kirk was inspired a great deal by Carnivore Pete Steele's original band before Type negative . Carnivore were more of a Hardcore/thrash crossover band with some slow sludgy riffs in some of their songs. Kirk is also a Type O fan , in fact he has their logo tattooed on his body lol that being said I dont hear much Type O here , although the more melodic guitar part in this song has a vibe similar to some of the more melodic parts in a few Carnivore songs but but Pete Steele was songwriter in both bands . I just associate Type O with the Goth inspired vibe and the melodic and at times psychedelic keyboards. One thing can be said and thats all of these bands share one thing and thats a love for Black Sabbath. Also if you want to check out more bands that influenced Crowbar , i would suggest Saint Vitus, Trouble , the Obsessed and also Kirk and Jimmy Bower were big Melvins fans when they formed the Slugs which turned into Crowbar
took a few listens to this album but as a whole is a damn good album compared to Symentry in black which had a few good songs and sub par fillers. May not be the most epic songs ever on this album but as an entire listening experience this album crushes!

Its pretty good.
That being said -I honestly feel that since Buckley joined the band in 2010 , the entire standard of this band went down.
Hes a good drummer, dont get me wrong - but the impact is not as strong as previous releases pre 2010
Buckley is a great drummer,but nunnenmacher's drumming was what made the crowbar sound so special for me...I think the production of the albums has got a lot to with it...the drums sound very bass heavy (and reverberated?) and therefore lack the punch of the drums on earlier albums...
MassRapidTransport Yea - But even albums with Bower, Monz or Costanza sounded way more inspired and impactful then this.
Its not just the drums. The songwriting in general is not as inspired as before.
Again - its good. But its not something that I see myself going back to.
I actually find myself not going back to anything since Buckly joined, simply because anything that came before is about 10x better.
Its not specifically him, but its since he joined.
Again - just my opinion.
Still, looking forward to this album.
