For close to 50 years, I have traveled to historic sites throughout Virginia, but I never knew anything about this handsome structure. Thanks for sharing
That house appears to be a bright and cheery place upstairs, but that basement is less so... What an amazingly preserved house. I have never heard of this house. Thank you for sharing.
That was how I learned about it. My mother had a large book of historic houses in the U.S., and it dated from the 40s. The description of this house included some unusual incidents.
I agree with the previous comment. Never knew this place existed. Thanks for sharing your travels-many of us greatly appreciate it. Nice the way you opened the video. Beautiful architecture.
Never heard of this one. Hard to think it’s been unoccupied since 1938. Another possible future idea is the Montgomery Museum in Christiansburg. It is moving into a larger building so it can better display more of its acquisitions.
They call it "The Pepper House", after a physician that lived there, but he didn't build it, and wasn't the first to live there. The house was built in 1853 as the Manse (preacher's home) for the Prebyterian Church, (built at the same time, still standing, and still in use on Main St.) The real history is with the first resident, a minister named Nicholas Washington Chevalier, and his wife, Bethina Frances Stuart, the sister of General J.E.B. Stuart.

Wow!
Beautiful house. I've never heard about it before. Nice that you got a private tour.
I grew up in Culpeper County. All us kids knew this place was haunted, and stayed away from it.
My family lived there in 1880's,,any Information on them?
