isn't the world of plants and gardening just incredible!? No matter how long you've been at it there is always something more to learn and be inspired by... and sometimes just plain awestruck by. Good job 👍👌👏
That’s encouraging! Because of your recent amaryllis videos and the 75% off sale at one of my local garden centers (large bulbs were $5!!) I now have several amaryllis! I soaked all of the roots, and I am eagerly watching and waiting! Definitely needed in the long winter stretch after the holidays. Enjoy all your videos!
Awesome! I’m soooo addicted! I have a beautiful Red Lion blooming right now. My first! I now understand your obsession!!! Lol! Thank you for all of your information and tips!
I bought some gladiolus bulbs and was told through another video to soak them in 1 cup of milk with a gallon of water. I did this and my bulbs started sprouting right in the stand that I had. I had a 1 inch blades come out of all of them, then I put them into the ground. The milk is supposed to have antibiotic in it, and kills off bacteria.
I soaked the roots of two old bulbs and one new one. The new one appears to have a bloom started after about week. One of the old ones is just growing leaves (so far) but it looks like the other one may have a bloom stalk about to come out. I didn’t see any difference in speed, which is a little disappointing, but I know patience is key to this whole process.
Exciting in the middle of winter! I bought a few after watching your videos & followed instructions :) Can I ask what’s the name of the one in the video that’s already in bloom and is lovely pink-peach color ?!
My bulb from last year broke dormancy & only grew leaves. It was my first time trying to save the bulb. I would love to establish a collection of bulbs. I’m not sure what I did wrong.
Sweet. I have a bulb from last year, planted in dirt, but while it has roots it isn’t breaking dormancy. It made me fear watering too much or not enough. I am wondering if it may help to pull it out and warm it in Luke warm temp water a few days?
Does it make sense to remove an old bulb that had been in dormancy, grew 3 leaves, all died immediately and it never bud, to soak roots and repot? Or do not disturb and just let it sit on a windowsill and hopefully grow leaves again? When would you put back in dormancy?
I have one that I planted in ground around summer. I never cut back the leaves nor dug it out. At that time I wasn’t aware of how to care for it. I’m in zone 9b Deep South Texas. Winters don’t get to cold here. We mostly stay in the high 70’s low 80’s. Once in a while temps dip but hardly freezing. Should I be digging mine out come fall or winter for dormancy and the plant back out? Or when do I cut back all the leaves. Mine has yet to ever bloom but I want to soak it like you have yours. Please help! TIA
Hi Danielle. I'm new to amaryllis and some of my bulbs have red areas on them. A couple of them have red on the leaves/bud. I noticed in this video, your bulbs have some red on them. Is this normal? When I googled it, I got some results that said it could be a fungus but they're growing fine.
Hi Lindsay! Some red on the bulb may not be a problem. However, if the leaves and bloom had red blotches I may be concerned. Could you send me a picture on Instagram? I can send you some pictures I have of red blotch.
I have a bulb that was pretty expensive from a speciality shop. I'm only getting foliage. Lots of foliage, but no bloom stalks. I'm growing it in water. I planted early December. Should I move it to soil? Do I give up on it giving me blooms this year?
Hi Nicole! If it's a new bulb from a good supplier I would expect it to bloom. If you don't see a bloom stock by Feb I would call the company. It should bloom in soil or water.

Good job! Thanks for confirming the research. Can’t wait to see them bloom.
Thank you for awakening the love of Hippeastrum in my soul 💕💕💕 I have 9 this year and can't wait to get to 900

Fabulous!!
Awesome 😁 I just had one break dormancy for me a couple of days ago !!! 😉😁
Please can you explain how to tell leaves and blooms apart when they are that small. Thank you so much 😊🌸

Doing this today! I was wondering over the weekend if I could soak old bulbs. Thank you!

Pink Surprise 😀😀
I soaked 2 bulbs for 18 hours then potted them up. After 1 1/2 weeks they still have not broken dormancy. I think they are stubborn and mean. 😊
How fantastic!
You 'some pretty awesome too
Great job
I did as you did, soaked the older bulbs and I have growth in the pot.
Please let me know what you soak your bulbs in and how long💖🥰

What did you soak roots in amd why
what's considered old bulbs? I saw many people online claiming theirs has been blooming for 15 years and more..

I soaked the roots of a new bulb for 3 days and it started to push new roots by the time I took it out of the water!
Ok so like when I plant my Amaryllis it takes literally 3 whole months for the stalk to appear...any thoughts?
soaked in water?

Hi Rebecca! My understanding is that they are hardy in your zone. Check out amaryllis man here on UA-cam. I believe he grows them outside.
