Why do you have holes in your work surface? You must lose lots of small parts down those holes. BTW. the easiest way to get the magnet out of a speaker is 4 seconds with a hammer. I've done it many times without damaging the magnet.

Another EXCELLENT lathe build .... The Ferrite ring magnet from a busted microwave oven's magnetron is easier to get at and is NOT covered in residues .... then use your loudspeaker unit ( as shown ) to construct a VERY handy continuity tester using two transistors one resistor and one capacitor + a 1.5 Volt battery .... ( tried - n - tested ) ..... DAVE™🛑

Yes! You could melt plastic in acetone, solder-melt a nail in each hole for structure, inject the melted plastic in any hole, machine large nails into small feet, induction heat them (with homemade coil made from security camera batteries) and fuse them to the bottom so the container will stand up horizontally, then use the same steps to fill the speaker hole on the other part, using a circle cut from your neighbor's Honda bumper, then take a plastic clothes hanger, trim it with a homemade electromatic heat knife, form it using your homemade induction coil wired to a Philips screwdriver with the handle cut off, into a lip structure on the "lid". After refinishing the pieces using 60 grit and body filler made from ramen, paint it with nail polish that has been chemically altered with cat urine. PRESTO!!! You have made a food storage container without the expense or trouble needed to buy Tupperware!!!!

@@leswelch4491 One lathe ( Myford ) I use for small items & it can perform some milling via the use of accessories. The larger ( Metal Master )
for heavier, larger jobs. Lastly my wood lathe is going to being donated to our local men's shed on completion of their new premises. You asked about 2 lathes at once , in my days prior to retirement I would often have several machines going at once. Mill , lathe , surface grinder.
Life is much easier if you have a lathe,so many things can be done. Can't imagine being without. Even a small bench top machine can get you out of trouble. All the best & happy tinkering.
