    a very relevant topic... Unfortunately, there are still small chances that the Clerk at the desk in Mexico doesn't like the way you look and rejects you on a small technicality. This has been my experience TWICE. My Mexican Attorney said my paperwork was perfect... I am Married to a Mexican Born- INE card carried. Everything was apostilled, translated and more. She simply said NO because she could. very weird honestly. stuff happens... I continue to live part-time in Mexico and part-time in the USA... guess it's better that way.

    So much great information! We recently went through this process in San Miguel and were thankful to have hired a facilitator. Sandra certainly knows her stuff. I would encourage anyone considering residency to seek professional assistance. It is money well spent!

      Unless you have a pretty good command of the Spanish language we highly recommend a facilitator. -Marc

    Hi Marc & Paulette, I’ve been a subscriber for a while now and really enjoy the content. My husband and I just got our temporary residency last week in Merida. We completed the first half in Arizona and hired a facilitator to finish the process. We flew in on a Sunday night, met our facilitator the next day @ INM and were given an appointment for the following Wednesday. When we arrived on Wednesday, their printers were down and said it was a problem in CDMX. They told us to come back the following morning for photos and fingerprints, which we did, and we received our cards within an hour.
    Overall, a pretty smooth, although stressful experience. I personally wouldn’t have tackled it without a facilitator. Thanks again for your really informative content !! 😃

      Unless you have a pretty good command of the Spanish language we highly recommend using a facilitator. Congratulations on getting your residency. Now enjoy Merida and all that it has to offer. -Marc

    Make sure You plaster your Canje ( Visa stamped inside of your passport) to your forehead, when You pass through Immigration at the airport or wherever, so that you are not stamped in as a tourist. That said the Authorities INM know their jobs very well, and are extremely helpful

      Oh man "Plaster your canje to you forehead" im laughing out loud about that. The INM people have always been helpful to us but we have also heard some stories. -Marc

    No Marc: Photos infantiles are not required to the best of my knowledge....I got them taken 2 years ago when I came down to do my RP and even back then they said not necessary! I just wanted to cover in all, just in case I did it on my own ( I speak fluent Spanish) had my card in 10 days, but now believe it is even shorter.

      Hi Tom, yeah Paulette corrected me on the photo. When Paulette when in for her appointment she got the card that day. The process is getting faster then it used to be. You just have to schedule an appointment within 30 days of your visa expiring which is what she did.

    Hi
    Question. We do not plan on retiring to Mexico for at least 5 years. As a Canadian, can we get a TR and not actually live there until we are ready? TIA

    • @TheTwoTravelersInMexico
      @TheTwoTravelersInMexico  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes, but you’ll have to return to Mexico couple times to renew your residency. You have to be in Mexico while they complete the process which will take a week or two. The first time they will give you a one year temporary residency, you will need to come back to Mexico near the end of the first year to go to either a 1,2 or 3 year temporary residency and then when you near the end of your fourth year if you do the 3 option of temporary residency you’ll have to come back to Mexico to convert to permanent residency and then you don’t have to return to Mexico until your ready to be here full time. -Marc

      @@TheTwoTravelersInMexico I don't know any retired person having that kind of money from their pension . We are lucky if we make 5 thousand a month together with our company pension. I guess they don't want any expats there.

    Mexico 🇲🇽 is making money off the program so I believe it will stay ...

    • @TheTwoTravelersInMexico

      It will be interesting to see if it stays. Especially with the escalating financial economic solvency requirements which will force more people to go the regularization route if it's available. -Marc
