  • Choppies is Botswana's largest supermarket chain with a 35% share of the total retail market. It recently decided to list on the Bostwana Stock Exchange where its Initial Public Offering (IPO) raised P350 million. The retailer says it will use these to funds to develop its expansion in South Africa. It also plans to set up shop in Mozambique and Zambia in the next year. ABN's Bronwyn Seaborne met with key decision makers from Choppies to discuss what makes the brand so successful.

    It is time that Namibia get such competition since Spar, OK, Shoprite and Pick n Pay are killing us with regard to daily consumer goods, e.g. UHT milk from Hoppies is N$7.99 and here in Namibia it is NOT LESS THEN N$15.00, AND MOST OF THE TIME IT IS N$17.00
