Oh my gosh, I feel like people are always complaining that a kid got something and Cody didn't. Just like the Christmas video with the presents. Sheesh! Cody is such a sweetheart and grateful for anything he gets. What a good boy.
I’m so thankful you posted! I’m 21 and am going through my first and only extremely painful breakup yesterday. My life feels completely flipped upside down but I’m glad this video will take my mind off it for a few minutes. Any advice from others is so appreciated
Well.. I would wash my face and go for a walk or a run. Fresh air and nature always help (even if is cold). And hey! A good funny movie and ice cream always help!!! You got it guuurl!!!
Britt Dela Your going to feel sad for a while and that’s ok. Your feelings are so valid and it’s ok to feel the way you do. Sometimes you just have to allow yourself to feel without feeling guilty for it. Things will start to get better soon. They may have not been your fish in the sea, but your going to find someone who makes all this heartbreak worth it.
My biggest advice is delete the other person in all social media. I know it’s the hardest thing in the world but it will make things a million times easier in the long run. Surround yourself with happy people. Do things you enjoy. Cry. Talk to someone about it. Write down your feelings. Hang in there ❤️❤️❤️
Those were two very important lessons. Thanks Bonnie for sharing. Kids influence each other and by having them face consequences of others mistakes, it teaches them all to do the right thing and look out for each other. And yes, life sometimes isn’t fair. You are raising some incredible kids Bonnie.
Bonnie, I think you’re an amazing mom, I just love how you took the time to really talk about this issue with your kids, I loved how you worded it and just really enjoyed watching that moment. Thanks for sharing, I do the same thing with my kids and it just makes me so happy to see when parents take the time to teach and talk with their kids. Just wanted to tell you( im sure you already know) but you are a great mom!
I love how you vlog with your kids, making sure they are comfortable and give permission. I try to do the same. Thank you so much for leading the way and being such an incredible Mum to your babies. 💙💙💙💙💙💙
Bonnie - you taught your kids such a valuable lesson. “Sometimes life isn’t fare”. It’s so true, I have had to tell my kids the same. It’s so hard for them to understand and it frustrates me now as an adult but it is something we have to accept. Group punishment at school is a tough one; same as kids pushing to the front of the queue get served first. You’re a great mum Bonnie, keep doing what you’re doing xx
Yes! I can not agree more on kids knowing life sometimes isn't fair. How to handle that in a proper positive way! I have instilled this in my kids as well. Sometimes life is not fair. It is not the end of the world. Love this times a billion!
I really dislike sanctions for all, when one person does something. What is that teaching our children. If someone commits a crime near you, should you receive a prison sentence too?
Except sometimes a lot of times innocent people suffer due to one person doing the wrong thing. It stinks, but that's life. As a teacher it is sometimes necessary to do this because you don't always have the resources to figure out who did what. Also there it makes the punishment sink in more when your friends are frustrated that you disobeyed the rules. It should be done rarely, but sometimes it is necessary or helpful. As a teacher I did it once or twice when there was a habitual habit going on by most or no one was willing to fess up.
@@lonnajoy you are right that people often suffer from others behaviour. In this instance innocent people suffer from the teachers decision. It has the potential for people to develop a dislike of authority. No matter how young. Each person needs to be treated as an individual. I am a teacher and I understand the need to build resilience. But I don't agree this is the right way.
Maybe it teaches that life isn't fair, but it's still pretty ridiculous for the teachers to punish everyone like that and make the kids who did nothing wrong feel like "bad" kids just for having to go to refocus or whatever.
I agree that not everyone should be punished for something one or a few do wrong; however, with young kids, this tactic can help them differentiate between who they choose to emulate, hang out with, or follow down the wrong path so to speak. And if/when the majority in the group, classroom, etc. use their numbers to band together and help the "one or a few" make a better choice for the good of the whole, that works too. This said, as students get older--I'd say by 4th or 5th grade and up--this tactic no longer works very well. I teach 6th through 12th grade and by that point, my students are making decisions for themselves for pretty much the majority of their daily lives and having to live with the consequences...they either choose to follow the right path or the risky one. And I will say, at the junior high level, the majority of students make good decisions, show respect, and do their best to be responsible. But there are still a select few who just cannot seem to make good decisions at all and unfortunately, the majority in this group are male. I've lived it in the classroom and at home because my son failed miserably at making appropriate choices from the time he was Cody's age up until around Thanksgiving during 8th grade, which was just last Fall. Then something clicked, and I'm thankful it did!
Hurrah for your parenting style. Too many parents won't let their child learn that sometimes life is unfair. We live in an imperfect world. Great lesson for Cody. It sounded like to me that his friend fell in the area where he wasn't supposed to be and Cody went to help him? Is that what happened? Kudos to you that you don't fight their battles for them.
Why is ur family so so so adorable... simply make my day whenever I watch u all. Each of the kids are so adorable in their own ways and the love between u and Joel is amazing .... i would love to be a parent like u both if I ever do get married🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻thanks for the inspiration 🙌🏻

I once sent to detention because our teacher did that same proclamation. Teachers don’t usually do that kind of punishment, and I would believe it was threatened out of frustration. The best advice was “Life isn’t Fair”.
We allow electronics (iPad/video games) one day a week for an hour. We were dealing with the issue of the kids asking for them constantly throughout the week, and this way they know when to expect it and the limits, so they aren’t asking all the time
I think it’s silly that adults commented on how many legos Olivia received.. I didn’t even notice, all I noticed is that your kiddos seemed very thankful all of them! Also, I think it was so great of you to encourage happiness for Olivia, even though she received more logos; Cody could still be happy & happy for her! A blessing is a blessing! Plus, it was a promo box. I would imagine that all the kiddos would mix and match and share anyway! ❤️💕
Group punishment at school is so ridiculous. Lazy and ineffective behavior management. The kids who need discipline don’t really get it and innocent kids are punished....how are they supposed to learn from that!!!! How would adults like to receive a speeding ticket because someone else was speeding. I know sometimes life isn’t fair but teachers need to work harder with their behavior management......you’re a great mom. Poor Cody.
i was so annoyed when a teacher would say “if i hear one more person talk/laugh, the whole class is getting no free time.” (this was in high school lol) and then this one guy who no one really likes talks. so annoying. i feel you, cody.
Sorry but if my kid got in trouble for something he didnt do!!! You bet id be the one in the principles office!! No kid should have to just deal with punishment for the sake of it because another child couldnt behave!! Punishing all students for something one child did is wrong and not appropriate!!
But in some cases it's a good life lesson. Some times things aren't fair and you have to be careful about what YOU are doing because it can effect those around you. It's good for him to learn from others mistakes. It's not always fair but it's a good lesson. There were times growing up where we were warned over and over again, and someone kept not listening. So it came to a point where we were told that everyone would be in trouble. I think if he was blamed specifically for something he didn't do then yes, I'd be upset. But since om assuming this was an ongoing problem that the teacher just needed to put an end to. This is how it was resolved. We trust our children in the care of these teachers, so we need to trust that they will be the ones to make the rules. Do I believe it was fair? No. But if cody was my kid, I'd handle it the same way Bonnie did. It's a part of life. It's good for kids to learn that. Keeps them tough, and keeps them thinking about how their actions can effect others!
Ashlyn Lewis In this case it’s stupid and completely irrational. As a mom and a teacher, I believe that the punishment should fit the crime. When one person commits a wrong, it makes zero sense to punish everyone for it. That’s a good way to show kids what a power trip is, and that breaks down trust.
@@BrendaD72 oh I totally agree. It's not fair at all. I'm just saying I feel like it's ok for kids to learn that sometimes life isnt fair. There’s always gonna be those people that have to be negative about everything. Buy anyways, maybe you need to fix your salmon differently, I take light mayonnaise, add in capers and Parmesan cheese, mix it all together and pile on top of the salmon, if the mixture is too thick, add in a little bit of the liquid from the capers and cook until the mixture starts to brown, the salmon has such a yummy flavor and very moist, I made up this recipe after having something close to it on a cruise.
