Met the great man at a small model railway exhibition in Wokingham in 1977. He had his wonderful diesel electric Class 47 on display and fired it up as we stood and watched. Always find myself tearing up a little whenever I hear that wonderfully poignant Flanders and Swann song.
This programme is a snapshot of time. Beautiful,
he was exactly as he was here in real life. I count myself very lucky to have met him.
Was there no end to this mans talents and life experiences? Truly gifted.
Fabulous - I miss these programmes and they don't seem to be available on DVD, which is a great surprise. Brilliant thanks for posting

Sad that Bob died only months before (most of) the Border railway he mentioned was reopened.
I briefly met him once - a most charming man.
