Awesome work terry. I love the new hillside area, the different level retaining wall looks good and will be great painted etc. Kerp up the good work. Jason.
well i have lots of work to keep me going into next year. hopefully i will get a lot more done on the tmd for when you visit my man cave in november....and by man cave i mean my loft......nothing rude honest lol.
Looking great Terry, you've done plenty of work since the last update. That new section is a great addition to the layout and track plan. I love that shot at 12:15, awesome view down the line! Cheers, Dan
I love watching the videos of your layout unfolding you are pretty much the main inspiration for how I am building mine I am so glad you are back building and getting videos up again after your break :)
thanks MrTimmsy1986...what a nice comment....its good people like yourself that keep me going in this hobby and are the reason i share my ventures with the public and also sharing the little knowledge i have with others that are unsure as i know how difficult this hobby can be. there is so much to learn in this hobby and are so many pit falls which can be costly to an already expensive hobby so we all need to stick together and help one another the best we can. terry
Yeah it is but only just started be nice haha I should have the track fully down for the mainlines by the weekend but been practicing scenery from watching you and everard junction
This is looking absolutely stunning mate - love all the attention to detail - particurly the TMD area next to the station, those buffer stops do look superb (may have to get some!). Know what you mean about getting trains running, I spent weeks soldering droppers and clambering under baseboards and it was utterly soul destroying - so much more exciting once the lines were actually operational. Keep up the great work :)
Great update Terry. Really like the idea of two of the main lines splitting off from the other two and then joining back up again. Adds a bit of character to the layout rather than just having all 4 running together. Keep the track up and working is a MUST lol. On my old layout I was always busy cracking on with the scenery but there is always a part of you that just wants to sit there and play trains! Looking forward to seeing more! thanks Jamie
thats why i worked hard on getting two of the lines running coz it felt like all work no play, in fact i sat up there for half hour tonight watching the trains go by and did no work at all.
It has to be done. You always get so much more satisfaction out of watching the trains run round than you do from any wiring or scenery that you have done
Thats a very impressive layout taking shape and have taken some mental notes for future reference. I really like the 'island' tmd area utilising as much space in your loft for whatever plans for the layout. Superb!
thanks mate.im really glad i went down the route of adding the section in the middle as like you say its used up the space i had and this way i get to fit in all that i want to build that i could not add with how it was before.
The areas that are more complete are so well done, it will be exciting to see as you develop more of the new areas. The TMD areas is so excellent. Interesting having part of the loco and other rolling stock emerging from the wall. Good update. Rob
thanks for the comment rob. the areas that are more complete still have a lot more details that need adding before its finished so im glad you think they look good already as hopefully they will look even better when complete.
Hi Terry glad to see the trains running you beat Kev lol some great shots of the trains running like the rake of wagons looks so realistic buffers certainly makes a big difference and that shot of that area looks cool and really like the look of the retaining wall certainly taking shape cheers Kevin
Great update, the detail is fantastic, can see you have spent a lot of time to achieve the look you want. thanks again regards Tim, p.s. like the wind sound affect
Hi Terry just got in from my shed after working on the town scene bit cooler in there today. Anyway put the old lap top on and hey presto your layout update was on great layout update mate like the double track work you've got going on look the biz when all connected with the bridge in place. Liking the retaining wall too looks fab and the idea of a industrial scene well look forward to seeing the progress all in all Terry top job so far. Kev
Hi Terry good progress since your last video, some nice updates, love the class 25 with them trucks, think I need more on the back of mine, cant wait to see your hill side and retaining wall when its finished, Andy
Hi Terry though you had packed in again ?? ...lol ..nice to see you are back and making progress with the layout ..the peco buffers do look very good ..nice running session there
well i had thought about packing it in dave as it felt like i had hit a brick wall mentally but i took some time out to think about the layout and come up with some fresh ideas and now im back...not sure if thats a good thing or not lol.
Well is a bit hot at this time of Year in lofts , but always great to get back in to Model railwaying , can be very flustrating at times , but also can give a lot of pleasure , look forward to seeing your progress ...Dave
Gud update Terry! The plans u hav r really gonna b effective! U hav quite an interesting and different baseboard design now with the centre TMD section! Which is lookin real gud by the way! I also LOVE the rail into the quarry, thats a real nice addition! Gud to c the trians running again :) im gonna check out ur RM web pages now ;)
Got to say this is a brilliant looking layout, the detail is very "life like". One of the best I've seen for a while. Guna keep a very keen eye on this! Is the layout dcc? And to finish it, I know it more expense, but sound from the loco's would finish it off! My hat off to you sir for your modelling skill level too
thank you very much nathan...yes it is running on dcc and i do have a few sound locos but the sound just gets annoying after a while so i dont bother with sound now.
Another great vid Terry. I've been trying to work out what controller you are using, without success. You mentioned chips somewhere so presumably you are into dcc. I noticed a 'Pad' on the desk, so are you into computer control ie Hornby Rail-Master maybe?. Cheers mate. Regards, Brian
thanks jim....no i have not wired the lights up yet but i will be doing it at the same time as fitting the droppers to the track.if i ever get round to it. terry
Nice update ... Can I ask on the two curved lines coming out of the tunnel you have a detection ramp on each one ... Not sure what they are really called but what make are they ?
they are the aws ramps for the signals...at least i think thats what they are called. they are made by peco and you should be able to get them from hattons.
I have from this video and another got some handy tips, so thank you! Is there much difference in wiring a dcc layout to a normal dc? Trying to get my head round it?
well there should be less wiring on a dcc layout and you could really wire it up just using the two plus and neg wires but its best to wire up every piece of cut track rather than depend on the fish plates to carry the current...it involves a lot more work as you need to add droppers but it will ensure constant power to all the track and putting an end to the trains stalling.
thanks mate...yeah its really hot in the loft at the moment aint it. i am just about to fit the security fence you kindly donated to the top of the tunnel between the road and railway line so i just wanted to say a big thanks for the fence and hopefully it will feature in the next update. terry
Hi Terry, You've got a fan...so have I but it just blows the hot air about! lol The walling is going to be great by the way! The scrumpled paper for the hill side, how is it held in place? do you soak it in PVA as you put it on to form the hillside? What length is your layout? Great ideas for the future growth of the layout! Finally, the fuelling point at 12.30 in the video...that a kit? looks great. I ordered 2 of the Bachmann ones you have from ModelShopBelfast....they never arrived. Having real hassle getting my money back, their communication STINKS, never answered a single email of mine. But I have PAYPAL on the case. Wont be buying from there. However I see Bachmann are re-releasing these fuelling points this year, so will snap up some then! Cheers. Dave
Hi Dave The paper is soaked in water with a bit of PVA added in so it stays in place.i have to add the plaster cloth next tho. the length of the layout is 18x10 ft roughly. shame about the issues with that model shop tho mate....my advice is not to bother with the bachmann fuel point as they are very expensive and instead get the one in my video that you were referring to which is from knightwing and looks so much better in my opinion. Terry
Looking good Terry I agree the peco buffers do look more realistic. Have you thought about buying the train tech buffer lights they clip straight to the train and run off the DCC I bought some for mine and if you give them a coat of grey paint they look the biz Keep up the good work Darren
yes i did think of getting them but was not sure about them as other train tech stuff looks cheap but if you say they are good then thats all the encouragement i need mate.im off to take a look now. terry
yes i will be doing it myself but it wont be for a long time yet and i also need to find out how to do it first but as soon as i know i will explain in a video once i have fitted the lights.
Great update all round and very nice to see the trains running again. Looking forward to seeing the bridge and hillside scenery develop. Cheers, Matt.
i am too mate but it may be a long time before it looks as good as i want it to be.
Glebe Road Junction oh my god that made me sick in my mouth!
lol i thought that would make you laugh with your warped humor lol.
It is wonderful that layout when the maquette is ready will be excellent result, congratulations my companions.
Looking great Terry, you've done plenty of work since the last update. That new section is a great addition to the layout and track plan. I love that shot at 12:15, awesome view down the line! Cheers, Dan
thanks dan...yeah lots done and still plenty to do too.
Great again Terry ...glad to see you back,as always every thing looks trick......Regards Geoff.
thanks geoff

I love how my station looks and it was from following your video :)
MrTimmsy1986 is your layout on youtube....if so i will take a look,
Yeah it is but only just started be nice haha I should have the track fully down for the mainlines by the weekend but been practicing scenery from watching you and everard junction

Looks brilliant .. love the low level shots,,, and your trees on the embankment look outstanding,,,, I wish I could have gone with Double O,,,,
thanks alan.
Great stuff once again Terry. Good to see some trains running again. I love the shots of them running through the station area.
Keep up the good work
cheers richard. hopefully now i have some working lines i will be able to get some more shots of other stock running through the station.
Keep up the great work :)
yes the peco buffers have totally transformed the small tmd now.
and it is nice to see the trains go round whilst im working on the layout.
Great update Terry. Really like the idea of two of the main lines splitting off from the other two and then joining back up again. Adds a bit of character to the layout rather than just having all 4 running together. Keep the track up and working is a MUST lol. Your layout & detail is awesome mate & thanks for all your instructional you have saved me ££££££££'s mate.
its a pleasure matey. glad my videos have saved you time and money as i know there are so many pitfalls in this hobby.
Hi Terry glad to see the trains running you beat Kev lol some great shots of the trains running like the rake of wagons looks so realistic buffers certainly makes a big difference and that shot of that area looks cool and really like the look of the retaining wall certainly taking shape cheers Kevin

thanks for the comment tim. yeah i did not mean to add the sound affects but it was very windy that day at glebe rd lol.
Hi Terry just got in from my shed after working on the town scene bit cooler in there today.

Cheers fella. Look forward to it in due course.
theres an amazing old dis used sub station by old oak common, perhaps you should build that?
No news, no update since two years... What happened ?
What do you use for your grass?
