  • Getting rid of weeds can be a challenge in organic gardening. Tis way of killing weeds with the flame torch is not only easy but very satisfying as well. You can hookup the flame weeder to the propane tank and burn the weeds. If you ever wondered how to kill weeds organically, or how to get rid of weeds naturally, or how to make a homemade weed killer, this way of killing weed will work for you. It works the same way frost kills the plants, by breaking the cell walls of the plants. You can use the flame torch on driveway, gravel, and in between the rows of your garden. Be careful not to use the flame weeder near dry brush or start any kind of fire.

For weeds on my hardscaped patio, I use cleaning vinegar. It sterilizes the soil without any evil side effects as we have with Roundup etc.. in my garden I let most weeds grow so long as they aren’t an invasive variety or shading the crop plant. Weeds are “living roots in the soil” and that promotes more life in the soil food web. I also don’t till my gardens.. not for the last thirteen years! Weeds actually are an indicator of soil condition. Acre Publishing have an excellent book title When Weeds Talk, by Jay L. McCaman.

doesn't kill them off, the roots stay intact. That's why some grass/hay farmers burn down the dry plant matter above ground so fresh new growth comes back. Besides, in many places here in the US you need a fire permit, in case you're thinking you can use this for brush hogging....LOL...."engine 3, engine 5, tanker 1, Ambulance 1 to 66 Dummy Ave for a backyard brushfire, PD is in route" -- former firefighter here

yep. VFF here, back in the day. here in rural Georgia, USA, farmers LOVE to burn off their fields, run a fire break around it, then go off to lunch or supper. fire is gonna jump the break, especially in a good wind. Fun times are had by ALL!!

It does not kill the roots, you have to use it every 2 weeks when weeds keep emerging and the energy stored in rots will get exhausted and will kill the weeds so they don't grow again. Consistency is the key.

I could definitely see using something like that for driveways. But a little known fact in organic gardening is weeds can tell a story about the soil and often provide nutrients. Many weeds are edible (dandelion) so you could save on your grocery bill without the work of planting and cultivating!! 😃

There's a huge gap between the flames. Point them inward, move them closer together or add a third torch in between. Can't you just use a splitter and one tank for this instead of two tanks?
