What a journey! Amazing in the first episode you were able to fully develop the central character. I felt like at the end I knew (or was) this guy. There must still be a trove of history buried in those forests: documents, photos and weapons, medals and uniforms. And those that never made it home.
Chtělo by to vydat soundtrack. Hudba v celé minisérii, obvzlášť v posledním dílu byla famózní.
A very good reconstruction of events, an amazing story, perfectly reproduced. You empathize with the hero in all episodes until the end of the film, and you want a continuation. Thank you. 💙💛
Sehr gut gemacht.
What a fantastic mini-series, the details were all spot on 👌❤️❤️❤️!!!!! You guys are amazing and deserve a bigger budget !!!!! Well done WAR Productions 👏👏👏👏 !!!!!! You have my at most respect ☺️❤️!!!!! I hope to see part two of your Wiking WW2 video.
thank you for telling the Estonian story of the WWII which I believe most people didn't know about. Tragedy of a nation and lets hope it will never happen again.
What a fantastic series regarding an often neglect chapter in history. A fantastic indictment to both the cruelty, but perhaps more importantly, the courage and fortitude of man.
Great series! My stepfather was Estonian and used to tell me stories of German officers staying at his house when he was little. He always told me how nice they were. He made it to America with his family, and to his dying day, never said anything nice about the Russians. He was a good kind man. Helped spark my love of history.
If he had been a Pole he wouldn’t have thought them very nice. My wife’s uncle was taken to Germany from Poland at age 14 for forced labor. He was eventually murdered in Dachau.😢
WOW! Amazing! Well done and Thank You for a much needed reminder and history lesson. GOD Bless and Heal all who have served and serve now in wars and their families and friends and loved ones. What a sad and tragic time for humanity, as all wars are. ~ Be Safe out there folks ~ Peace & Health to Us All.
Outstanding series. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. They did the best they could to fight for their freedom under the circumstances. As with so many of their Baltic and Slavic countrymen. The post war allied condemnation is extremely hypocritical.
Thank you, very good movie. I can relate to this pretty well, my grandfathers were in legion & grand uncle even in "czech hell" but he wasn't so lucky and spent many years in Gulag.
Thanks for the interesting comment. Did all your ancestors serving in the Legion end up in Russian captivity? Anyway, thank you very much for watching and we will be happy if you recommend our production to other friends in Estonia. :)
@@Jurgen1989ify Nope, my paternal grandfather escaped to the West. All those stories about how they attempted to save their relatives were quite extraordinary. (I have found also letters and so on but this was of course more-less secret history during soviet period. He also worked for the English army. I don't know; he passed away long ago, and I began to wonder if I remembered something incorrectly. But if they hired the Estonian Legion for Nuremberg's war criminals... So, the idea that he worked in English intelligence in Africa/Italy and tried to apprehend Nazi war criminals may indeed be true. He even received a pension from them. He wasn't a military man; during mobilization, he was a student. The war didn't interest him, but he always parked his car meticulously, ready to leave quickly, and so on. Some habits stuck with him for life.
@@Jurgen1989ify And I want to thank you because the experience of 'the Czech hell' was also somehow painful for those who knew about it. We sympathize with the Czechs in Estonia, so this was always a shock for Estonians. Nobody expected anything good from Germans or Russians; essentially, both were seen as enemies. However, all Estonians who had those experiences from there were genuinely shocked. It is hard to explain.
@@MrTartuVaim An interesting story. Do you have these memories written down somewhere? Or photos? 'the Czech hell' is a sensitive topic for us too. We have been interested in Estonians for almost more than 10 years, and people constantly ask us why we do them in Reenacment and how they ended up here in the Czech Republic... so we thought we would try to realize a film project where we would try to explain everything. And also to explain to the Estonians the complex situation on our territory, where these men found themselves. I am very happy for your response and I hope that other people from Estonia like our project as well. I have already visited your country 3 times, and I have a wonderful feeling about both the people and the landscape. Thanks! :)
@@Jurgen1989ify Thank you! Actually, this film seems quite accurate to me already. Of course, the war was even more cruel and, in a sense, sheer madness. The basic rules were to stay calm and vigilant, and NEVER drink. The Estonian movie '1944' depicts something significant as well; it was a brother-against-brother war. I also believe that those stories represent just survival bias. They were simply lucky. If you truly want to understand this, you must experience real war, but most likely, this will result in traumas for individuals or even generations.
Wonderful series. Many Bosnians and Croatians shared similar fate as members of German military. I remember as a child listening to those stories. Some escaped and joined foreign legion and ended up in Vietnam, as the main character. Some survived but were wounded and disabled and persecuted by the communists.
Very interesting piece of WW2 history. Knew someone that was an officer in the Latvian Army and helped defend Finland from the invasion of the Russians in 1939.
Mockrát děkujeme! No lekníny... my jsme nenatáčeli na Laby nedaleko Drážďan, jak by +/- odpovídala cesta Estonce, kterým jsme se nechali inspirovat, ale na Laby u Mělníku.
Most cruelties in WWII were done by different special police-battalions like Sonderkommando SD 10., German Police Battalions in Russia where were many "Pribaltici", Soviet "Detroying Battalions" in Estonia etc. Sinna võeti 1941. aasta juunis vanglaist vabastatud kriminaalkurjategijaid.) Estonian Legion soldiers fought in the front, they didn't made "punishment actions" against civilians. And they were not Nazis. Did you know that instead of saying Nazi-greeting "Heil Hitler!" Estonian soldiers said "Ei ütle!" which sounded very similar but what in Estonian was "I don't say it!". Very Nazi of course.
