The bass is just out of this world. The entire band kills it but that bass is so smooth.

This album is fucking phenomenal. Fates Warning more than any other band has successfully reinvented themselves time and time again.
Feel this one fell under alot of people's radar there is tastes of grunge and punk to this prog rock master piece. Such a talented group of humans. Still putting out world class music.

I like the atmosphere of Disconnected. Moore's contribution acts to bind the tracks together, so they feel like a single cohesive work. And then there's Still Remains - perhaps one of the best tracks FW has ever created.
Killer album. Disconnected was a great change of pace....
Kevin Moore is simply astounding, breath taking. I love his chilling sound so much.

Close to three decades listening to the best band within the genre and one of the best metal bands of all time, one can never be tired, NEVER.

This has aged well over the years, I was not a huge fan when this first came out, but that I think was due to the inaccessible style of songwriting that required repeated listening. Therefore it is of a true progressive and long lasting mold. Top songs on this for me are "So, Something From Nothing and the uber classic of Still Remains".

I think Disconnected is the absolute best album of all time! Fates Warning should definitely always use keyboards in their line up!
" Disconected" Best album of all times , uhmmm thats makes me wonder about Black Sabbath "Paranoid" or "Master of Reality" , Deep Purple " In Rock" and " Machine Head" , Led Zeppelin 1 and 2 , Uriah Heep " Salisbury" " Very Umble very Eavy" , Rainbow " Rising" ( considered the BEST HEAVY METAL ALBUM OF ALL TIMES by Kerrang Magazine and All Music) Black sabbath " Mob Rules" , Iron Maiden " The number of the Beast" AC DC " Highway to Hell " or " Back in Black " , Whitesnake " Whitesnake 1987, Metallica " Ride the lightning" or " Master of Pupet" , Dio " Holy Diver" " The last in Line" , Queen " Bohemian Rapsody " etc etc etc all those albums are 100 light years BETTER that this album , dont take me wrong is a Good album , BUT the " Best of all times" , wuaoo you need to listen ALLOT of music , I have more than 2000 Cds ( including all Fates Warning) sugestion , listen Lake of Tears " Moons and Mushrooms" 07 or " Illwill" 2011 and you will understand what I said . God I adore this album. It took me a while. Too samey, too bland, too lethargic.
And then Kev Mo's magic spells weaves around. And you notice ONE note more in the next chorus. Then two. Then a new synth. Then ... you are in love with this CD. The emotions are held back so tight, when they explode it's frigging Chernobyl times ten.

Funny thing is that with Kevin Moore on this,it seems like a more straightforward rock album from them.Jim has generally leaned towards more complicated arrangements.its a good album,just a bit different from alot of the rest of the catalogue.
It's not just Mark Bones and everything...Ray is my favorite vocalist. 1993 and i believe guys people thought that tour sucks....it was excellent ...that was incredible . ignore these asswipy

One of my favorite bands of all time, but one of my least favorite albums by them. If you're new to FW, first listen to Parallels, Perfect Symmetry, No Exit, or even Inside Out. Now having said that, one of my favorite FW songs is on this album - Still Remains.
Don't remember the first three albums! Awaken is more underrated.
@@Starlesschild I love Awaken the Guardian! I really think that that album was the first real progressive metal album. They had some prog elements on the first two albums, but Awaken was a quantum leap forward in writing. John Arch was phenomenal on that too. It was his last album though before Ray Alder joined the band and propelled them to prog metal heaven with their best recordings mentioned in my earlier post.
I have loved Fates Warning for decades, but just can’t handle the air raid siren vocals from Arch. So I always begin my FW binges at “No Exit”. I think Ray has great colors to his voice, and his singing actually improved after he lost his ability to shriek. The timbre of his voice is much more interesting now that he’s had to really learn how to connect with what he’s singing. Check out his work on the Redemption albums. He sounds fantastic.

+Rodrigo MT "Inside Out" is definitely higher..... not their most technical album, but the songwriting is amazing, very underrated...... and the best FW album is by far "Perfect Symmetry" album, probably the second best Prog. Metal album I ever heard, that album combines their best songwriting, lyrics and technicality + the best vocals from Alder...... the band was at their peak during that time.....

Justin Brantley ...I’m listening Fates for 29 years already, I have been on 4 concerts (in different countries) till now and I will not miss next in Europe, and, hold on, I didn’t listen yet first 3 albums...I don’t have my personal best, simply because always depends on my own “now” feelings. And FWX is absolutely amazing, like the others - “Wish” is...I have no words to describe and this is just one song. I’ve tried to love J.Arch, but I can’t - amazing voice and technique, but it’s not for me. To try to put Fates albums in Rangliste is ridiculous - all of them are winners!
