    Im surprised anyone is still recommending aureolin since it’s so fugitive and goes grey pretty quickly - it’s only any good for sketchbooks really. I love Naples yellow though it’s in every palette I ever use. Mixed with Winsor and Newton smalt it makes the most gorgeous soft greys and mixed with cobalt green it makes lovely creamy apple colours. - though it’s different in many brands. Maimeri and Windsor Newton versions work the best in mixes I find.

    Thanks for creating this video. I was convinced Naples yellow was useless. Oops! Newbie here.

      The only color that is "dead to me" is Paynes Gray. But this is a subject watercolor artists with argue about to the grave!

      @@furioustv5850 In terms of value . I think Napes yellow should be 2 at the most. I know an oil painter who used 2 naples yellow a lot. Karen Oneil. You might want to check her out on Google . You can see Naples yellow everywhere in her work.,

    Can you explain again how do you mixed the purple that is drawn in vertically at eight minutes 16 seconds? I love your explanation of Naples yellow, thanks.

    It's a bit inaudible but I thought I picked up a lot. I'm trying to find naples yellow in acrylic. I wonder if yellow ochre will do. What about 'cerulean blue'?

      Naples yellow is quite dark. It is the darkest of my yellows. Can you find a lighter yellow?

  • @pbasswil

    It's really hard to get an idea of the colour itself, because the paper appears _very_ cream-coloured in this video. (There's no way to tell _how_ cream/off-white it actually is, it could look that way due to skewed white-balance in the video....)

      Yes, it is Windsor Newton professional grade Naples Yellow. It is very light. I have seen other Naples yellows that are much darker.

    Can you mix naples yellow with limitted pallete?

    • @jomackenzie7065
      @jomackenzie7065  3 роки тому

      Yes. I have done it but often need a brighter more saturated yellow also. I really see Naples yellow as a neutral but I use it in a triad as a yellow frequently.
