    Regarding healthcare and bureaucracy: here in the U.S., yesterday I spent an hour-and-a-half on the phone trying to find out if my over-priced health insurance will still be contracted w my doctor next year (2025.) Between the clinic, medical group, insurance plan, and my state’s exchange, no one could tell me. How is this crapshoot in America any better?

      @ thank you for the reply and for confirming. But there’s more. Earlier this year I was approved for several tele-health visits at a in-network specialty facility, a major university hospital. My primary care physician and the specialty doctor affirmed the medically necessary visits. Each visit was approved by the health plan for a $15 co-pay. But, the facility billed according to which building the doctor was videoing in from! Huh?! This meant that several visits-instead of the promised $15 co-pay-imposed a co-insurance of over $80! My case has been elevated for research, but since August, no resolution and no one returns my calls. All I get are “payment due” reminders. I challenge ANYONE to explain how American healthcare is so superior when this is what we confront.

      @@fj8623 You have been put through the ringer on this one. Health care in Mexico is pretty much pay as you go even if you have a private healthcare plan here you still pay upfront and then try to get reimbursement but at least you know the cost upfront. Your not caught up in making phone call after phone call trying to get things covered. -Marc

    Well as I have commented before , you can hire professional workers that leave everything clean and be on time , but it will cost you a little less but almost like in the US, if you hire some eventual worker , you are the foreman when they arrive which usually is not on time . They’re free lancers and do the things at their pace . Regarding dogs , they have their own door , so they go out whenever they want but eventually my dogs heard something and they went out to bark , for those 1-2 times , my neighbor talked to me and asks them to keep them in at nights , which I did with the dog repercussions that such action bring in the morning and you have to clean . Most neighbors if you ask them to do something cos it bothers you, they will help you . Yes , there will always be nasty people that won’t do it and if you insist they’ll do it on purpose, but those are seldom cases Regarding Toll Plazas as you call them ( Caseta de Cobro ) it’s still the remaining of neoliberal former governments where they privatized those highways and they made ridiculous contracts of 30,50 or even 100 years . New highways made from 2019 onwards , are quality ones and free . AMLO always said we already pay taxes and we shouldn’t pay more for toll plazas . Once the contracts end they won’t be renewed . The narrow sidewalks is based on the historical invasion of Spain where poor people before the Revolution on 1910, had no properties and Zapata among others face them land and they built “pueblos” with rocky streets and sidewalks , civilization reached them and when they got pavement the streets were like that , sometimes they got light or electricity before the pavement did , they put the poles there around the pavement . Since we are also United States, each State is free to decide if they receive the money and take care of the state hospitals or join the Bienestar System where all medicine and treatments, surgeries plus 24/7 service is available . 23 out of 32 have joined even with Claudia Sheinbaum , elders are being registered ending as of December , and doctors will visit elders home so they don’t have to move . The photo you used as a joke on how the national hospitals are , was not funny for me , they’re not even close they were all modernized since 2019 , satured maybe don’t know if the governor of San Luis joined the Bienestar System or not . Over all you’re very nice people .

    We have about 2 Mil US in brokerage account but our combined pension is 3,700 US. the brokerage accounts accrue dividends of 1,500+ per month. Is that going to work?

    • @TheTwoTravelersInMexico
      @TheTwoTravelersInMexico 7 днів тому

      The money in the brokerage account should be plenty. They don’t let you combine things usually like monthly income and interest earned. They may want to see that the accounts are in your name and accounts in the other persons name. If that’s the case and the accounts are in both names one of you can qualify at one consulate and the other at a different consulate using the same banking statements. It doesn’t make sense but that’s how some people do it. Sometimes one qualifies and then once they get their residency the other person can come in under family unity without having to or I’ve income. Honestly, the issue for Mexico is internal. Although people from the US/Canada may not make enough to qualify, the ones who do generally make more than the average Mexican, and income from people from outside of Mexico will drive prices up. My neighborhood/city in the US is dealing with the same thing - I spoke to two people recently, one who is retired and one who wants to retire next year. Both of them had decent jobs, and one even will have a pension, but they cannot afford to remain in our city, and they were born here. One told me she is moving to Portugal. It's just bad all over, but I'm sure Mexico is trying to avoid what happened in Portugal, which is that they had to limit the purchase of property in certain regions because expats were driving the proces up (especially in Lisbon, the Algarve, and Porto).

    They are out of their minds. With their costs going up AND the requirements going up so much there is no point of moving. I can live here in Florida just as cheap and don't have to learn another language.. I know there are some things that are better there, but after watching videos for many years about various areas, it just sounds like to me they want only the rich to move there. I just want a place I can live off my SS and not siphon off my savings fast. And most places that are now 'affordable' there are not that nice.. Gringo pricing. Garbage everywhere, wild dogs and roosters.. Corrupt police.

      They are certainly pricing people out of the market as far as moving to Mexico.We're still living here in Mexico on about 40%of what it took us to live on in California. -Marc

      Why should we expect Mexico to want people who can’t 100% support themselves? We don’t want their poor! I’m in Mexico right now. No comparison to the nightmare that is Florida.

    If you can show $3000 per month from Social Security and you’re retired, can you get permanent residency? At age 62? or would you need to add investments to that?

      they don't care what the source is.. you have to meet the very high limit they have set. Which is ridiculous for such a backwards place.
