    🟠 I think this vid is super useful for people considering buying or learning this app. If you think so too, please smash the like to help get word out, thnx folks! It’s a walkthrough and review of the Motto Akemie plugin by ALM Busy Circuits. This came out for desktop some months ago, and was released as a standalone app and AUv3 plugin for iPad a few days ago, and is based on the highly-regarded Akemie's Taiko Eurorack module. I really like it, sounds amazing, super fun, pretty versatile, but some things about it frustrate me, and I discuss all this in the video. I hope you find it useful both in helping you decide whether this app is right for you, and in learning how the app works. Enjoy, and subscribe and hit the bell if you are interested in music production apps, I cover apps available on iPad, many of which are also available on desktop. 🟣 9th Dec update: Patterns and voice settings can now be copy, pasted and cleared. This was missing in the version I reviewed, I’m glad it has been added.

    🟢 It is tough for me to keep this channel going, as iOS music is a small niche and most vids in this niche get low view counts, hence I earn very little from ad revenue - at the time of writing, it averages at about £3 per 1000 views, and the vast, vast majority of my vids have less than 5000 views. Learning new apps and making vids week after week takes a lot of time and commitment. I can’t keep this going without the support of viewers and devs. There are a few ways you can support me, if you value this channel and want to keep it alive:
    Ways to Support Me
    🟪 1. Joining my Patreon, which has stuff like exclusive vids, preset packs, app giveaways, AUM session files and more. At the time of writing there is a giveaway there for 3 paying supporters to win Mollilooper for desktop or iOS. You can check it out here:
    🟡 www.patreon.com/Gavinski
    🟪 2. Using my Plugin Boutique and repeated links
    The Appstore has not had an affiliate system since 2017, so clicking on AppStore links on my vids gives me no support. But if you are buying desktop plugins, you can use my Plugin Boutique link. Maybe even bookmark it, and use it every time you can, I would REALLY appreciate it! Just go to this link:
    🟡 pluginboutique.com/?a_aid=65c7016dea38b
    I also have links for Loopcloud, Loopmasters, Beatport and DJCity, thanks!:
    loopcloud.com/?a_aid=65c7016dea38b
    loopmasters.com/?a_aid=65c7016dea38b
    www.beatport.com/?a_aid=65c7016dea38b
    www.djcity.com/?a_aid=65c7016dea38b
    Then navigate to the page of the plugin you want to buy. I will get a small commission at no cost to you!
    🟪 3. If buying DMT Cymatics presets, please use my link
    🟡 gumroad.com/a/999143955
    James from DMT Cymatics is very prolific and has made a lot of great preset and sample packs for iOS. If you use the link below when buying, I will get a kickback from your purchases of DMT Cymatics packs. Again, consider bookmarking it! If people use my link, I am incentivized to cover James’s packs, that is a win-win for both James and I, and costs you nothing. Thanks for the support!

    This doesn’t seem ready for iPad without the features for smooth workflow, especially for that price. Great vid Gav, thanks for highlighting

      Cheers. I am still really enjoying this and would recommend it. Copy/paste/clear just got added to AUv3. I hope they find a way to add undo and redo and better control of pitch in the sequencer tho

    Good review. Also glad to see ALM pushing out to iPad with their Akemie creations. I have been a Eurorack fiend for about 7 years; but, I never chose any Akemie modules. I really lean now to iPad and Mac as virtual synths. This is a well thought out and great dive into this app. Thanks.

      Great to see them entering this niche. Let's have more, definitely, hopefully with better ability to dial pitches in accurately!

    Omg I sold my Akemie’s Taiko earlier this year and regret it! I’ve been thinking of buying it again! There first drum module was originally Dinky’s Taiko and then Tyso Taiko which all sound so quirky and full of character! Thanks for this vid. It will hold me over hopefully…😢

    It really does sound great , for all its quirks.

    • @GavinskisTutorials
      @GavinskisTutorials  17 днів тому

      It certainly does, I genuinely adore these kinds of sounds, especially being able to morph them with per step modulations

    the conceptual part is quite promising, but as you mentioned, there some almost fundamental drawbacks heavily weighing against. I also read, that in AUv3, only the first voice is addressable via MIDI. Considering the price they call up, I would take an waiting approach to see, whether some issues get smoothed out.

    • @GavinskisTutorials
      @GavinskisTutorials  17 днів тому +2

      That would be wise. Copy, paste and clear are really essential. I meant to mention the point you raise about midi btw, but forgot. It's very strange that the desktop version is not as limited, there's no technical reason why that should be!

    Good stuff and i really think that the of different length sequences for parameters is actually a deal breaker for me, with something designed for experimental i really want to let things at least phase in and out over time. Draw mode too, just make it fun!

    The difference between standalone desktop and ios apps is that you have the option to route audio into a DAW / host via additional (often free) software. OK - transport sync can be an issue but at least it's possible...

    I may have missed it but what do they mean in the app store discription "Note in AUv3 mode, only the first voice is MIDI addressable."

    • @GavinskisTutorials
      @GavinskisTutorials  13 днів тому

      It just means I can only control voice 1 with midi. So you might need to use multiple instances

    Where's the random patch button? I agree with no UNDO feature and for me I would like more sound randomization. Otherwise great demo and sounds.

    • @GavinskisTutorials
      @GavinskisTutorials  17 днів тому

      Cheers! It has the randomiser for each lane in the sequencer, that’s fine I think, though maybe a global one which also randomised the knobs would be handy too

    • @iwatoHyena
      @iwatoHyena 17 днів тому

      @GavinskisTutorials looks like a unique app, though. I definitely would be interested in the hardware version. I have way too many apps gathering dust as it is.

    • @iwatoHyena
      @iwatoHyena 17 днів тому

      @GavinskisTutorials if it had a randomization knob for each sound and did more advanced midi OUT i would have already purchased it. Maybe down the line

    Good review, Gav. Don’t think this one is for me as I already have RingsFX, but interesting all the same.

    • @GavinskisTutorials
      @GavinskisTutorials  17 днів тому

      Hi Irena! RingsFX doesn't have the sequencer built in with per step modulation that this has, but yes, I'm sure you can get in this territory using combos of various apps you already have!

      If you could dial modulation in in the sequencer with more accuracy, this would be one of my top 5 apps of the year, no doubt. It's still fun, just a bit more limited than what it could be

      @GavinskisTutorials  17 днів тому

      I don't use Drambo. I know it's great but my channel focuses on reviewing different apps, so it doesn't make sense for me to spend much time just going deep on one app that basically does nearly everything, know what I mean? 😅😂
