I absolutely love how this band has developed through the years. Couldn't be more pleased with Nimble Bastard. You guys keep at it and ill continue to attend every concert i'm able to.
Solid. Maybe looking too deep into it but...the song sounds like an pseudo-anthem to the people who took all the wrong turns and somehow ended up in the right place. Rock on, Incubus!
Al Filmore something like that, sounds (to me) like he's addressing someone who always turns out okay no matter what life throws at them. so yeah, basically what you said lolol
I love the fact that they are not trying to be 20 again. They grew up and their music have also changed. I am not 15 anymore, and in my 30's I still love their vibe and energy.
It's interesting to see where Nimble fits in the incubus evolution because after If Not Now When being softer with some sharp needles then Trust fall which was considerably heavier and now this which is almost punkish it reminds a little bit of Green Day but obviously with the uniqueness of Incubus... I feel like they are just having fun in this album but I'm sure we will see a lot of surprises... I'm so inspired by the fact that they are still putting awesome music out there, they are a huge influence in my songnwriting and composition... One of the first bands that got me into alt-rock. Love!
I gotta say for myself. Incubus is one of the best bands along with the other groups I enjoy in life. I remember when I first listened to Drive on itunes for the first time. They have NEVER yet to disappoint me at all...
Incubus has always been about change and challenging themselves to make something different. Over the last 25 years they've transitioned from a jazzy, metal, funk, improv band (Fungus Amongus, S.C.I.E.N.C.E.) to a radio-friendly anthem band (Make Yourself, Morning View). From a complex, progressive, noodling, art-rock band (A Crow Left of The Murder, Light Grenades) to a mellow, coming of age ballad band (If Not Now, When?). Change is inevitable and normally hard to swallow initially and Incubus' music embodies that. Like the song or not, everyone should respect the fact that these guys are very talented musicians and have put themselves out there for you to enjoy, or not, for over 25 years. Not many bands can say that. Not many bands are worth that. I saw Incubus perform in a small, dirty club 17 years ago and they have since toured the world and touched the lives of countless millions. I dare any snarky, complaining consumer to pick up a guitar and accomplish that. 99.99% chance that you'll never do it. Kudos to Incubus. Here's to another 25 years.
Guys, the remixed version of the song for the album is something else, highly recommend you listen to that over this seriously. Completely different feel and sounds waay better over all.
I can get why people hated this album so much. But it has been a MASSIVE grower on me this year. Even moreso than Morning View or Make Yourself, I can listen to this one confidently from start to finish and know that I'm going to enjoy it. It might not have the nostalgic audio iconography of "I see you in LIIIIINE, DRAGGING YOUUUUR FEET", or "PARDON ME WHILE I BUUUUURN, AND RISE ABOVE THE FLAMES" but it has a lot of genuinely excellent rock moments and is very enjoyable throughout.
Yes!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING BACK!!!! Your music has literally guided me through life and the horrible lows that went with it! My soul yearns for your vibrations for life! Thank guys soooooooooooooo much!!!
Isabelle Guedes só espero que as músicas seja iguais as antigas, pq esses últimos singles tinha me decepcionado bastante, mas essa música me deu um animo
I like the punk rock sound. It isn't as intricate as some of their older songs, but come on it's something new. The rock front needs some good new tunes nowadays. Can't wait to hear the rest.
Love incubus. They were my childhood, adolescent and adult life story so far. I love how the fans love them even when they fell in love for different reasons. In a world so torn apart by everything else, thank God or whomever you pray to at night for one of the few remaining original artists around that although may not "get it right" definitely get our support. My heart is so full of love for you and I will listen, support and grow with you even when nostalgia comes knocking. Love love and more love. God bless the fans and you guys. Xxx
Ya never know what Incubus is going to throw at you, and this song is perfect example. Had no idea what to expect when I heard the single was called Nimble Bastard, all I knew was that I l would love it. And I listened to it ...and I was right :)
iIn summer 2017 I started to work at my first job right after I finished school and one day I remember finding Incubus randomly in my youtube recommendations and I loved this song sooo much and the whole album in general! It always reminds me of this hot summer in 2017, me driving to work by bike and getting to know all my collegues. Later I started to listen to all their others songs. I know 2017 isn't long ago, but a lot has changed since then and I'm still in love with this album!
I feel like at the point of their last full album they were at an artistic crossroads. They tested the water with the softer route and the reaction was less than positive. Personally, I don't think it was their best album by a long shot but they have now accepted that this sound is their true sound. I've been a fan for a long time and always defended the last album, however I feel this is a welcome return to their best stuff. I have yet to hear any other songs from this new album but I am feeling hopeful. Love Incubus
Yeah yeah Incubus doesn’t sound the same as they did - on Science or what ever album more - which I am glad about. This song prooves the love for music and their skill. Its ever more creative and original. Very stooked about the rest of the album! This is going to be great!
Norm what are you talking about? This is the most generic song they have ever made. The Incubus from Science to Light Grenades is dead. Now they are just boring.
GG4GJake The album range you are referring to has a complete different sound on each album. I see a whole lot of Science refs, but Fungus Amongus what about that. Incubus evolves. I would so dislike incubus if for an example 4 albums sound alike.. would bore the shit out of me..
The WatchMan Incubus doesn’t create a certain fan base and stick to that. They make music based on what they like and appreciatie it very much if people have lasting support for the band. I see your objection, but obviously do not agree..
Norm Yes they had a different sound on each album. I enjoy that when the album is good. I don't care if they sound different. That isn't the problem. The problem is the sound generic, run of the mill, boring. Incubus USED to have their own twist on their work that made it very unique and fun. Their old albums had songs that I couldn't imagine any other band coming up with. This song however is a song that any rock band from the last decade could of made. There is no heart to it. I can't think of one thing about this song that stands out. It's just blah.
Sounds closer to Crow Left of the Murder. I enjoy it. I do hope there's some more use of Kilmore on this album than the last 2. Not over bearing even, but just like Pistola or Megalomaniac. The instruments sound great on this. Overall solid. Not as great as Adolescents but Im hoping the album will be the best since Crow
I love this. Their last full album was such a dramatic departure from what Incubus is for me and I couldn't stomach it (JUST MY OPINION). I'm glad they brought some of the rock back a little bit.
+Akula Matata No they can't even if they tried. Michael Einzinger is around 100000000 times better guitarist than anyone in Linkin Park. Their bassist Ben Kenny is way better than Linkin Parks. Linkin Park didn't put any effort in their albums after Hybrid theory/Meteora
Shun Jags, those two LP albums sound like outdated rap metal. theres no way they could release an album that sounds like those, in 2017 - it would just be laughable
Linkin Park is fucking garbage. Brandon Boyd is actually a real good singer. Einzinger is actually a real good guitar player. Linkin Park just isnt.....good
+Mike Joiner They shouldn't. But that doesn't mean they should give in and make radio friendly songs just to make more money either. The first 2 albums showed efforts. Minutes To Midnight was above average too. But then they ruined it with a 1000 suns and then Hunting Party was Okayish but the new single really lacks originality.
Yessss finally a new single and a tour! Incubus have been and always will be my favorite band. I love this song, it is very reminiscent of A Crow Left of the Murder in my opinion. I am sooooooo sick of seeing comments about people not liking their music since Science. I mean, that was how long ago?? That album is great don't get me wrong, but bands have to grow and evolve. If you know anything about Brandon Boyd, you would know that Science was not really at all who he is. I am loving this new single!
To all noticing similarities: Don't fix what ain't broke! New Chilli Peppers is another example of super talented dudes creating music they love and hope we'll love.
Leonardo Basulto There's drum samples being used from what I can hear (particularly noticeable at the start and in the section after the guitar solo) as well as texturing effects here and there within the mix throughout, no doubt down to him.
Attention those who are stuck in 1997 wanting incubus to sound like S.C.I.E.N.C.E. again: You need to evolve, grow, learn and move forward. In life and in music everything evolves and changes. Incubus, Deftones, Metallica, everyone evolves and you should too!
Mgillsp1 That is something I've noticed quickly about some incubus fans. I'm only 16 and have been a fan of them for about 2 years and love all their shit. Some people should just stop complaining and listen to something else of they don't like their new songs and get over the fact that Dirk isn't in the band anymore, he left the band when I was still shitting my diapers.
Mgillsp1 I totally agree with you, Incubus is better known for it's stuff outside of the funk metal days (not that I'm saying it's bad, hell no!) Light Grenades is my favorite album by them & it sucks that not everyone can agree with me on that.
UHHHHH so glad you used Deftones as another example. They've been plagued by the same sort of short sighted thinking when it comes to artists. Yeah as a part of their business they exist to please you but HOPEFULLY they also exist to express themselves creatively. The latter is more important, really. We should all agree on that.
@@mksaintsfan Not long before the album was done, they had the guy from Skrillex re-produce most of the tracks. I wish they wouldn't have done this, as to me the album sounds way too bass-heavy and bombastic, and everything doesn't mix well - especially for a rock album.
@@1ndigo5oul50 Never heard of Skrillex, but that's why bands shouldn't let other artists produce their music, especially if they do music that's different.
Jay Wilshaw skrillex originally came from a metal background before switching to dubstep and becoming better known for it. He has heritage with rock and should of known better, this version is much better.
I guess indie rock is possibly the only type of music I'll ever really listen a lot to. There is this charm that's not found anywhere in them. Incubus is a great example of this! In the beginning, they weren't even mainstream. Back then, they rocked hard. And now, it seems they're back rocking your soul away once again.... I love it! X)
Why are most of the people comparing Incubus with Linkin Park? Every band have it's own style and nothing is wrong when they want to make a different kind of song
I've always really like Mike Einziger's guitar sound. The approach and feel is 90 degrees different than the most of the music I listen to. Its probably why I enjoy this band because his approach to guitar tone and phrasing is really well done and I think him and Brandon have a lot of chemistry together.
I've been a huge incubus fan for my whole life of 23 years. I dig all their albums and songs. I can't hate on incubus, but the last couple songs they released after if not now when weren't really my thing. this song reminds me of crow.... but in a more basic way. Mike's guitar part is almost like a punk song other than the solo is badass. he's not one for just straight power chords simple chords progression and not really using effects pedals which he's one of the best at. and Brandon's lyrics are very simple and not as deep or meaningful as like morning view or the other albums. I love incubus but I hope the rest of the album has a little more sustenance to it.
I hear you Justin, they were my band growing up (I'm now 31) and I always loved Boyd's lyrics on top of everything else. However, Absolution Calling, I believe, is one of their deepest tunes! I'm hoping we hear more songs that align with that as the record comes out. Nimble Bastard is cool though, but I hear you.
Justin Prince so you were a fan at 0 years of age when NO album had been realeased?. lolercoaster. say what you mean. I became a fan at 16 when the Family Values album came out with New Skin circa 1997/1998
I agree to everything haha. I think Mike's guitar is pretty good in absolution calling but I'm mostly glad they are still playing music and touring. I hope I get to see them in Chicago this summer
This is nice, already trending. I really like the new channel art too. Brandon Boyd looks like a dinosaur on it. Hes my favorite singer. The greatest singer ever in my opinion.
I dunno why the record producer decided to over work this song but this version sounds so much better. The album version is so over blown with compression its disgusting.
I'm glad you guys are back! I grew up listening your music, it really helped me get through my younger years. Keep up the good work guys nothing but love and respect from my end. Keep on writing music that inspires people. 👍👍👍👏
I absolutely love how this band has developed through the years. Couldn't be more pleased with Nimble Bastard. You guys keep at it and ill continue to attend every concert i'm able to.
In all my 30 years on this planet there has never been a band that has made music that hits my soul quite like incubus.

In the beginning, they weren't even mainstream. Back then, they rocked hard. And now, it seems they're back rocking your soul away once again.... I love it! X)
Why are most of the people comparing Incubus with Linkin Park? Every band have it's own style and nothing is wrong when they want to make a different kind of song
every song on this album is 🔥🔥🔥
¡Me encanta!
Justin Prince perfectly put.
Todd Self hahaha. you got me there. my dad did play me fungus amongus when I was a baby though. I think it came out in 93?
I agree to everything haha. I think Mike's guitar is pretty good in absolution calling but I'm mostly glad they are still playing music and touring. I hope I get to see them in Chicago this summer
Yes! Crunchy like the old tunes. Love the new songs guys :)
This is nice, already trending. I really like the new channel art too. Brandon Boyd looks like a dinosaur on it. Hes my favorite singer. The greatest singer ever in my opinion.
Vegan GainsJR THE VOICE...BIG BRANDON!!!!
Vegan GainsJR Brandonsaurus Boyd
I love it.. Incubus always sounds like Incubus to me, some songs softer yes (and that's not a bad thing).
Same with Chevelle
Jesus, people are STILL stuck in 1998? Of course they're not going to make another goddamn SCIENCE. Bands change and evolve, wow, shocking right?
SO SO HAPPY To HEAR NEW MUSIC FROM You!!! I love it!!! 💖
Still much better than Linkin Park new song (;
Reminds me of Crow, which is one of my favorite albums.
Great song, but the upcoming album needs some long overdue Killmore scratching.
PWTHEROOK 97 I agree. And Linkin Park needs some long overdue Mr. Hahn scratches on their upcoming album.
wow, ethan! great moves! keep it up. proud of you!
I dunno why the record producer decided to over work this song but this version sounds so much better. The album version is so over blown with compression its disgusting.
Brilliant! So glad you're back! Love it!
So much better than the new LP song
i was about to write the same thing
By far, this still being rock music.
David Moreno linkin park's a completely different genre now ugh

"Guilty All The Same" destroys this track.
I'm glad you guys are back! I grew up listening your music, it really helped me get through my younger years. Keep up the good work guys nothing but love and respect from my end.
Keep on writing music that inspires people. 👍👍👍👏
