British Airways unveils reimagined #FlowerDuet theme (used in previous BA ads and inflight) as part of centenary celebrations.
    - Music, it's been a passion of my life. It communicates with people. It gets sort of straight to your heart, if you like. It's quite a powerful tool in that regard. I'm Lyndon OOI, and I'm the leader of British Airways' orchestra. My role is quality engineer in British Airways camo. I've been given a challenge to compose a piece of music to celebrate the British Airways centenary. The music had to be based upon Lakme and to be composed for the British Airways orchestra. I felt very excited, then I felt, okay, how can I design this piece? What came about was this idea of creating 100 bars to represent the 100 years of British Airways history. In order to fit the 100 years into the piece, it means that the conductor might be tearing his hair out at me, but we will see closer to the time. Diatonic scale, three-eights as 380, seven eight sevens on trill, duh duh duh, and then three in the next two bars.
    - Okay, once again then please from the beginning.
    - It actually starts on bar 1919, which happens to also be the first year that air transport and travel had its first flight. I introduce a bar of seven four, to represent the introduction of the seven four seven. Also, for the famous Concorde, I've given it some air time by introducing a little motif in bar 1976. I'm not sure if anybody else has tried to mimic different aircraft types in a piece of music before, so that might be a world's first. I'm nervous about the performance itself. It's a big day for me because this is the first time I've done anything of this scale. It will be heart pounding, so I'm hoping that it will all come together on the night.

They've done a good job with it, I think, and nice they have involved so many people and thought about it in the way they weaved so many references into the piece
