I know Tyrion was played as a hero in the show, as opposed to how he sort of eventually loses his heart in the books, but when Tyrion says to Sansa, ‘And so my watch begins,’ after she told him that she may never bed him, I teared up a bit. In that moment, he stood 10 feet tall.

@@danischannela Night's Watch reference. He is on the wall of being her husband, and never bedding her. It was what she wanted and not himself. It was for the good of the realm.

Sansa was starting to undress, he then asked her to stop, as he couldn't sleep with her because he knew it wasn't right to force himself on her. He could (on his father's insistence), but he wouldn't consummate the marriage, not unless she wanted to. She asked, what if she may never want to? That's when Tyrion says the "watch begins" line. It's a line said in jest that connects to the nights watch oath of keeping watch over all the troubles on the other side of the wall. But he's basically saying that he promises not to force himself on her, and aims to watch over her i.e. stand guard.

There were a few times that it was done earlier, but most of the time tlit was scandalous and the girl died in birth or in Sansa's Aunt case had multiple miscarriages due to their body not being ready.

He was never actually openly antagonistic towards Tywin. Tyrion depended on Tywin for money and status, and really only wanted to be accepted. I don’t think he ever did anything to piss his dad off specifically.

The racist one is basically casting white actors in roles that are meant to be of non-white peoples. The non-racist one is what you get when you purposefully gloss over or avoid problematic or negative traits of a character in a different portrayel. In this case, Tyrion in the books is objectively ugly, much cruder and selfish. In the show, Tyrion is far more handsome, is NOT disfigured in the same way (he has a scar rather than completely missing his nose), is far more selfless and charismatic. In both the books and the show, Tyrion is hurt by what Sansa saus and isn't surprised by it but how they react is entirely different.

I love how author's souls spill over onto pages. They might all say that nothing relates to themselves or anyone specific, but we're human and we draw from what we know. Even if it's embellished, there's a grain of truth in every lie. And someone experienced some vicious rejection, abuse &/or self loathing to write like that.

Every time he took off his clothes to go to bed he said he could see the revulsion in his eyes and it made him so uncomfortable he started wearing bed clothes which he never usually did. The way Sansa treated him was not nice . He was always kind to her and treated her well. I understand why she did it but at the end of the day the position she was in was her own fault. If she hadn’t ran to Cersei and told her of her fathers plans she and Arya may have reached Winterfell unharmed.

No that’s not what’s being said. No one said anything like that at all. What’s being said is she could have not been so judgemental. No ones saying she should have let him have his way with her. She knew he was as scared as she was as she actually says that to her self but she didn’t care about his feelings only her own. And how she looked at him made him feel uncomfortable. Worse than uncomfortable. She made him feel terrible. He went out his way to treat her as a human being but she didn’t have the courtesy to do the same. Well she did have the courtesy’s she just decided to not use it.
Plus she went against her whole family just because she was desperate to marry her precious prince Joffrey and become queen. She was acting very self entitled. “Why did this happen to me? I don’t deserve it!” Well it happened because she was selfish and wanted to be queen so bad she betrayed her father. Because of her selfishness her father had to play along and admit he was a traitor snd that joffrey was the true king. If he didn’t have to do that he may have lived longer. Long enough for Tyrion to get to kings landing and stop the execution from happening and traded ned for jaime. It could be argued if she hadn’t ran to cersei ned may have survived.
Call me cruel or heartless, but I never felt anything but disdain for early Sansa. She was a stupid and entitled little girl with dreams of granduer. And when those dreams came crashing down, she wept and called the world unfair. Life ain't fair. It's a cruel mistress that will show mercy to no one no matter how much you pray for it.
Now I don't blame her for her upbringing. That's entirely the fault of her mother and father, who raised her that way. The only Stark I ever truly liked was Benjen. To be honest, I like what the show did with Tyrion in making him into more of a hero. As much as we all love it, the books are very, very grim. It’s almost a little too much at times.

@ModernGamesSuck That’s not “the way it was back then.” Child/adult marriages were extremely rare in medieval times, and CONSUMMATING them was rarer still. Especially for a child as young as 12. I hate when people who know absolutely nothing about history try to use it to defend violence against children. Do you think they only lived to 30 back then, too?

Historically child marriages were very common. Depends on the place and time frame. Most of it was done by mobility for the sake of alliances and such.

For sure but even so if Tyrion was the Prince Charming Sir Jaime Lannister she would be much happier with the situation. Tyrion early on was a good guy highly sympathetic and kind. If humanity as a species wasn’t solely focus on the superficial than many man wouldn’t be alone, but they are even if they’re better man than others simply because they’re ugly to be blunt.
