Well in my country, things are pretty bleak from this point of view. But i started putting money aside, and am planning to invest in "green" stock, preferably EU, even if it doesn't yield profit (right away).

Ok, we here in Denmark are already working on only using green energy, actually one of the best at it (not trying to show off) but should I still demand even MORE from my fellow citizens, politicians, my country? You know the old saying "Rome wasn't build in 1 day"

Up until May 31 2022, Ørsted bought "natural gas" (=fossile gas) from Russian company Gazprom, and only stopped bc they demanded to be paid in Roubles.
Which measures are you taking to phase out fossile fuel? By when are you ending your fossile era?

In 2020, we launched our commitment to net-zero emissions across the full value chain by 2040, and globally, we’re the first energy company to have our 2040 net-zero target and underlying reduction targets for scope 1-3 approved as ‘science-based’ by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Beyond this science-based reduction target, we plan to go a step further by reaching net-zero in Scope 1-2 by 2025. We're already on track to meet our 2025 net-zero target, including phasing out coal in 2023. You can read more about our progress here: orsted.com/sustainability/esg-ratings-and-reporting/sustainability-report/science-based-net-zero-emissions-by-2040. Kind regards, Julie.

Sounds good, but nope > Reducing our energy consumption is our allies. The last decade showed us that green energy was added to fossil based, instead of replacing. Also, you need massive amount of ressources and extractions to make wind turbines from China or anywhere. Maintaining this global amount of energy consumption with renewable energy will still require a huge amount of emissions to build these millions of solar panels et turbines. I wish the film would say a world about this ;) Looks cinematic but that's a greenwashing commercial and it's so obvious. A kid could see that building millions of green machines is not so green, even if part the solution :)

Hi Arturo, higher temperatures could trigger several irreversible tipping points, such as melting of ice caps and disrupting ocean circulation.
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) stresses the importance of keeping global temperature increases within 1.5°C to limit the negative consequences of climate change. I remember the time magazine cover in the 1,970s saying that we are in the middle of a coming ice age. That never happened either. They said in the middle of the 1,990s that the oceans were going to be uninhabitable by the middle of the 2000's.That never happened either I don't understand why these people are still called @"experts" when they have not been right yet.

So we should just cut all the trees down and clear all the wooded lands of the world to put in solar farms and wind farms so the clusters of people in the big cities can have green energy and feel good about there concrete jungles. I've put up windmills there is nothing good about the cutting down of trees and taring up of dirt to " go green". To start this process big equipment is moved in that uses fule then start cutting clearing getting rid of trees with chain saws then rip up leave ground dig foundation for wind miss. If solar same process. This is sham trees use carbon make oxygen the cycle starts again.

There's plenty of space for offshore wind turbines to power the whole world if we want it. That's one of the advantages of offshore that we don't have to use land areas. Of course like any other infrastructure projects, it has to be considered what impact it has on nature, which I'm sure is not always taken into account in all projects in a high enough degree.
Wind turbines does take up more space than power plants, but especially with new efficient wind turbines, it's not that much to use 150 square meters to power 5000 homes or more, which is the case if building them on agricultural land where the fields around them can be used. I would think this is much more common than building in forests.

    • @prpr9570

A complete green transformation of the energy system will do away with almost 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions, so replacing fossil fuels with green energy is the main lever in fighting climate change and is the right thing to do. There are of course also other levers, for instance regarding agriculture and our food system. As an energy company, we choose to focus on the areas in which we operate and have expertise around.
