I wonder if stay stitching lightly near the edge-single line of straight or *slight* zigzag) lightly would provide adequate stability.

Sometimes starch stains my fabric. Is this normal? I create handmade knit jersey turbans for my business and I do prewash my fabric but I didn’t want to have to wash the finished product as well to get the fabric stains out. Thank you.
