I really like this one. It reminds me of the discussions between Matt and Father Lantom in the show Daredevil. The discussions of "Evil". One discussion is of Father Lantom telling a story about his experience with seeing true evil and the other was Matt asking Father Lantom did he go to see Wilson Fisk to find a reason to kill him, or a reason not to. As a hardcore skeptic, I find this beautiful. Some people just have no reason to be skeptic. That's not their calling. Everyone wants and NEEDS a purpose, and most people find that in superstitions. Religions, philosophies, pseudo-sciences. They all can be harmful, yes. But they can also keep people going. Keep people kind. They can, definitely, send people back into the light.

The “what if” is the question, but only if you ask both ways. If god exists then all of what we do is of it’s will, and rewards await after life. But, if god doesn’t exist then how to justify the time and money spent in falsehood. Even if the lie of religion gives happiness, it will only be an illusion. That is why many need proof. Because, proof equals fact, and facts are real. Without spending time on something that cannot be proven or unproven, and gathering knowledge toward actual science, we can improve reality for everything.

yet, there is more proof of GOD than anything else.
I would argue that it's not so simple as something like proof that people need to be happy. True, in the event of there being no God then religion is built on a falsehood. But not all of it. There is a power, I believe, in our world that wants goodness for others and ourselves. I think that we humans want that goodness and desire it with all our hearts. We want it so bad that we seek after it and try and understand it and call it names like God or Nirvana or the Dao or the universe or any number of a lot of different names. I think that people want proof because they want assurity that good does exist and that it exists in the way they think it does, but I believe that we will never know the fullness of good in this world. Good is something to strive for but never quite reach. It's more attainable than perfection but hard to maintain.
It seems more right to say that good is real and God is our way of seeing good, regardless of whether God exists or not. Good, I think, is the real power behind our world and our dreams. It's just a matter of how often we connect to Good and how often we strive to keep doing Good.
Sure, maybe Good isn't God and there is no afterlife, but I think Good cares for more than just where we're going after this world.

I don't believe in God, and I think people don't believe in God cause he exist rather than God exists cause people believe in him. I think even if he isn't up there the power his aura is giving the people who believe in him is as strong if he exists or if he does not exists cause it doesn't matter anyway. Cause the strength that people draw out of it is inevitable strong. It doesn't matter cause as long as those people believe in him they can overcome their hatred, they can withstand their pain, they can overcome all obstacles in their life.....and so they can be guided back in to the light.
And that's what I believe in.

@@mr.badwolf7356 sry Just saw it after months. I wouldnt say faith or Something Higher. I guess If you believe god exists and that alone can give you enouth motivation to do something it clearly effects your life and your beeing and if it effects you it exists, at least in your mind. And because of that if someone says to me he believes in god, i say he exists. If you say you dont believe, i say he does not exist . But maybe you are right, i just dont believe so. Thats my opinion in it.😊
@celvinp5918 well, see that's why I focused on the concept of Faith rather than God in my comment is because I think that Faith is a very human concept that often goes overlooked because of it's connection to religion.
The basic concept of Faith is trusting something that isn't certain or having enough trust in something that you act on it anyways.
So when you comment about how people overcome their problems by belief in a higher power, I hear you basically saying "Faith makes people strong because it entices them to act strong, regardless of whether that faith is proven true (i.e. existence of God)."
