Wait when you setup your console did you update the console through the internet connection or not? I just want to see if the pairing the disc drive is true if it works without the internet connection requirement. And if it needs it then it's a pass for me thing's like that make me feel uneasy.
I swapped my ssd as well on my slim and it worked perfectly. I also installed it before i even powered on the ps5. The games showed on my home screen immediately.
Short answer is YES it works idk y ppl would think it wouldn't. I didnt even plug in my Pro, right out the box i put the ssd in and it was ready to go on boot up
If you install your SSD immediately, before even powering the console on, your games show up right away. There's no need to set up the PS5 Pro first. Just install it and then set it up.
It's cool that it works as you (and everyone) hoped it would. I suppose it makes sense given it's just essentialy an 'extended storage' drive connected via NVMe slot, ie not used for OS files etc. If you have a USB HDD connected as 'extended storage', you can even move that between PS4 & PS5.
its good that sony used some common sense that you can move the m.2 drive from one ps5 to another without a format. I'm sure its tried to your account which is fine in that way so I doubt it would work if it detects a different account without buying the game first on that account. good to know.
I did the same, selling my PS5 a few weeks ago and I put my NVME in the Pro before first switching on and all my games were there and showed on the home screen
yes you can just transfer user data and console settings from old PS5 the games from the internal storage can also be transferred this way but it's faster to put them on the ssd or external drive then just take the ssd and put it in the pro and all your games will show
They were promising 8k and it's not even 8k to begin with. I'm getting a gpd win 4 (2024) updated version with the dock even though it is sold separately but it's still a better deal than that in my opinion
got mine today and i installed everything in one go, drive, blank ssd. didn't realize stands were different size but later corrected. Powered up with no issue. It never complained about getting the order off. The updates were quick
@@mrbob4104not every game will look sharper with the filter. The upscalling can make some of them look worse. Even the OS advise to turn tge feature off in if it interfere with a game.
Yes, I took my SSD out of my launch PS5 Digital put it my Pro transferred the licenses, and they all played fine. Yes, all your stuff is still there. The Pro doesn't even ask to format it as it reads like the drive was in your previous PS5.
I just did the same thing, installed the disc drive and swapped my 4TB SSD from the old to the new and it worked fine. BTW, did you noticed they changed the shape of the M.2 SSD cover? It's not the same as the orig PS5. Old Heatsinks will fit, but you can't but the new cover into the old PS5.
It’s good that you showed this video. I currently have my PS5 since 2021 and have a 4TB M.2 SSD in it, and wonder if I can just move the M.2 over to the PS5 Pro without having to reformat it. I was on the fence of getting a PS5 Pro because of the cost. I heard only 3 PS5 games support 8K resolution, just surprised it’s not on the box
Can you hot swap them ? What I mean is say you have filled one up, can you take it out and put a new one in ? Then if you want to play games off the other one, can you out that back in to play them ?
Good question actually. Hope it gets answered, I wanna know too. I've got a 4tb filled to max and would rather just get another 4tb to swap for a good price rather than pay 3X as much per tb for a 8tb drive. 4tb ssd roughly 300$ wheres the 8tb is 1k plus 🤢. Also the grievous transferring around would take days.
Nice unboxing dude , but the only mid gen upgrade I've ever had was the Master System II which was my first ever console.Always been fine with base model ,and not changing
You spend $800 dollars on ps5 pro there a lot features miss they put a cheaper processor to cut cost games that run at 120 frames can only run at 60 frame and they cut cost just so Sony can sell it for more money
I also supported the ps5 pro. I have a 4k 120hrtz LG Oled TV. Looks amazing playing gow, the last of us, ff7 rebirth, blk opps 6, and so on. It's silky, smooth, and sharp. Well worth it for me.
I did not know this and can never find a direct answer online so I appreciate this man. All I have is disc games so please let me know if a disc game boots up still with the sdd swap. I have to take my ps5 somewhere else to update my games due to no fast internet in my area still in 2024 so it would be nice to know I can swap drives and have all my updated games ready to go on a new console if my og 5 decides to croak out.
I found this trick out the night before the pro’s release. A video of a leaked pro showed a guy doing this very thing and it worked. It took me roughly 1.5 hours to move a little over a tb and less than 5 min. to move 2.65 tbs! 🤙🏻✌🏻👊🏻
I don’t have a ssd originally. I have a pro and a ps5 . I have to transfer my old games with both systems on correct. Then I will connect my new ssd 4 Terabyte.
Yo man, so tell us what you notice, if it's actually any faster or anything. 'Cause honestly I thought the standard PS5 was already plenty fast. lol. I thought the only real benefit was 4K, which I don't have in my game room anyway.
I wished i knew about the M.2 drive keeping your games. It would have saved me time. Sony should be more clear on this. I ended up moving my games over from the m.2 to internal 3 times just to move the games over.
Oh thank god, the only way I could justify buying the pro would be if I could trade my old ps5 in for a discount, I think I've got enough space on my ssd to where I can transfer all my games and saves from the console to it and not have to query about doing a console to console transfer. At least I'll get full trade in price off instead of buying the pro full price, doing a console to console transfer, then trading it in for cash price or selling it on marketplace
I’m glad for the review, but no thanks for the PS5 pro. For me, I’m done with Sony and Microsoft. I plan on keeping my PS5 for use as a 4K Blu-ray physical media platform. I rarely play games on it and find myself always using my Switch and classic consoles. Not sure what happened, but I have no interest for new games and the stuff I get for the switch is retro inspired. Not sure if anyone else is in a similar mental state like me, but I feel like modern games are not made for me and my interests.
What about disc based games…. It’s the same method … plug and pick up where we left off …. Because I see the progress made but the saved data won’t load
Hey bro, big fan & long time supporter of your channel. Can you please, please, please...do a video explaining how to properly transfer Magnus RC builds to a flash drive. Alot of people seem to have trouble with the process of downloading & extracting them for the psx classic
I have a question. Do I have to install the M2 drive before I switch on the Pro for the first time? I mean, I intend to migrate all my save data, account and installed games from the internal ssd of my old PS5, to that of the PS5 Pro (maybe use a LAN cable to help speed things up), but it's unclear what's the correct order to do things. My 2TB M2 drive is loaded with PS5 games and I don't want the system to accidentally prompt a format on it during the process because it would be a hassle to re-download all those installed games again! I know this video unswered my question, but I heard somewhere that the right time to do it is essential and it involves not downloading anything because on reboot, the Pro will prompt a format for the drive. So, to sum things up, do the data migration first between the two consoles and then put the M2 drive and it just recognises it on the go, or put the M2 first, fire-up the console and then do the migration process?
First turn on the pro and set it up, then turn it off and install the drive, you can have some issues if you install the drive before ever even turning on the console.
That is SUPER COOL that you can just move your SSD to the PS5 Pro & play your games that were on your other PS5(that were installed on the removable SSD of course & not the original PS5 internal SSD) 👍+ I haven't seen anywhere online about info in doing that to :D (even SONY hasn't mentioned it to er i think) + I don't think you could of done that with the PS4(&PS3s) Hard drives to i.e take out a Hard drive from one PS4 & stick it in another PS4 & your games would just work(well i think you can't) Thanks for the video 😎
hmm maybe I should try this too. Move all the installed games over to a 4TB M2 drive I have laying around on my PS5 and then pop it in my Pro. But damn, all the disc drives are sold out and are selling for over $200, lol. I should have bought one on Sony's site before it sold out earlier this week.
We are not laughing at you. The SSD M.2 story could go either way. What I am a little more intrigued by is that you didn't know what the feet were for, as that was part of the Slim lineage controversy. Personally, I was a bit in the wrong there too because I have the slim with the drive, and the feet are tall. I had not seen that the feet were different on the digital slim, so when I first saw the Pro small feet I immediately understood it won't work with the drive bought later. I thought the drive sold separately didn't include the feet needed for the drive, regardless of pro or slim, and that angrered me because I thought it was yet another sold-separately story. I still haven't found out if the Pro feet are identical to the Digital Slim feet, but the separate drive feet look identical to the included drive for the Slim model.

Yes you can, that’s what I did and the improvement in some games like Jedi Survivor is amazing, planning on finally going through Rebirth this weekend :)

"Disc version''.
Its not a disc version......
There is no disc version of the PS5 Pro...........
it’s just an add on now. don’t know why people are getting so hung up on this. it’s not like they’re making it impossible to play discs on the thing, it’s just cheaper than manufacturing two separate consoles like they did at launch
100 for a disc player is cheaper o.o
The ssd panel doesn't fit in properly it's loose.
You talked all that trash, and yet you still bought the damn thing smh
Sega, atari and neo geo are taking notes from nintendo
Mine didn’t work it sucks
I know it's for the video and he should make the money back, but what a total waste of money 😐
Glad to see you review the PS5 Pro.
nice rammstein tattoo
No thanx, too pricey for me
Yes you can, that’s what I did and the improvement in some games like Jedi Survivor is amazing, planning on finally going through Rebirth this weekend :)
Why shouldn't you be able to as long as you own the game licenses and are logged on the console.
If you couldn't Sony failed even more
Not worth money to buy pro and disc drive separate
Sounding purposefully aloof is not a good look
Was going to make a "whiney" comment, but that wouldn't be a very constructive thing to do!
The title of this video is absurdly incorrect
eh I will pass on this one
I like how you noticed the stand holes. The first thing I noticed is that the side fins are just for looks. I was sure they would be for airflow, nope, just for looks.
that funny i am playing through robocop rogue city
Amazing game! One of the best releases last year
Ill be skipping this generation 100%. But yet I'm still watching 😂
N I feel for them not having disc drive or a fuckin stand, they should have at least put the playstation edge controller in the box (think thats what it's called)
Sony’s next console will be console-free.
