size of the Haslab Unicron, and it's actually being released in 2022. Genuinely looking forward to seeing TMReviews attempt to get him into frame for a review. 😂
Awesome Comparo/review per usual...Here's another That I would Not buy any AS IS. There only needs to be 1 change and I'm sold, Sold on Studio Cell...When Studio Cell is Upsized to HLU size or bigger, IT will be Mine. For HLU, I would had Preferred it more if They had a Super Accurate/Articulate Action Figure and a Separate Planet Mode with Lights and Gimmicks Galore...That then will be mine too.
The cell unicron figure absolutely looks so much better then the haslab figure I really hate all those spikes on the haslab unicron but when its in planet mode its absolutely beautiful it may even bring a tear to your eye but if the cell unicron figure was bigger then the haslab I most definitely go with the cell version and to me the cell version looks just like he does he the 86 movie I'm hoping to be able to buy a cell unicron figure next year at tax season i need one to display with everything else.
I think the size comparison is the deal breaker. Although the Studio Cell is more superior to the freakin' Armada Unicron. Then again, on all Unicron figures, it breaks down with the basic fundamental fact, "What's in your wallet"?
01 Studio Cell made the better toy. It just lacks in size. I think Lewin should oversize the 01 Studio Cell to the size of their MP10 oversized. Lewin is probably the only KO company that could do it. I'd pay 800 max for that. Hasbro would sh#t their pants if that happens.
I never got the chance to jump on the Haslab Unicron, otherwise, I think I might have, simply for it's presence, but since I don't collect masterpiece scale figs, I think Studio cell (especially with it's more 'toon accurate' appearance) will do it's job with my "chug" scaled collection. Are you still looking for a potential buyer for the 01 Studio Cell?
can you imagine if they released Cell, at Haslab's scale, with a nice stand like Haslab, and with the upgraded ring set? OMG, THAT would own ALL!! The new version of Cell, Pumkin is only freaking $299! For a mega Pumpkin or Cell, O! could easily charge $700 or $750 all day, and Cell out in minutes. See what I did there? lol. But I completely get why you're keeping Unicron, I would in your position as well, but I VASTLY prefer Cell over Haslab. That freakin kibble, or pancakes as you called it "LOVE that!!" is an entire IHOP and Waffle House love child McDonald's sized chain! Whereas you'll die of hunger trying to live off of pancakes or waffles on Cell lol. He's the end all be all best there is, and possibly ever will be for Unicron, until of course some 4th party names Megoohappystufz or Amazongpodac or some random chain of numbers for a name, comes out with a KO upscaled version. Now, he'll have to be HUGE, or even YUGE to tower over the new big guy on the block, or rather on his way to the block. A freaking 10 inch tall MP head to a Titan? Yeah, I'm gonna have to say that Unicron will need to be a good 12 foot tall to tower over FT's FortMax when he's among us.
If someone make an oversized studio cell, then let’s do this compare again, I think the oversized cell will win for sure. Has lab’s main advantage is the size tbh
WFC Unicron is the worst shellformer I have ever seen. It is so bad you can actually remove the robot from the shell and have the planet AND robot on it's own. Not worth the exorbitant cost. Cell would be perfect if it matched the same size as Haslab.
I would keep both y already spend the fake money so why go through the headache and beside y already spend the fake money they say y only live once on fake earth
I don't agree about the "toon accuracy" score. There is no pretense, WFC Unicron is not even trying to be 86' movie Unicron. You might as well try compairing the Armada Unicron tothe 86' movie. They are not even the same continuity. The metric for the "toon accuracy" comparison is biased. If you were to use the actual WFC toon as the metric, the score would be reversed. That said, Cell's wings and all the spikes are 100% all wrong. At best, Cell gets the silhouette right but fails at everything else especially the asymmetric circle/crater details of the 86' movie design. And that alt mode is way off base. The accuracy score at best should be should either be tied or zeroed. If you compair either of them to what they are trying to be, WFC Unicron is nearly 100% accurate and Cell Unicron is at best 50% just a shadow silhouette. I don't agree with the "sculpt" score in the slightest. Cell Unicron is bland and boring and does not convey any sense of scale, even what was shown in the 86' movie. Even a 35 year old animation showed far more detail and panel lines just on that metric. Cell, is just bland and doesn't even match the details of the film it is trying to replicate. Just no... I don't like all the shell kibble on my WFC Unicron, but it completely blows away the Cell Unicron. Hands down. IMO :) I had Cell... and couldn't resell it fast enough.
thats something ive noticed about this guy, he always compares something to G1 toon, regardless of what the intended goal of the figure was. it can be based on studio ox, g1 toy, idw or whatever, and the only thing he considers is g1 toon. if he was being fair, he wouldnt have that as a comparing point when figures are both trying to be different things
@@robertban871 It is what it is, It is his show :). But it is still good to point out other points of view. In this case, it really should to be pointed out that the metric for comparison is very skewed. Some people cannot make up their own minds and hold on to what media personalities say as some kind of religion. Maybe stirring discussion will encourage people to think for themselves... I'll step off my soap box now :P

I don't give a crap about Unicron, all I can think about is how the Fanstoys Fortress Maximus is twice the size of the Haslab Unicron, and it's actually being released in 2022.
Genuinely looking forward to seeing TMReviews attempt to get him into frame for a review. 😂
Lol
Awesome Comparo/review per usual...Here's another That I would Not buy any AS IS. There only needs to be 1 change and I'm sold, Sold on Studio Cell...When Studio Cell is Upsized to HLU size or bigger, IT will be Mine. For HLU, I would had Preferred it more if They had a Super Accurate/Articulate Action Figure and a Separate Planet Mode with Lights and Gimmicks Galore...That then will be mine too.
I might buy that oversize cell if it ever comes to be, but Hasbro will probably try to kill it in the US
The cell unicron figure absolutely looks so much better then the haslab figure I really hate all those spikes on the haslab unicron but when its in planet mode its absolutely beautiful it may even bring a tear to your eye but if the cell unicron figure was bigger then the haslab I most definitely go with the cell version and to me the cell version looks just like he does he the 86 movie I'm hoping to be able to buy a cell unicron figure next year at tax season i need one to display with everything else.
I love both!
That Haslab Unicron is such a glorified shell-forming overpriced piece of plastic!
I hope haslab does one of primus too
I think the size comparison is the deal breaker. Although the Studio Cell is more superior to the freakin' Armada Unicron. Then again, on all Unicron figures, it breaks down with the basic fundamental fact, "What's in your wallet"?
Hey Sony, did you already sell the Studio Cell version to someone? I'm looking for one since $1,500 for the hasbro is never going to happen.
I may have a buyer already, if not it will go up on FB groups for sale
The hasbro one needs medical support to even stand up
01 Studio Cell made the better toy.
I think I have a buyer or three, thanks
Haslab Unicron for the win just for the size
I will never understand the wrong color maw. Pretty obvious they screwed up there.
can you imagine if they released Cell, at Haslab's scale, with a nice stand like Haslab, and with the upgraded ring set?
I'd buy an oversized studio cell
waiting for a oversized 01 studio cell.
Be waiting a long time
How much are you selling unicorn for ?
Maybe sold already
Are you selling anything else ?
Yup. Check my eBay for listings, hit me on Facebook if interested
Cell loses me completely at planet mode. I think he looks so overly flat
Cell also has upper torso swivel
been wanting a studio cell shade for a while , if you still have it ill take it lol
It sold
why did you sell it keep it
If someone make an oversized studio cell, then let’s do this compare again, I think the oversized cell will win for sure. Has lab’s main advantage is the size tbh
I didn't factor in size for this comparison
I never Realize the size difference
Studio Cell is far superior! NO KIBBLE!!
You sound like Felix the cat from twisted tales.
There isn’t no doubt haslab unicron is the best! ♥️
Glorious
Part-formers or transformers? Sorry but I think HL is a big garbage cyvertronian stylised, not a MP. If you can put it on a shelf congrats
I'll take cell
WFC Unicron is the worst shellformer I have ever seen. It is so bad you can actually remove the robot from the shell and have the planet AND robot on it's own. Not worth the exorbitant cost. Cell would be perfect if it matched the same size as Haslab.
I would buy an oversized cell lol
Is fanstoys fort max out of the question then? Because of....scale? Lol
Ft fort max won't be in scale. But it will be the biggest ever made
@@TMReviews can't wait!!
I would keep both y already spend the fake money so why go through the headache and beside y already spend the fake money they say y only live once on fake earth
Mejor 01 studios
I hear that, but just to be a brat here, my show and my rules lol. Thanks for watching
@@TMReviews It's all good :) just voicing an opinion. Fantastic review BTW. Should have opened with that in my first post :)
