    I know Hikaru has probably played hundreds of thousands if not more games of chess, but it still amazes me someone can watch a 3 minute video of a game and remember every position. I wish I had that good of a memory.

      Yeah you're spot-on. He has said ons stream that he played 100s of 1000s of blitz games, I'd guess about 500k. That's a couple million moves.

    In case someone wonder who's the winner : It's a draw
    reason : - neither player has enough material remaining to checkmate the other (how can u checkmate world player with just queen lol).
    Or - Repetition (at the end the kid did that, and looked magnus in the eye).
    Both agree to draw in a way that most of us didn't notice .

      It is kinda like dancers. They can remember choreography from watching once. While chess is a tad bit easier to re create once you master the game..
      Cause he can assume the players he is recreating only made one of the "best moves." It takes out variables

      @@claudeyaz that’s a good analogy. When someone is incredibly good at what they do they can copy others from just watching what they did. For example a skilled guitar player can listen or watch someone play a riff or a song etc they’ve never heard before and then be able to roughly play it themselves to some degree. Someone who races cars for a living can watch someone do the route of a new race track and memorise it completely. I guess the level of difficulty can increase and decrease but the fundamentals stay the same for most things.

      @@torinnayak8564 no many agree bobby was the best to play. Yes kasporov was able to build a better knowledge of the game over time and knew more than bobby ever would about the game. But he also played far longer and was able to live in a time where the study of the game was far easier. Bobby did so much in so little and destroyed the game with ease.

      Magnus dropped the pawn on accident, giving away his pawn lead and allowing black to centralize his piece in between Magnus's, which gives black some chance to either draw or push for a win. In this case, the kid went for a draw against Magnus, which basically pissed him off because Magnus could have won if he didn't just carelessly drop his pawn.

    Guys, he can "memorize the game" because he's seeing it in big interconnected pieces and not as a series of stand-alone moves. It's like when a really musician can play along the first time he hears a chord progression. They know the shape of a song and that fills in a lot of details. Hes seen (probably) millions of games. He knows the shapes of the game.

      A musician can't play along the first time hearing a chord progression in that sense, unless they are just improvising over the chords as they hear and indentify them. What you mean is they can easily improvise over or play a known, common progression like a vi-ii-V-I in any key

That subtley bears many fruit, extensions for example can completely change the sound of your improvisation, choosing them is based very much so on the chords where the same one can come from different keys and have alterations that suggest different sounds
