Also, Quinn gave birth simultaneously with Jonathan Groff, single-handedly singing bohemian rhapsody is actually truly one of the best moments in TV history
I don't believe for a second that Finn told Mercedes of all people that he sang I'll stand by you to a sonogram. Also the most controversial and exploitative episode was Shooting Star.
Quarterback was DEFINITELY not Glee’s most controversial episode, especially at the time. People had far stronger reactions to Blame It On The Alcohol and The End Of Twerk both when they aired and in retrospect - I genuinely don’t know how else the show could’ve honored Finn & Corey in a satisfying way, this take is just not it at all.
So after he died Ryan Murphy revealed the the end of the show was going to be Rachel coming back from New York after winning Broadway awards, Finn was going to be the Glee teacher and they were going to hook up. So it's basically what she said what she wanted to happen in her little monologue before her song, that was her telling us what the ending of Glee was supposed to be
I agree that they should've just done a short tribute in the episode - the fact that they dragged it on for the whole ep def feels (and felt at the time) exploitative
To me it was always weird to not give a reason for his death as a character. It feels like since they didnt mention a reason it focuses more on the real life reason of how he died. Idk for me it feels like it draws more attention to not give a reason which dosnt help with the episode feeling exploitative. Clearly they dont want to say the real reason on tv which i understand because drugs is a serious and tragic way for someone to pass away but when this happens for tv shows they write the character off in a sweet way or they passed away as a hero like how riverdale expressed how archies dad passed away as a hero because the real life actor passed away. Thats a beautiful way to memorialize them as a hero in the show. For geel it just feels weird to not have an in universe reason and makes it even weirder that they made the episode at all. If theres no explanation why even bother with a "tribute" episode because it didnt benefit the characters memory or help the cast greve at all it just exploits a new episode plot point so they didnt have to come up with something else to do.
Santana screaming an freaking out was scripted. The scene went as scripted and directed that was confirmed by Kalen who worked for Fox. Also Lea and Cory were not engaged for the record that doesn't diminish the tragedy but facts are still important. Also why is this guy laughing throughout this recap its weird.
This is not the most cosversal episode it's the most heartbreaking watching this live for the first time I only made it Finns mom crying and I couldn't stop crying for the rest of episode

The shooting episode is the most controversial and never needed to be made.
