i am BA cabin crew at Gatwick, and since adding this onto my facebook it has become the talk of the base... everyone is watching it, sending it to friends and colleagues.... absolutely fantastic......
I was sent this by an ex BA flight attendant... almost can't stop watching it. Hilarious!!! Well done, ladies. If only every plane trip could be graced with such talent...
The wonderful West end Stars Nicola Keen and Jan Hartley. I think BA should adopt them - well maybe for Barcelona flights anyway! Thanks for making us laugh! Fantastic humour and dialogue.
Jan and Nicola - You two have become my newest/most cherished You Tube find; the sparkling performance was truly spot-on. I never envisaged that anybody could adapt Lakme's piece as wondrously as you; the angelic voices speak the plain, unvarnished truth of the Delphic Oracle.I too, on occasion, convert travelers' and fellow airline colleagues' foibles into sung parodies, usually adapted to pop or Broadway hits, but nothing entertained me more than this flawless rendition. Keep at it, Luvs!!
SUPER... I do ALOT of classical/opera (and have Lots of friends who are flight attendants!) and you ladies are FANTASTIC. Thank you for uploading and making me laugh!
@Aquabroad Yes, thank you..... You are so right.. Once a person has worked for an airline once he or she always wants to work for one for the rest of their lives.....My heart is still with the industry..... And half of my family still works for many US airlines.
This is so funny, I live in Canada and have loved the BA onboaring music but this is going to make me laugh everytime I fly with them now. Thank you 🙏🏽
AB Fab and Spot On !!! You gals are Great, with voices of angels !!! After a flying career of over 30 years. We can ALL relate, worldwide, to your wonderful sense of humor. Signed, UAL F/A 7 years Retired !!!
I love it, Nicola and Jan! Where were you two when I was trying to stay awake on those 14 hour all nighters? I could have played the guitar and you hum along with your angelic voices, trying to keep each other awake! So what if we missed a few oceanic position reports! :-) Keep the humor going. From the looks of things these days, flight crews could certainly use some! All the best, Captain Ross "Rusty" Aimer (UAL Ret.) CEO Aviation Experts, LLC San Clemente, CA
Excellent!!! Thank you both - great singing, actions and lyrics - really funny. I only wish this had been around when I was in Ops Ctrl - bet this is the talk of the crew community! =X-D
@RustyAimer787 Thank you for your lovely comments. We're so thrilled at the response, especially from cabin crew and indeed now from a captain like your good self! we're most flattered. expect we may have to adjust a couple of lines at our next gig to reference volcanic ash....just to stay topical.!!!!!
I still like this video....I still fall of my sofa when I see this video...Just too cute!!!!!!!Yes, I am a former purser flight attendant for United Airlines....Thank you so much.
@meezercattitude Super comments.Tthank you so much. With all the troubles the airlines are having recently its lovely to see they all still have a great sense of humour!
Delibes died in 1891 since that is well over 100 years ago his work is in the public domain in every country in the world. The only possible claim Sony could have is in the performance copyright of the backing track - if that was pre-recorded.
@mwinsor1 Elsewhere on UA-cam it is stated that the opera from which the music comes was written in 1883. Therefore it is no longer copyright. If the backtrack is a recent recording then that would be copyright. Also as performers of the piece the video of the performance is copyright which includes the backtrack if played live at the time. However, in the latter case I can't imagine they are too fussed about it.
Copyright (if any still exists) in the original music and libretto will belong to the Delibes estate. What Sony may have is copyright in the new lyrics and musical arrangement and in the performance used here.
OMG! You girls are so witty and talented, Ive just come back from overseas... wouldnt it be great if just for fun the attendants did a show lke that!! 2 thumbs up.... very very clever, loved it!! Daelene :-) Perth Western Australia
@oldgypsytap Gosh! just read your comment and was curious to see 'gypsy' in your user name so am now thrilled to hear from a fellow dancer such as your good self. ...and what a wonderful dancer too. so glad you enjoyed our clip from the show. long live Revue!! All the very best, Nicola
For music, there are very specific laws that govern when a piece or song lapses into the public domain. If the Copyright Office has no confirmation that a composer or song-writer is still living and it has been 75 years since the first copyright protection order was granted, or 100 years since the recognized creation date of the piece, it becomes public domain. Delibes wrote Lakme in 1883, so Sony have no copyright claim.
As an ex-cabin crew member I really did enjoy this video and found it so amusing. Well done guys! It really brightened my day.
It's taken 10 years to reach me but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to you two ladies. 8-)
