Using a rubber hose on the compression tester I was getting 80 psi on all 4 cylinders . I changed the rubber hose to a metal pipe supplied with the tester and the reading went up to 125 psi . Stripped the carbs and used an ultra sonic bath to clean all of the parts . The bike has the famous Radian rattle but runs very well .
Nice work with limited parts! Never rebuilt a motorcycle engine and was actually surprised the cylinder heads had chamfers to get the ring inside without a clamp device. Nice work. I sold my Yamaha Venture so I wouldn't have to mess with the carbs anymore and bought a 2002 Gold Wing GL1800 with fuel injection...
I have a radian. I bought it with fairly low miles (5500) and put 6500 miles with zero issues. Not to mention it’s been my favourite bike out of the 6 others I’ve had, one being out of the box new. If you can get it squared away, you’ll never regret it.
Taylor Travels fan here!! I've got a Yamaha TW200 which I bought a couple of years back as part of my earthquake/survival/apocalypse kit!! San Francisco Bay Area 🖖
Some person called Taylor sent me here as a biker too. Possible piston rings also timing. I think you need to contact Yamaha they will find away to send you everything plus as gaskets you can by self making kits. Watch for TDC as could cause valves hit cylinders. Timing is everything when fixing a bike. Rings can be made up but I think ask Yamaha first. Some times cylinder compression can fool you. As main bearings and camshaft could also need attention.
Oh no should not clean out valve areas like that you will have to make sure no metal particles are inside the valve seats and not will have to re seat all the valves as your compression will not be correct. OK quick tip with inside tank use a fuel degreacer cap on turn up side down and shake it a lot empty it out then use white spirit do same thing empty it out. Then some fuel shake it a lot up side down and empty it. Should clean tank our of anything inside it. Renew all fuel system and pipes. Clean out the carbs replace burnt out parts oil in pots depending on type of carb it should be ready to run.
Awesome video!❤

100 mph holy shit 😮
Wondering why you didn't check valve clearance before removing head.
