    In 2010 my son and I (on his 8th birthday) flew from Phoenix to Portland and then drove to Astoria for the 25th Anniversary Reunion Event. We stayed in a tent at Fort Stevens State Park and attended the events during the daytime, including the Walsh house. A truly remarkable experience. So glad we went!

    I'm British and I met Sandy years ago when visiting the house, while staying in Portland. She was a very friendly and welcoming lady, but I can see why over the years she's had her patience tested. Does anyone know if she is still the current owner?
    Seeing some of the locations of my absolute favourite childhood movie (along with The Lost Boys and Home Alone!) was an honor, and an experience I'll never forget. One thing that did surprise me was the Astoria-Megler Bridge! I think you're on it for else than 10 minutes from what I remember, but it seemed to take forever to cross! Astroia is a magical place and people who live there are extremely lucky!

    I understand that the lady who owns the house and her neighbours want privacy, but that kind of attention would clearly come from the house so I'm not sure what she or he neighbours were expecting. It's like buying a flat next to a live music venue then complaining about the noise.

      well it's like what the fk do u expect when buying one of the most KNOWN ICONIC HOMES IN CINEMA FKIN HISTORY??? You knew what you were getting yourself into when u bought that home. Obviously you thought it was cute for a few months and clearly you wanted the attention. Now that it's more over bearing than u thought you want to pull ur hair out bc ur tired of it all of a sudden??? fk out of here. sell it to a real fan who would make it a day job to give tours of their home for a 3 dollar donations and half proceeds go to childrens hospital the other half goes to maintaince of the property. Or if not that then at least humor the fans. These pricks dnt deserve living there...I watched goonies everyday as a kid and still could talk about it on a daily a true fan needs to live there.

    I always said that the Goonies had one of the greatest opening scenes of any movie. It comes out of the gate swinging with a barrage of action; a prison break with a gasoline fire, a police chase with guns and a beachside car race. And, as if that weren't enough, it manages to incorporate the police chase into the introduction of EVERY SINGLE ONE of the Goonies in their own humorous scene except the Walsh brothers. And it manages to do all of this in just 5 minutes.

    Who the hell buys such an iconic house and acts like the don't care about its legacy? Also, how on earth didn't that house cost her millions? Seriously, that neighbourhood should be bought by someone like Troy's father and turned into a Goonies theme park/museum.

    • @blacsdad
      @blacsdad 4 роки тому

      I think what most of you are missing is that this is in a residential neighborhood where real families live. The house is not on a through street. You can't just drive past it and gawk at it. It's up on a hill on a private driveway along with a couple other houses within a larger residential neighborhood which forces fans to park a distance away and walk up to where it is- which is very intrusive to the families living there.
      In a perfect world, someone would build a replica of the house somewhere else in the commercial section of town and use it as a tourist destination. The problem with this is that not enough "Goonies" tourists come to Astoria to support such a thing.

    Ha! You need someone who was born in the 80's to buy the house from her so that 1. she can live a quiet life somewhere else in Astoria and 2. the new owner would understand what The Goonies means to people and find a way to control the tourists. I don't know what the heck the lady is complaining about. I would quit my job and she said a thousand people a day want to see the house. Charge 100 bucks each to let them go in and walk through for 5 minutes. Do the math that would be 100,000 grand a day. You would make a million bucks every 10 days. That house is so valuable id pay 10 million for it because I know I could tipple that money in one year. Some folks dont think straight. You could even charge 50 extra to let the really Big fans go up into the attics where they found the treasure map. Im not kidding when I say Id pay that lady 500 bucks just to let me walk around in there for 5 minutes including the attick. Can you imagine how awesome it would be to actually be up there.

      When I visited for the 30th Anniversary, she let us go up into the attic, but the attic scene was actually filmed on a set because of the extreme difficulty of hauling equipment and crew up into the real attic.

    ~ I used to live in Astoria, I’d hoped to see a lot more of the town. It’s a nice little place, longest bridge over to state park in Chinook, Washington, over the Columbia river, seriously big, deep river. Perhaps Kindergarden Cop will show more of the charm. But I guess blubber bodies were more important.
