Brian wrote the song and he initially intended to record it himself, but he ultimately felt it needed to be a queen thing. This was also John's last recording with Queen.
Awww. It hurts
This makes me cry every time. Brian and Roger wrote this when they could. This was actually the last time John Deacon played with Queen. Freddie’s death hit him very very hard. He said there’s no Queen without Freddie.
BTW. Freddie gave Brian his baby grand piano. Brian still has it in his home now. Yes, the reference to no one but you with Freddie causing a huge sensation and his ability to get through - meaning reaching all the fans. No matter how large the audience, Freddie made each one feel like Freddie was connecting to them.
There will never be another front man like Freddie
John actually played with them one more time at the premiere of the Bejart Ballet in Paris. The ballet featured music by Queen and Mozart and is amazing. The band performed The Show Must Go On with Elton John as vocalist.
@@betseyclark2832 Yes! That was so good.
@@betseyclark2832
I think they performed at Ballet for Life before this
I think he has his tour piano not his personal/home piano
Heart shattering
I bawl like a freaking baby every time I watch this video. How can you miss someone so much who you’ve never met? 💔
Awwww man .. buckle up!! I can’t get thru this video without tears!💧
Heart-wrenching watching Deaky’s bass guitar droop in sadness! 😢
Thanks Rory for your reaction!! Freddie is deeply missed! 🎼🎼👑
Brian wrote the lyrics and gave them to Roger who put them in a drawer and forgot about them - until he suddenly rang Brian saying "we must do that" - . There is a video where they tell about their thoughts about the making of this video - explaining what they wanted to convey . You can find it on UA-cam . Thank you for the reaction.
Lots of references in this to Freddie (flying too close to the sun - Mercury; a hand above the water) and to their songs (a tricky situation is from It's a Hard Life). All 3 (Freddie, Brian and Roger) sang a verse each on "Let Me Live"
This is a beautiful song with a lot of symbolism, written by Brian for Freddie. I believe this was the last Queen song that John Deacon played on the recording. Bittersweet, this song always gets a tear or two out of me as I see how difficult it is for each of them to tough it through. Brian wrote this song and gave a copy of it to Roger to listen to but Roger stashed it in a drawer and it wasn't until much later after Diana and Versace had died that Roger actually listened to it. Brian had just figured that Roger didn't like the song because according to Brian, Roger never liked Brian's songs. But Roger rang him up and said he really liked it and thought that they should do it as Queen. So by the time the song was recorded it had taken on three losses instead of just Freddie as Brian had originally intended it. Brian May's solo song for Freddie is "Nothin' But Blue", which he had actually written the night before Freddie died. I didn't know the history of that song the first time I listened to it but the guitar solo was so emotive that I started sobbing, having no idea why I was so moved. Roger's song is "Old Friends". Both are beautiful songs.
Brian has said it was after the ballet he was thinking of doing a song.
When Diana died August he was prompted to do it
It was released Nov
The drawing of Icarus that you see at the very beginning is one that Freddie drew in art college. There is a LOT of symbolism in the video, right down to the champagne glass on the piano.
Must do “Let me Live” next, all three sing on that track. You’ll love it
Yes!
Yess!!
On the song Let me live, Freddie, Roger and Brian sing a verse each.
It's good too. Another request!!! 😁
The drawing in the beginning was a drawing Freddie had done
John looks so broken, breaks my heart
A hand above the water refers to the statue of Freddie on the shore in Montreux Switzerland. John only played one more time after this with Roger and Brian as Queen. They performed The Show Must Go On in 1997 at the premiere of the Bejart Ballet with Elton John as vocalist. The ballet featured music by Queen and Mozart and is fantastic. The main dancer died of AIDS around the same time as Freddie so this ballet commemorates them both.
I cry every time I hear this song and watch the video
Rog and Fred both sing on 'Rock it - Prime Jive' from 'The Game' album.
They were both Rogers songs
Roger sang all his others in the 70s but started to include Freddie.
80s Freddie started to sing lead on Rogers songs and Roger lead on some.
84 Ga Ga was the first single Roger released
( just clarifying for Rory)
Thanks Rory for your reaction and thoughts 💗 Such a beautiful and yet heartbreaking tribute to Freddie! Deegie almost couldn’t do this, and as we know, was his last time recording with Queen. He said... nope can’t do it without Freddie😢it’s not right. I totally understand his decision. ❤️
You can see the pain in John when at one point he dropped down his bass neck
Have indulged in this reaction of yours several times...touching...your relaxed, caring observations together with Deaky, Roger and Brian's emotions mesmerising me, I couldn't talk/write. I had read somewhere that Roger wrote his words - not certain it's fact - easy to believe tho'. Roger says the suggested tape from Brian laid around in his (Rogers) drawer for about a year then decided to listen. Just an amazing offering in every way. Thanks for your attention to it.
“Brian relax ….. “ 😢
Brian did the opening of the official video for "Who Wants to Live Forever" and then Freddie came in, back to Brian for a short few words then Freddie did the rest. Brian also finished Mother Love as well. You did another great review, thanks Rory
This guy has become a queen fanatic !
Sometime Making One Vision documentary, longer version, it ´s nice to see them working together in the studio, thank you
Roger did Say It Isn't True and performed for Nelson Mandela who's son died of Aids as well.
Have your tissue ready Rory 😭😭omg I cry every time
Wow 🥰 we still love you Freddie ❤️ you are so missed ❤️ Freddie Mercury ❤️
There is a song called Let Me Live where they all sing a verse except for John x such a beautiful song for their brother John looks absolutely heartbroken 😔 a hand above the water is a reference to Freddie’s statue in Montreux by the lake x Nothin But Blue I think is the Brain May song x
Let me live was done after Freddie death.
It was meant to be a duet Freddie and Rod Stewart
83 vocals of Freddie and they added their aftetwards and music
It was included on their 97 album Queen Rocks
Beautiful tribute to Freddie ❤️ Great reaction
There's a great documentary "the Making of No One But You" you'd love it
I can not make it through this video without crying ♥️
Roger wrote one for Freddie. It’s called
Say It’s Not True❤️
I miss Freddie 😢
There's part of an interview, possibly within a documentary, I think Brian started the song, gave Roger the tape which went into a draw for quite a while, but they recorded it in 1997 by which time they included Diana Princess of Wales as she'd been friends with Freddie and I think the other three and the Italian designer had been murdered outside his home again I think someone they knew so as with Queen songs all inclusive, and the last time you'll see John he retired from public life and has rarely spoken with the other two over the years, but he's still included in all aspects of what the remaining members do, likewise Mary Austin and Freddie sister, and also his parents until their deaths. Fred said you can do anything with my music and image just don't make me boring
Should listen to Let Me Live from Made In Heaven record, Freddie, Brian and Roger all sang in that song.
Brian sang the last verse of Mother Love as he died before it could be finished.
Brian said its a tribute to Freddie but as much to Princess Diana who died around that time and prompted him to write it
And those who die young
Ballet for life opened in 97 a tribute to Freddie and their lead ballet dancer and all those who died of AIDS and went too soon
Mainly Queen music and a bit of motzart!
1997 and the ballet is fab.
Let's me live lagu yg sangat menyentuh buat saya, karena suara Freddie begitu nyata padahal aslinya Freddie sudah tiada
React to Let Me Live, all the 3 sing in this song.
But it wasn't recorded together.
Freddie vocals are from 83. It was going to be a duet with Rod Stewart
@@bluebell3720 I know it
@@Dillon12
Just clarifying because he asked had they ever wrote a song together to have different parts...
@@bluebell3720 ok, I was just suggesting a reaction.
Brian wrote this, sent it to Roger, they recorded a year later....
I think it was a couple of months later
This song hurts
This is very much a Brian song. He has recounted how he gave it to Roger who absently threw it in a drawer & came across it months later. I’m sure it became a collaboration as their songs always did.
The only song I can think of that had more than one vocal is the studio cut of who wants to live forever. Brian does the first verse.
I thought you did this one already too. Yes, there have been a number of tracks that they did throughout their career where two or more shared lead lyrics. Thanks, Rory!
io amo questa canzone e amo freddie ma fammela sentire
Yes, please check out Nothin' but Blue, from Brian May solo album Back to the light, dark but better in my opinion. And check out Soul Brother written by Freddie about Brian, there is a lot of references about songs Brian wrote like in No One But You
Another song where more than one of them sing lead is Action This Day on the Hot Space album. Freddie and Roger sing that one.
Rory the one you were trying to think of that you did is Say It’s Not True
I miss John .
I’m so glad Brian has Freddie’s piano. The four of them truly were family. Difficult to watch John perform after Freddie died. I agree with John… there is no Queen without Freddie. Brian and Roger are still great and I love their music but they’re not Queen.
Its the touring piano not his personal one
Touching to watch John, apart from Brian & Roger yet present... rather a drift and lost. The room feels empty without Freddie...but full of emotion.
Who wants to live forever is a duet with Brian and Freddie
😢😢😢😢
John Deacon is the coolest because he shows Freddie the greatest respect by withdrawing early and not participating in the total sell-out of a legend like Brian and Roger unfortunately did with their Queen and Adam Lambert stuff
1997
You should do Rogers song
On Foreign sand
I very much like 'Sunny Day' by Roger Taylor 🔥👑☀️
What 2nd Roger Taylor song👀
Say its not true and old friend.
I CRIED WITH THIS SONG
Rogers voice is brilliant on his soloalbum Fun in space- Say it's not true! It will blow your mind!
Too toriatte.
