I totally agree with Heikki's argument grabbing a BS 7 stalefish is a weird feeling. Curiously enough I prefered to grab a switch BS 7 with stalefish because I like regular spins with melon grab. By the way I still got a picture of Heikki taken by my landlord from Salt Lake City when he was working at the finishing line of the halfpipe during the Olympics in Park City.
One of the guys that introduced me to snowboarding. I (as a Swiss) also remember Gian Simmen winning in 1998, but the first time i properly understood what's going on was in 2002 and the total stand out moment was Heikki's run (I would be lying if i said the hair cut didn't play it's role in it). Last year i had the pleasure to bump in to the finnish national team (except of Rene Rinnekangas and Enni Rukajärvi) in a small skatepark next to a lake when they made a stop to go from Zermatt to Austria during summer training. Had a small chat with them and when they told me who they were i was for a moment thinking who i know and the only names that came to mind actually were Eero Ettala and Heikki Sorsa. - That was also a moment when i realised that I am getting old aswell ^^ Also loved the comment of him, that his BS 1080 nowadays would be called a double cork... just confirms what i was discussing with some friends aswell, that the term "cork" i used much more losely nowadays than back then. I remember that we counted something only as a cork if it was completely overhead.
good podcast pick ! So nice to hear Heikki talk about the past ... good memories

I agree too, that trick is weird but Eero did pull it off 🤔 so maybe every trick can look good 😌
