In my most biased, extremely subjective and humble opinion, The Three Little Bops is the best, the funniest and greatest single cartoon ever. I never get tired of watching it and love sharing it with others.
If we narrowed it down to a category, I'd say The Three Little Bop is probably the best musical-cartoon-short-not-made-by-or-associated-with-disney-or-traditional-looney-tunes-characters. They were kind of their own thing made under the Warner Bros name, and only got featured in one Looney Tunes production as guest characters.
@@bufnyfan1 I have never seen One Froggy Night. But I am sure that it is well worth watching. But since I am huge fan of Jazz music then I will have to go with my Three Little Bops.
One of my all-time favorite cartoons Friz Freleng directed. Stan Freberg and Shorty Rogers are no shrinking violets either. Today is Friz's birthday so have a happy one up in Heaven, Friz!
I remember a Sylvester and Tweety cartoon where Sylvester was chasing Tweety and they passed a billboard that said "Drink Friz" which was a tribute to Friz Freleng's direction of the cartoon
My Dad bought comedy records in the 50's and early 60's and had a comedy compilation album with Stan Freberg, Bob and Ray, Alan Sherman, et al., and my sister and I wore it out. Satire and parody seem outdated these days, and I can't imagine any current musicians participating in a humorous effort like this, which was essentially a satire on hipster jazz cats from that era.
Yeah. This is a REALLY rare animated short, in that I can listen to it, without watching it, and it really doesn't lose much. The music and vocals are so great. I mean, the animation is fantastic, too, but even without it this cartoon is absolutely fantastic!
“Well the big bad wolf was really gone, And with him went his corny horn. Went out of this world without a trace, Didn’t go to heaven was the other place!” I love how back in this time period saying “hell” was basically swearing, so they would say “the other place”. I watched a Twilight Zone episode where this crook is shot dead and thinks he is in heaven only to find it was “the other place”. The don’t mention the word “hell” once in the episode. Clearly this was just the day and age, where as now, saying hell is as PG as it gets! lol
my brother in law said listen to the ukulele when he slips on the banana peel this is a classic cartoon its 67 yrs old still sounds good with its jazz rockabilly sound rip to all the guys that played in this great classic cartoon 🐷🐷🐷🥀💐👍❤
Two of my favorite things coming together. And I had no idea Pete Jolly was on these sessions too! Friz Freleng, Stan Freberg, Looney Tunes, Shorty Rogers and the rest of these giants made for a good team!
WB blocks the full cartoon from m being uploaded on UA-cam. My channel is about celebrating the musicians, drummers most specifically, on famous recordings.
I had the most random stupid nightmare about the image at 5:58. I saw this cartoon a LONG time ago and haven't thought about it since. I don't what it is about a wolf rocking out in hell that made for such a scary nightmare but it did.
The old house turned the last option instead of modern houses built in straw or sticks. In order to show that is old, the plate appear 1776!! Old, classic and stronger.
SCARY THOUGHT: When the big bad wolf was playing the Charleston song wearing that fur coat in 1958... 30 years old from their frame of reference. That would be like doing the Macarena today. 🤣
You should have watched the full cartoon, which was uploaded 3 years before this video here: ua-cam.com/video/2FzIMi9ubZA/v-deo.html. All of the musicians are identified onscreen at the end. The baritone sax player is Jimmy Giuffre, and the bass player is Red Mitchell, not Red Callender.

I think 'What's Opera Doc?' will go head to head with it. Oddly enough, from the entirely different end of the spectrum. :)

One Froggy Evening was probably the best. It had a universal appeal. Stephen Speilberg called it the "Citizen Kane" of cartoons.

It has only gotten better with age

I loved this cartoon as a child and as an adult. The music is awesome, IMO.
"I wish my brother George was here."

Best Cartoon ever! Friz Freleng is a super star! Imagine seeing Shorty Rogers and His Giants
play this live! What a time! Thanks!
Nice work fitting in scenes from the cartoon with pictures of the musicians. You out did yourself on this one. I think Freberg would have approved.
One of the reasons I love this era's music, watching Looney Tunes!!!
At least two new generations can point to this cartoon as their inspiration to get into jazz.
I love this music

a jazzed up version of "The three little pigs" #verycreative and #ingeniousidea.
Is there anywhere you can find the original full cartoon. Not cut or anything?
@@anneddy7857 no not that i know of.
@@anneddy7857 sure it's on youtube somewhere.
@@anneddy7857 It's on HBO Max, at least in my country.
Keeley Smith in the audience at 3:02. with an uncredited film appearance.😁
Wow nice catch, with Louis Prima? How did you figure that out?
Never get enough of the three little bops after 30 years I’m still hooked!!!
Have to hand it to Shorty Rogers it takes real skill to play badly but make it sound like it goes along with the tune
Right I was like that’s talent 😂
You nailed it!
I dig the Dew Drop Inn performance the more I hear it.
Just found this cartoon I'm in love it's art and it's inspiring me to make a playlist
I hope I get to perform and do jazz vocals someday like I used to :3
"didn't go to heaven was the other place ".....brilliant
Just love it keep playing man.
No Cartoon was ever more hip

Awesome ! Thanks
I absolutely love this! The video is awesome too! Nice work!
I remember a few other comedy records of Stan Freberg did back when I was a kid. One was Saint George in the Dragon. And there were many others
Christmas Dragnet and Little Blue Riding Hood!
Eff WB for blocking this cartoon. Thanks for adding your music and commentary here!

The big bad wolf he sat right down.. “c’mon cats we’re going to town”
My all time favorite cartoon
I remember this cartoon dang it has been a hot minute since I've seen it
He huffed and puffed and bleet and blewt! LOL
Wao !!! Some of the swinginest riffs I ever heard, Dad!!!
The entire performance is incredible but the music switch at 4:30 remains my favorite part. Charleston, anyone? 😎
I have no idea what it’s called, but I agree, it was my favorite part of the whole cartoon! I wish I knew what it was so I could research the music.

This song makes me think about the song Rock This Town from the Stray Cats.
The bass line is almost an exact match, eh?
@@skydiverclassc2031 Yeah.
Would love to hear this live. And I'm not even a jazz guy.
I thought this would have the cartoon. Not just the soundtrack.

I think I did as well. Now that you mention it. Powerful image
What’s the significance of the brick house being built in “1776”? 🤔 3:36
Because it rhymed with "Sturdy place, this house of bricks......." Warren Foster was good at that. 🙂

Was this all time bopper ever released on record?
