I think Sawyer should have been an even more centric character in terms of the 'Lost' plot. At times they made him seem stupid just because he was impulsive, but he was a con man meaning he was actually quite smart, even if for the wrong cause. The character also gets both overated and underated by some just because Holloway is good looking and most females liked him, which for other people can probably take away some seriousness from the character, with all those forced "shirtless Sawyer" moments turning him into something more shallow that what he was meant to be perhaps.
Instead I would have liked to see him solving some mysteries or trying more.
He has both charisma, and darkness, is very entertaining and is liked by most nowadays.
I fail to see, for example, why Jack would be a more important or better character than Sawyer.
