An easy band to fall in love with!!! Good to see you drumming to the mighty Sabbath! Are you going to do the second half of the song next Sat I guess? Lol!!
Literally the first six albums barely have misses on them. I enjoyed seeing the Sabbath reactions and this so much. Even on the last two records with Ozzy Bill Sings on two of the songs and has a great voice. Looked forward to more covers.
Tony Iommi mentioned in his book that this was probably the only song that all the drummers after Bill Ward had a difficult time playing in rehearsals. Not that they were playing it "wrong" necessarily, it was more that they all had a different feel that kind of threw off Iommi since he was so used to the variations in which Ward would play.
I can’t read drum music but the first Black Sabbath album was how I taught myself how to play at the age of five, I’m 61 now. I’ve been playing it wrong for 56 years! You played it perfect and made it look easy.
Too kind Marc. I had a look at Bill Ward playing this live and noticed most of the tom hits were two handed if that helps. Other than that it's probably pretty close. Hope my cover helps ya out!
@@jonathanlundeen8954 your right! I didn’t do the math, so I guess I was 9 years old when learning how to play songs from the first Sabbath album. Sorry, I should have put more thought into it.
Andrew, I can tell by your facial expressions that you can't help but like it! I was getting excited for the heavy swing part and the video cut just before the faster part. I concour, you're a metal drummer now. You had it in your blood the whole time. 👍👍
Rat Salad, Andrew, Rat Salad. 👍 Back in the day when Sabbath was playing large amounts of sets in one night, Bill Ward got in the habit of playing long drum solo's to fill some of the time. Eventually Bill started filling one whole 45 minute set with a drum solo. Those sets eventually became the track Rat Salad.
Horns up at the start, too! Great job, Andrew, even with the prolonged stank face, hahaha. Knew it was only a matter of time before you'd have to play some Sabbath.
nice job. i have always prefered the drums on the the original album version to how the drums were developed for later live sets. i feel the continuous floor tom and tom work fits the mood way better than the drums stopping and just playing the same fill throughout the verses. maybe they felt that changing it to the stopping with just the fills way was more moody but i find the original drum track far more foreboding. well done.
Really great Andrew . Love the groove . Are you going to do the other half? Sorry that's very presumptuos of me , like it'll take 5 mins to get down . It probably took me weeks to learn it well enough to pass muster. Peace and love brother ✌️ and thanks again 🙏 ❤️

Hey Andrew..one for your “female drummers” list - check out Tamu Murata of Nemophila. She’s a beast! Nemophila have done a few covers, as well as original music, and are rising fast. Cheers!
Curious... When you do a cover on an older song like this, do you just play along with the original drums in the track? Or is it possible to find a drum-less version somewhere?
Hey Andrew, awesome performance, that was really cool, so let me ask you something, would you be interested in an international Collab playing a Sabbath song??

This was scheduled to be out next sat. But I couldn't wait.
In love with this band

THE best band in history, IMHO. 😉

Funny enough to see that you and I missed this band for half of a century and now can't get along without our daily dose !
YES! HAHAHA
How is that possible. Too much Bieber?

Yes Abraham!
I'm reading it to get it note for note.
Be VERY difficult to try and remember all of this. Ward changes the pattern constantly

The first title I listened to from Black Sabbath. Was hooked after just a few bars. Totally amazing. Great cover.
THANK YOU!
I swear there's a real ROCK DRUMMER inside of you Sir Andrew. Your stank face throughout was legendary....more more more 😎
Lot some LZ planned for my next recording session :)
THANK YOU
I used to get too excited and start playing this too fast as a kid along with record.
Yeah it's REEEEEEAL slow
Total Sean Kinney AIC vibe on this
Love when you play the real kit, and it looks like you're having fun. Great stuff.

brilliant....personally , I have problems with really slow songs.the temptation for speeding up is so hard to resist.
For sure. Slow is hard

To each his own, when I hit the left side crash I use my left hand and use my right for the snare.
I guess I switch open handed depending on when I know if it’s less arm/shoulder for my right when I know it needs to go back right. 🤷♂️
Yes that's def a good option Rob

NOT TO BAD ANDY. BUT A LED ZEPPELIN SHIRT WHILE PLAYING A BLACK SABBATH SONG 🎵 THAT'S A NO NO 🤣🥁
Hey Bill! I didn't even think about it!
I actually drove around town the other weekend looking for a Sabbath shirt though HAHA
Intentional to wear a Led Zeppelin tee-shirt for this cover ?
No! I was just wearing it that day for teaching and stayed behind to try and record a few songs :)
That's just as well eh?
John Bonham and Tony Iommi were best mates. John was the best man at Tony's first wedding.
Siberiano could play this without drumsticks..and drums
Without even being there
