Richelle, your videos make me wish I lived in the Quebec area and could visit your LFS on a regular basis. You are not only extremely informative but your passion for the fish keeping comes through loud and clear. I have been doing a great deal of research on Mbuna and want to start a 30 gallon tank. I want to thank you personally as you have provided a wealth of awesome information and each video of yours I watch helps me to make a more informed decision.
Richelle, I just discovered you and your videos are jam-packed with useful information. I realize I am guilty of several errors you mentioned in my quest for clear water. I wonder if you could expand on a few topics: Do you suggest once or twice/day feedings? How much is too much food? I have about 60 fish (a variety of guppies, neons, plecos, swordtails) in a 46-gal tank. If I understand, each month when I replace the filter pads, the tank will get cloudy and need to recycle? Should a layer of ceramics be placed in the reservoirs of my hang-on filter/pump? Thanks for your time. Too many youtubers do not answer comments or questions; I see that you do and we really appreciate you.
New on your channel. Been into African chiclids for 35 years but I now have this custom 280 gal tank that recently began to stray cloudy, no matter what I tried. This video was helpful. We'll see! And yes, I liked and subscribed, not only for the useful information you bring but also because you are so pretty, and you're entertaining, in the way you express yourself. I like your show. Thanks for the info
Thanks for this video. I have been having issues with my tank the last couple weeks. I will take these tips and apply them to my tank. New to the hobby and appreciate your videos.
Hello Rochelle, I did not hear you mention about sponge filter in this video.... what if we only had that? and what if we had a dirted tank? Thanks for taking time to answer these questions
Hi…I have a 90 gallons Chiclid tank and I am using a very simple filter which takes the aquarium water from inside take it through a foam and put it back and the water seems to be fine. Do I need a more efficient filter which includes bio and mechanical filtration?
I've got two Eheim350T's on my 250L/66gal tank. So an 8x turn over per hour. No nitrite or nitrate to speak of. Though my water was hazy. Added a third 250T filled to the brim with 30 and 50PPI foam. Now my water is crystal clear.
Thanks for the video. I enjoy the knowledge you share with your viewers. I watched this one and the one on cloudy water. I have a small 6 gal tank and it use to be clear and in the passed weeks it is dim and cloudy. I have not added new fish to the tank for about 6 months now. I do not use a cartridge for my hang on filter, I use a course sponge and fine floss media. I change 10 percent of my water weekly. Some say the water change is too much and may be feeding the bacteria bloom. Very confusing on what is correct and what is not. I do rinse out my filter media monthly in the removed fish water and put it back in the filter. I use plastic plants and I removed them to see if that would help. Should I try some of the Ceramic media you mentioned?
Just wondering what you think. Just thought my water was a little cloudy and added a new carbon bag to the canister. Immediately the tank clouded up from the carbon 'dust". Should I be worried? New to this hobby. Thanks IA and love your vids :)
Thank you so much very Informative video I surely buy the t-shirt and one day visit your shop as well. Can we add ceramic with activated carbon in the same bottle?
Super tes vidéos Richelle. J'ai bien hâte qu'on puisse faire affaire ensemble. C'est bien aussi votre flexibilité en ces temps plus difficile pour vos clients. Je suis contente d'avoir découvert un bon lsf...enfin!!!
Should you replace the ceramic beads on hob filters if your fish or other creatures had a disease or infection? Can you bleach the beads if you use a crap ton of declorinator afterwards? Thanks for the info. By the way, your eyes and smile are so beautiful it's hard to concentrate on the useful information you provide. I bet guys just melt when you talk with them in person. Good Lord! :)
Bleaching the beads is fine if you take the time to remove it well after wards. Let it evaporate. And yes people melt .... because I shoot lasers out of my eyes!!!🔥🔥🔥👀
@@QuebecCichlides Thanks for that info! I ended up replacing the beads but I'll try bleaching the heck out of them and dechlorinating next time. I guess the lasers are yet another reason people think you're smoking hot! :)
Ok I finally got the water in my 29 gallon fish tank crystal clear after several weeks! I did 10 percent water changes daily making sure to treat the water I add back, I also used some clarifier solution. So now I have perfectly crystal clear water and now I’m going to be wicked cautious as to what to do next. Should I continue 10 percent water changes weekly now? When should I clean the filter? The filter is all new and must be filled with beneficial bacteria by now which is why my water is clear, when should I clean the filter? It’s like I don’t want to do anything as I finally got my water clear and I don’t want to mess things up! Help!!!
So i did a Water change, changed the gravel (GLO Gravel) an then i changed the sponge in my filter (Aqua clear 70) killed 6 of my fish an the water is super cloudy! Going on day 3. HELP ME 🤦🏽♂️
Pet stores (fish stores included) have been classified essential and are allowed to stay open. The non-essential businesses are allowed to continue for shipping and car pick-up. The stores that are cramped and very small closed for their safety. The Quebec definition of "essential" is very loose Business slowed down for us and we're working hard on transferring it all to our online shopping store. It's crazy how all us have to completely change our business model :P We have to adapt . Walmarts and other big surface stores are still open and packed,. There is still a lot of risk of contagion. They're essential because they have a little food section... but people shop around for other random crap they don't need.
The bacteria bottle also says that, use with every water change... €40 per month, no wonder they make a lot of money. Or just rinse them off and have it all for free.
Why is it that every time you hit on an interesting subject you stop and say you have another video pertaining to more info. It’s frustrating and unfortunate that there isn’t an all inclusive summary type video. Otherwise, I like the content.
Only buy your filter equipment from your local fish shop. That's if you like to spend lots of money. If you can't find what you need on eBay for about 30% of the lfs, then you don't have the common sense required to own a fish tank. Use your lfs only if you need something TODAY.
Richelle , your water is so crystal clear, all your tips are heard loud and clear. So thank you so much,.....you are a dear.

Don't worry about carbon dust. Just rince it better next time ;-)
Rachel will you ever show shellies,?
I don't have many. But its definitely in the plans for the futre!

Thank you 😊 I wouldn't mix them in the same bag. You have to get rid of carbon after 1 month, but ceramics are practically forever!
@@QuebecCichlides Thank you :)
Are you sure about bio-balls?
Ive used a combination of bio-balls/ceramics for years? Should i get rid of bioballs
I hate them with a passion for aquariums
Bio media is way better
Bio balls are best for ponds

Super educational video 🤓
Off topic question. When can I put my mama kenyi back in regular tank? She had babies yesterday.
Put her back in 😊Her babies don't need her. Just make sure the food gets to them when you feed.
Congratulations!
Cool video as usual. Stay safe.
