      No actually the air drag is there so there is a resistive force acting and thus there is a loss of energy so there would ve been no way that it would go past the initial postion

    This lecture changed my life by making me want to become an engineer. It was last year when I was sad with my incompetence with physics so I thought I would relearn the concepts in terms of mathematics and calculus which they did not teach in high-school. I started off with work and energy. All my misconceptions were eliminated by watching this video in the summer and I ended up loving to derive everything from scratch. I thought I'd share my experience so I created a UA-cam video about how my physics teacher's notes were incorrect, and my classmates got him to project the video to the class! I had this amazing story to talk about in my university interviews and I ended up being admitted to the #1 university in Canada for Engineering thanks to it. You have my everlasting gratitude Professor Lewin.

    Hello Professor! I enrolled in college at the age of 29: I work durying the day and study the evening. I procrastinated physics as much as I could, since I was always so scared of it, to the point that I almost did not enroll because of it. Now that I have to study it, I'm so glad that I found your lectures on youtube. Everythingy you explain is crystalline (well maybe not always at first, but after some reasoning it's absolutely obvious), and you're actually making me LOVE physics. Your demonstrations are so clear that I repeat your demonstrations every day so that I may fix them in my head forever (I hope!).
    I was puzzled when I saw that your videos had almost no comments: however I just found out that it was an entire set of videos uploaded from another user, with very low quality and with very few views.
    Sorry if I wrote so much, but I just wanted to express my gratitude. I'm quite sure that when I'll get to Electromagnetism I'll be finally able to get it (I had to study it for another exam, but I couldn't really grasp the concepts).
    In short: thank you so much for your exceptional work and passion, and a big hello from Italy!

  • @oshaugh143
    @oshaugh143 7 років тому +7

    I remember that my 8th grade science teacher always said that doing something faster won't change the amount of work that you do. Would I be write if I said that he is wrong for the reason of your acceleration would change therefore the force would change and then the work output would change.
    Also they way he taught us work (hopefully for obvious reasons) was a lot more simple along the lines of pushing an object (the force) some distance. Where you came at it at a whole different standpoint, do you say that he did something wrong with explaining it?
