  • Matondoni is a small, traditional Swahili village located on Lamu Island off the coast of Kenya. Known for its peaceful atmosphere, Matondoni is famous for its dhow-building craft, where traditional wooden sailing boats (dhows) are still constructed using methods passed down through generations. The village has retained much of its Swahili culture and traditions, and the majority of the population practices Islam.
