the trick is that they dont tell you that the illusion doesn't work if you dont focus on the center on the screen, but instead they tell you to focus on something in the center of the screen. very smart-

Is this what you see when you use lsd for example?
It's fairly close, but lsd is still a lot more intense and no optical illusion can replicate the feeling of intensity you get with acid

What’s this like compared to acid
It's impressively similar actually, it's the closest I've seen an illusion/visual replicate the visual portion of acid. That being said, while it's a good indicator of what the world looks like on acid, it's not a good representation of what the world feels like on acid. That's a feeling that varies from trip to trip and can't really be replicated.
