the slide level is very intense getting everything in one go, the slide has resistance pushing you away from the sides, the train levels can also be difficult if you don't memorize the path
The slide gave me the most trouble, though I was nodding off a bit during it some of the times haha. I also managed to get all of the candy canes, but fell off getting the last one, so I collected them all again so I could have them for the ending. The train sections started off leading you well so it didn't take too many tries to get all of the candy canes, but the last train and then the tube stage gave you less and less time to react and in some cases no way to know that you had to shift lanes before it was too late, which caused a few retries. A relatively stress free mastery overall though. One platforming stage near the end I had a bit of time trying to find the last candy cane which was hiding above a door a bit obscured by the UI which is hard to/couldn't be seen unless you brought the pogo stick over to the door.
i have yet to beat the slide level on my real cartridge, i used rewinds on emulator so i didn't have to be stressed out and restart the level from the beginning every time i miss a cane, i still like this game though, i watched the movie again for the first time in years and i thought there was a gift factory scene or something similar where the kids had to escape from but my memory might be making that up or the movie version i watched cut those scenes out, i think i will finish it on ds where the dpad is looser or whatever
Also i see some people struggling with movement when playing this, you can jump off ladders to escape them mid climb, run with the r button, and trees are not retriggerable, collect the max possible amount of candy canes in the area before progressing and then activate the tree, etc. i don't speedrun this game, i'm just impatient sometimes and simply figured out that the shortcuts for movement actually did work when i tried with the ladder
